After I was bitten by a soi dog I had a meeting at Pattaya City Hall who are responsible, 3 people incl 1 dept head guy, they listened, were polite and generally feigned interest and did nothing, the dog is still there over a year later. Walking round the building it came across as full of people doing nothing shuffling paper, i doubt I'll ever waste time going back

the best officials name is "crossbow"

    His helpers are named "arrows"

Put the logo of Pattaya police and the logo of City Hall on the "helpers"

Make mr Crossbow and his "helpers " work silently in the night and early mornings ( from 03:oo)

When finished ,hide mr Crossbow on the property  of your most hated neighbor.

    Then wait and be happy.

    Good work.

Not sure that is fair. My call/visit to City Hall was entirely successful. No hint of a request for remuneration. But of course it helps if you speak to the right person in the first place.

I did and action was swift.

So I can say that in all of my interactions with City Hall they have solved or helped to solve the issue without any suggestion of payment.

are you bribed by City Hall to say this? lol

    Off topic but interesting.

I read an article yesterday about Google, effectively blocking any content on YouTube about Bitcoin. That got my attention...

Seems it has been going on for a while. I wonder why Google don't want people viewing videos about Bitcoin ??

I am in Spain, no censoring here,

bitcoin up 32,0373% in 1 month.

    But maybe - 30% next week ? It's gambling.

It was interesting to see how the different countries are taking different approaches to tackling this virus.

In Korea they are doing mass testing to try and catch the virus at an early stage. I read the other day that a Covid-19 test in Thailand can cost up to 13,000 Baht, so some people avoid being tested. Wouldn't it be a good idea for the government to give a large budget to the health authorities and make testing free for everyone?

there is no test material anymore. It takes months to produce test kids, and most labs  making this .....are in China .(as is 98% of the medications we take)

The whole world has to order its medicine in China , US included.

That's why there is only a very limited stock at your farmacie .

at least with the same story running on multi threads...

one gets to have a second laugh ????????

the problem is not enough alcohol.

When a Thai drunk has enough alcohol ,he will not stop drinking until he

falls asleep. The problem arrises ,when his bottle is empty before he passes out .

He is still able to get in his car ......and do some stupid accident. His already ,more drunk and sleeping friends , did the right thing "drink til you drop"

You will have to wire the money out, your bank will be able to do swift transfers just need the IBAN and swiftbic of the account you want to wire it to. If you have internet banking setup you can do it online without having to visit the branch. krungsri and Citi are easy enough to do this online . If you are sending money to an account in your name they won't ask questions ive sent a few million baht in and out of Thailand and no questions have been asked.

Alternatively the harder option  you could try to find an American expat you trust who is in need of baht and then you would both save on bank fees and losing out on the exchange rate and he can transfer from his US bank to yours and you from your Thai bank to his. I'm sure there's lots of Americans who want to buy property and other stuff here and would wire large sums over but it's just getting lucky and finding someone.

You can bring back cash thb to the States and change it over but I'm guessing you won't be allowed to take more than $10k on the plane  which won't really help I'm sure another board member could clear up the max allowance limit on the plane.

If i'm married to a Thai lady, can i put money on her bankaccount and she can wire it to her bank account in Belgium, Spain,....?

He can try, but probably a big waste of time.

With proper connections ownership of a bike can be transferred in a day.

Also, maybe she used the abandonment excuse.

Which is probably what she did prior to sale.

    Should be an interesting case.

buying the car was a good choice..

buying the house was a good choice...

but your girl was a big mistake.

I am not sure if I understand this correctly. If he transferred the money from Belgium to buy a property, he should be able to show evidence of the original remittance and the buying and selling transactions. Then he should be able to remit the principle and any after tax profit back to Belgium.  That's what happens with share transactions on the SET, although the broker usually arranges it all for you.  There must have been something missing in his documentation or in the bank's understanding of the regulations.  If he bought a house in the name of a nominee, rather than a condo in his own name, that could have been the issue.  If you remit money to buy land in the name of  a Thai spouse or a nominee, the chain may be broken as far as the Bank of Thailand is concerned.  In that case, you have technically imported the funds to lend to a Thai citizen to buy land.   Then they sell the land and repay you the principle possibly with some profit but that might not fit into the rigid box that allows a foreigner to remit principle and profit back out after selling an investment in shares or property.

    Yes that sounds credible.

With the high baht they should investigate the transfer of any money out of Thailand over 50,000 baht.

well they do this ,it works both ways.

Friend sold his house , 3 milj bht.

He put the 3milj  in his thai bank.

Years ago he transferred this 3 milj to buy the house in Th.

Got proof that the money came from his Belgian bank.

So he thought he could send it back to his Belgium bank........NO WAY said the thai bank.

Because he took it out of the thai bank. If it stayed all the time in the Thaibank ,then he

    could sent it back.

    Seems not normal?

As the new law about 1 years extension by monthly transfer of 65 000 B from my bank in Denmark I thought I will do that and  thereafter tranfer back  to my Danish bank about 60 000 B.

Should that not be possible ?

If not, can I with my Thai Kasikorn debet card go to an ATM in Denmark and withdraw money although I know it will be a bad deal for me due to the exchange rate ?

Yes, your Thai debet card (Visa) will work world wide.

You can set up a max /day

Since your money is in a Thai bank now , it is in strong Bht.( the EU is weak) .So if you take out euro's in Denmark ,you make a nice 10% profit.(lucky those who did not keep their money in EU)

The Spanish ATM takes 2.5 EU on each transaction ( 600 eu each time) so that is peanuts compared with the 60eu(10%) you win each time.

Unless there's been recent changes, I don't think there's the same degree of restrictions on a Thai sending money overseas.

I do recall that I purchased a house in Naklua over 30 years ago from a well-off Pattaya businesswoman and this was accomplished by my transferring £ from my UK account to the UK bank accounts of her two siblings studying at Uni in London. Once her kids confirmed the money was received, we went to the land office here and I got the title. She claimed it was to avoid excessive forex fees way back then but I reckon she didn't become a Thai billionaire by not leveraging all sorts of loopholes, legal and not so legal, when it came to loadsacash.

This is not an answer to my question. You  speak about money transfer from a UK bank to a UK bank.

Not the same as a money transfer between a Thai bank and a UK bank.
