Frankly, it needs to have a hefty rise, as does Coke. Both are poison and contribute to the obesity crisis facing Thailand at the moment.
Agreed.....couldnt care less how much pepsi costs, rather buy a kilo of sugar and some paint remover.......aweful stuff!

Authorities assured that no cases have been found in Thailand since screening measures for the virus began
Is this the same kind of screening thats done with the health checks for a work permit or drivers license. Theyre so good at them they dont even have to see the patient.

How can they keep 'ramping up' anti smuggling measures when you would think they should be running at 100% already , considering the covid pandemic as well as their current attempt at getting a downgrade in human trafficking status with the US?

Since when has "criticism of the US" been a point of contention, or not permitted, on Thaivisa?

No matter how heinous you consider under age sex, it really isn't 'human trafficking'.
Those laws were designed for buying and selling people from country to county, and are being misused by the Thai police.
Its a smoke screen to make it look like the authorities are doing something when they are not arresting the main culprits from above.

Its the arrests that havnt been made and certainly should have been made, that are of concern here.
On the subject of transparency, this headline was also in the latest news:
Protest in front of UN office against proposed Thai law to curb NGO activities

What is considered 'an extract' ? Is smoke considered an 'extract' ?
Everbody should band together and call their local police station daily asking them to visit and check the THC in your plants because you certainly dont want to break any laws lol!

I am quite happy here, I live as I want to. I'd have to be a multi-millionaire in Australia to have a GF 23 years younger than me, as I do here.
You keep banging on about anger and frustration of farangs living here. I'd suggest you are cherry-picking the posters who suit your confirmation bias.
As for the Thailand Pass, obviously the elite could not care less about the unemployment in the tourist industry, arising from their decision to keep life difficult for the average tourist.
Agreed, for us with the wife/GF 23 years younger its very easy to relieve that frustration and anger......bring it on I say!!

You are correct. Years ago when dope was everywhere and the police turned a blind eye there were no pills except a few bar girls I knew were on pharmaceuticals. As the cops got heavier with dope more turned to 'powders' ie meth, speed etc. because much much smaller to traffic, hide, carry etc. and could return better profits for a lesser sized stash. I know they are totally opposite drugs but thats what happened, both here and most other places in the world. The policing of cannabis actually caused greater problems with addictions, crime etc. Portugal legalised all drugs and there has been a marked reduction in crime and addictions etc.
Pharmaceutical giants, tobacco companies, and others lobbied governments, and particularly the US government who in turn pressurised the rest of the world, to criminalise cannabis. In turn stories were fabricated, such as Reefer Madness and other movies, and the public brainwashed with this propaganda so widely its affects can still be seen today and especially among some of the Lock up Your Daughters ThaiVisa members, as shown in their comments above.
Nowdays of course the US government has taken an absolute reversal with cannabis, just like with Afghanistan, where what once was saving the world from imminent danger, now is considered of little concern.

Thailand can play important diplomatic role in Ukraine-Russia conflict ahead of APEC
How? Will Thailand be providing the 'pretties' as part of its "soft power" stategy??

It’s because they know that US will be in dire straits come November: economy crashing, inflation in double digits, political impasse after Republicans take both houses, deficit spending soaring, riots in the streets. It’s much easier to negotiate terms with a weakened partner.
Not a problem really....the US can just print some more money to pay for the ink and paper to print even more.

Agreeing or not to the partnership is no real deal at the end of the day. The US never keeps to its word if it doesnt suit them.

I wonder if the test was done like when I taught here in Bangkok: "Keep testing them until they pass. If they dont pass before 3.30 then give them the answers".

Just a few days ago there was a report of trafficked Burmese being arrested at the border after being abandoned by smugglers. The US and the international community have repeatedly emphasized to Thai authorities that trafficked persons should be treated as victims rather than criminals, but it never seems to sink in.
They're not Thai so they must be criminals.
