  1. I have used them quite extensively over last couple of years with few problems.  Most deliveries between 10 to 14 days upcountry.  There is no indication, unlike Lazada or Shopee as to from where in China its being sent from so time can vary.  Like any of these sites it is essential to always read the reviews of a shop/product before buying.

Customs clearance is handled on the way.  I have had to pay customs duty on only 2 out of 15 identical items over time, and that was when the orders final leg was by Thai post which was paid at local post office.

One trick to be wary of that caught me was because one time I didnt check reviews.   I ordered goods from a store that in hindsight they didnt have in stock and needed to be brought in.  The trick iis they order the carrier to pick up the non existing parcel which makes it a failed pick up on the logistics side.  Now you know there is a problem as time goes by because still not picked up, but you cant cancel the order and start the refund process until a certain time period has passed (2 weeks I think) .  In the meantime the store is hoping to get your order in and forward it before the time period ends thus leading to delays on your end.

Another problem I have had is with payments.  Sometimes you need to clear all cookies before making payment otherwise a failure due to some security reason.  Separate to that I have had problems with using a Thai SCB debit card whereas my Aussie debit card goes through every time.  With the SCB card very 2 or 3 orders (every 2 or 3 weeks) they want to verify my the card with statements, ID etc causing a delay of a day or 2.   This verification never happens with my Aussie card except when first using a new card replacing an expired one.

All in all I have no hesitation in using Aliexpress.

He is now known as pra crash bang wallop. As for money, temples obviously posses vast wealth. In my village there is a small well kept temple in the temple grounds, then they built a large teaching center for monks for 14 million Baht, next on the list was a new temple for services as the old one was too small but is, unlike the teaching center, still used by the monks, the latest is building a new hall (for whatever purpose), to do this they had to demolish a perfectly usable hall in the same place, I've only seen it being used as a dinning hall for 10 or so monks. Recently they bought four 3 meter tall 'monster guard' statues to be placed in front of the old temple. I saw that my and my wife's name along with other villagers have been commemorated in gold leaf on black marble plaques on the base of the statues so unknown to me my wife has contributed no small amount to buying these decorative monstrosities. They must be rolling in cash, some of it mine.

Yes its a perfect example of modern thai culture.  I live in a very small village and yet we have something like 7 temples.  Its 3 times as many as the population requires.  And they forever have their hands out for some improvement of some kind.  They are nothing like the temples you talk of but still too much for a poor village.  They could knock them all down and build two big ones to well and truly accupy all the worshippers and more but then there would be no competition for whose got the biggest statue or meeting hall etc.  They cant even follow the most basic of Buddhist principles.

You want to investigate coral damage? How about tour boats dropping anchor straight onto coral, then killing more when the pull it up? Is that damned yellow submarine still going around in the Pattaya area doing the same thing?

    What's good for the goose . . .

Sadly you need to have pics of tour boats dropping anchor straight onto coral or fishing boats throwing plastic waste overboard posted on social media before any action is taken.  Shove it in our faces for everyone to see or it didnt happen.

    OP...

    1) You can get the Yellow Book in your name for your address - it involves hoop jumping and more work than getting a simple residency letter, so you may not find it worth it. BUT, if you go through the process, it will be there for you went you need it next time.

    2) You can get a Certificate of Address from Immigration at Chaeng Wattana IF you have already submitted a 90 days report.

    3) IF you have not been in Thailand for 90 days (in one spell) and can’t yet submit a 90 days port, then wait 90 days... OR, you may have to ‘bite the bullit’ and go through the process of applying for the Yellow House book (and pink ID card).

This part is not true - No work permit is needed for the Yellow Tabien Baan.

You will likely need (amongst others).

    - MFA verification of Translation of Embassy Certification of your passport.

Visit your local Amphur Office and ask them exactly whats needed for your Yellow housebook as requirements sometimes vary and some offices are easier to deal with than others.

First I would visit your local traffic office to ask what they require.  Some offices, especially in Isaan dont recognise the yellow book.

  5. I have been living here in Thailand for over 20 years.  Prior to that I was a frequent visitor coming 2 or 3 times a year for 15 years.  I have family back in Oz including a daughter.  Over that 35 odd years I have used Thai post quite a bit, especially when my daughter was younger to send her clothes toys etc.  I also found it easier and cheaper to post stuff back to OZ rather than carry it on my travels.  Only ONCE in those 35 years have I lost a thing.....one parcel sent to Oz never made it.  Lost here or there who knows.  Incidently I always used the cheapest post as in no hurry to have it delivered so long as it gets there and it almost always has.

don't think it will be so easy to get considering how ultra conservative doctors are here in thailand and they already made their positions clear about weed.

There are also a great many doctors who are concerned about the road toll but dont hesitate to give you a health cert for driving licence without even seeing you lol!  Money speaks the loudest in Thailand and will do for the cannabis crew (unless the alcohol lobby get busy with it)
