  1. Problem is with belts once they start to squeal, because they are loose, they get glazed and lose grip so squeal more and get more glazed. It is a downward spiral. The main culprit here in Thailand is the AC belt. TIP: if the belts are squealing. Don't turn on the AC until the car is moving and the engine is off idle. The driving pulley momentum will overcome the inertia in the compressor.

If you are handy you can get some temporary reprieve by rubbing a piece of ordinary household soap on the belt(s) but be careful not to loose any fingers! Aerosol Industrial belt dressing is available here but it seems anything in an aerosol is expensive here, relative to the permanent fix.

Belts are cheap and so is the labour.

  2. ^ wot he said.

Oil is oil is oil. You can change it every 500 kms for ever if you want. Honda has specific MB rated oil for CVT scooters.

If you want to do it yourself? The PCX has no wet clutch you can use any oil you want, you don't need "special" motorbike oil.

Fully synthetic would have better lubricity and resistance to viscosity breakdown. Shell Helix Ultra will work. Advance Ultra is MA rated ( for wet clutch) so has the friction modifiers either removed or toned down.

  3. In theory you can change the stock headlight for a halogen bulb, 35w/30w. But I believe PCX has HS5 bulb configuration not the more common H4. About 2500 baht. The key is here to find the right one and not just a blue coloured look-a-like bulb.

Also I am sure if you visit any decent scooter accessory shop they will have a Chinese made HID conversion for PCX.

  4. If it wasn't for the dumb-ass import tariffs then there wouldn't be a bl00dy market for smuggled cars (and bikes) facepalm_zpsad321fec.gif ...<deleted>

These dumb-ass import tariffs as you call them are nothing more than income tax levied of people who don't pay any. Can afford a grossly pretentious car on 100,000 a month declared salary? Of course! Then the government would like the tax it didn't get on the earnings you didn't declare to get the money in order to purchase the car.

    <deleted>? Really?

  5. My first thought was Why do people move to Thailand and then want everything made overseas instead of here? If you want all your toys from overseas then stay there!

    OK rant over.

Seriously no. I could see someone importing them to sell for exorbitant money like MINI and Harley, but in reality I can't see hi-so well healed people riding them in down-town Bangkok in the sun. Maybe in the moobahn for a laugh, but then who would see them?

  6. That is amazing! A S&S engine in a genuine Morgan. Must go like the clappers!

It's the new one, been out since 2011. Yours for £ 25,000

Won the "Not-A-Car of the Year 2011" in Top Gear (magazine)

But as this is the bike forum in some countries because it only has three wheels you can "drive" it on a motorbike license.

  7. Also remember that the tyre pressures should be checked when the

tyres are cold as the pressures rise when the tyres warm up after being driven.

So if pedantic you'll have to buy a tire gauge and check them at home before driving if a bit low remember how low then when arriving at the gas station (tell the wife she needs to go to one with a compressor) check the tires again and add the amount they were low to the amount you measure at the station.

Or do what 98.8% of the planet does arrive at the gas station and pump them up to 33psi or 2.2 bar or 227 Kpa whichever pressure the unit at the gas station is calibrated in.

If Thai 51 is correct. Under inflated tires cause poor fuel economy so therefore over inflated tires must save fuel. If you see 22" rims on a Fortuner it will not be the tires that are over inflated!
