so...comments and opinions not allowed. the thread police are in the house!
OK Fair. I did get sucked in. Sometimes I forget myself and get irked by A type personalities who believe their bike is bigger or their possessions more valuable and that it makes them a better or more knowledgeable person or adds weight to their opinion.

can I just order the parts from honda or is it more complicated than that: i.e., different cases to accept the starter motor and however the gear needs to drive the crankshaft ?
would it be expensive?
thanks,
Jeff
Take it to a Honda dealer and ask. The case maybe different. It drive an additional gear behind the generator so it is not a simple job. Then you need the relay and the switch assy.

A K&N air filter on a small displacement factory standard engine is a complete waste of time.
You gotta love some comments.
Time belongs to the individual what they choose to do with it or not to do with it has got little to do with anything. A hobby or pastime is a personal matter. Being on this forum is the biggest waste of time ever.
Come on mate, use your noggin, if you remove the air box and replace it with a cone filter the heat from the engine will be getting inducted along with the outside air so the inlet air temp will increaseThis is why most modified step-throughs have the carburettor stuck out the side. Not good if you want to drive through floods though.
Guys just cos you got BIG bikes don't belittle the guys that like modding their smaller bikes. To paraphrase Carlo Abarth. "Any competent mechanic can get power out to a V8 but it takes an artist to extract the most from a small engine".
To the OP.
I can't give you exact coordinates in Rayong but there is a market on the south side of Sukhumvit between Tesco and the PMY junction. About 1.75kms west of Tesco. Look for a 7/11, in the back straight ahead is a covered area and an accessory shop. I bought the race cam and the filter there but there are two sizes. Also on the north side of the road. Opposite said market. There is also a shop on the south side at the traffic lights past Tesco towards Klaeng. There is also a night market every Monday or Tuesday (sorry) at Star Plaze behind Tesco where I bought the carburetor and manifold.
BTW loud aftermarket exhausts are taboo in Pattaya for obvious reasons.

How much overhead is spent when buying a new car from a showroom in Bangkok? My Thai Mrs says on her previous Vios purchase probably 30kB went to the sales agent in the store for making the sale - a car she bought at the sticker price than seems fixed all over Thailand. Any experiences in avoiding the sales persons cut if such a thing exists?
Asinine.
How does the salesman get paid? Goodness of the heart of the dealership?

Does anybody know of a good shop that can check out a 2JZ GTE engine ??
The one I have in my car is very good but I am not sure that it is putting out all the horses it should be.
I would appreciate it we could keep replies based on the above.
Regards
We just had to scrap one as it was driven with no oil after some drugy drained out the oil while it was parked for a prolonged period.

wow!!
Thanks
I will dop in on my next trip to Bkk
Do you want only the filter element or the actual filter housing?
Aftermarket K&N Fliter housing can be bought at most acessory shops like the ones about 200m from Saphan Kwauy
BTS.
Here my bike has a trumpet but usually has a SS "K&N" filter bought in Rayong.

Does any of you if HomePro has these Torx/Torck screw driver sets available.
Or have you an idea where in BKK I can get? I live around Rama 3 area but can go anywhere.
Also needed are some tie wraps (no not Thai wraps
).
Need to remove my door panel as my window regulator is broken (BMW E46). Found a good and simple solution on the net that will save a lot of money compared to what a dealer would charge.
Thanks!
(Already tried search here but gave no results)
Torx sets are available at any good tool shop. Opposite BMW Soi 22 and towards Klong Toey market for instance. Sukhumvit 77 before the Srinakarin overpass there is a row of tool shops on the left before the klong bridge but parking is restricted. They are not generally used in the "home" so not sure if HomePro would have them. They might.

I'd say dropping the pan would be enough, but the performance garage thing sounds like a good idea.
Actually I would've done it myself (drop the pan) but I don't have an area to do it... my apartment's landlady might not like the idea of me using the carpark as a fixit garage. (She's already letting me park my car at no extra parking cost to my old room-only rent). =p
Can you recommend a garage in Bkk?
Cheers.
Start with Toyota Main dealer?

Where would they sell this type of additive in Bangkok?
.
Any LPG station but it is not cheap about 500baht for 500ml. One is called Flash Lube. The other?
If you go to an LPG installer they will fit a drip feeder to your engine if you want for about 1500 baht including one bottle of Flash Lube.. One bottle every 5000 to 10,000 kms depending on adjustment.

I have been thinking of buying a car but have hesitated for some time now due to stories here as well as in the news about not only the high accident rate but the special pitfalls that await the expat driver.
So, what do you think could be done to improve safety on the roads in Thailand not just for Thais but for the expat driver as well?
I don't think it is any more dangerous here than other S.E Asian countries, say Indonesia. You just have to concentrate more to drive here. Depending on how much driving you have done in the west you may not have much to "unlearn". There is scant regard for what we would consider "normal" traffic laws and apart from the occasional sleeping driver, actual car control here is almost the same as anywhere else.
.
If have experience driving on the right then there is a spatial learning curve. Other than that go ahead. Bear in mind though that your swear word count may increase.

Here's a problem that I know others of you will have had from time to time, possibly not knowing of it till something goes wrong.
A mouse, or mice in the engine compartment, they like to eat the small electric wires that are found on modern car's / pickup's
If left to their own it will only be a matter of time till they damage wires to the ABS, lights, fuse box ect, I have removed mice before with a baited trap but is there any thing you can put in the engine bay ( apart from a cat every night ) to stop them moving in in the first place. maybe something they dont like the smell of ?
Ultrasonic rodent deterent?

Samui Dave,
I believe Expat Motors does or used to export grey market Toyotas to the UK and retrofit them with heaters.
Should be simple to reverse the process.

Bob,
Are you brand new to motorcycling or born-again?
What bike do you have?
You may try posting the same question on GT-Riders. If you are not a complete tosser (sorry but there are lots down your way) someone may take you under their wing.
Highside track days are excellent, if not a bit steep, if you have some experience that would be worth a look. Graham will look after you.
If you want to learn to ride a "chicken-chaser", in BKK both Honda and Yamaha have a program. If you are brand new to riding one of these may be good and they may even find you an english speaking person! It's only a 2hr bus ride, la,la,la
These guys used to ride a variety of bikes. Maybe worth a look. <[email protected]> A bit over the top for me but....

Off topic a little but dont want to start a new thread.
I have the standard thai tractor mounted sprayer, standard pump,200 litre plastic drum and three spray nozzels.
With this system to get an even application i have to use 140 litres of water per rai.
Does anybody know where a range of spray nozzles can be purchased that require less volume of water.(eg hardi)
Thanks
Farmerjo,
I know nothing about crop spraying which will be evident by my next few words but would the nozzles from the misting air coolers be of any use? they are getting very popular and easily available here.

but if this happened anywhere else in the world the operator would be up on criminal charges.
Thank your God Thailand is not anywhere else in the world.
Is'nt that why we live here?
You are assuming that if the boat had an EPIRB that the Royal Thai Navy has a receiver? I believe (probably wrong) all commercial boats must be Thai owned and crewed so the operator is off the hook anyway. TIT.
BTW I read the other day that commercial fishing is the most dangerous occupation in the world. One reason maybe that they go to sea in boats and "stranger things happen at sea"

Round up is in most of the ag supply stores. Mix it Thai style and it will do for several months.
Thanks.

I wish to treat about 1m wide around the outside of a wall to stop weed/plant growth un against the wall. Which is the best broad spectrum weedkiller that is readily available in Thailand?

Flapper - sorry typing error - should read Slapper
slapper : English slang and colloquialisms used in the United Kingdom
Noun. 1. A sexually promiscuous woman. Derog.
I can guarantee if you always take a Slapper with you, you will never be robbed, at least not by anyone else.
I am wondering if those guys know the bike is probably worth more than their motorbike?

HiI am having some new tools sent over from the UK to my wife's aunt in Udon via one of the delivery companys and was wondering if anyone has an idea about how much I should be expecting to pay.
Any information will be useful
The total value is probably about 400GBP
About 25% + VAT but the whole import / duty thing is a minefield.
My perfered method would be to post them but if there is any duty owing you may have to go in person to the post office to collect and pay the duty. Make sure the recipient is an individual not a business better if you put a Thai then you won't have to go in person/copy your passport etc.
DHL, UPS would be simpler as they deliver to your house but they WILL charge you duty. Notice I didn't mention FedEx. I have a personal dislike for their service.

I hope to leave between 4 & 5 pm (earlier if I can swing it) but that's coming from across the river, Samut Prakan area.
Do you use the ferry at the bottom of Bang Na, across from the wat on Prapadaeng?
-
Clayton as you are the OP. I thought you may like to see some examples.

I will have to double check the book but I believe i am correct in saying that motorbikes under 50cc cannot be registered and cannot be driven on main roads.
Except across major highways up north.
K&n Air Filters For Honda Wave
in Motorcycles in Thailand
Posted
There is a 180 kit for automatic scooter. Nuovo I think. Not sure how far one could ride it though.
I built my Wave project bike while living in Indonesia. Primarily as there was nothing to do except whores and golf and I don't play very well!
