  1. Very true, if coming from another country. Actually, I have a Thai driving license and live in Thailand. Cheers 😀
  2. That sounds pretty good, thanks. Was the rental place you sed near to the beach, market or maybe near to a hotel? Cheers
  3. Hi Guys! We're gradually planning a trip to Krabi around March 2026 and trying to find a good scooter rental shop for a max 125cc scooter. We've already contacted 2 rental places in Krabi Town and the Thai wife got the message - "can only drive in Krabi province - can't drive into/around another province". Sounds a bit strange (to me), though a while back I heard talk of some rental shops restricting Thais to one province, perhaps to reduce the risk of the motorbike/scooter 'disappearing'. But - no idea if that "talk" was really true or not. Anyway, can any of you guys recommend a decent rental place in Ao Nang that doesn't have a "one province restriction", as we'd certainly like to be able to drive further , if we feel like it. Thanks for any hints 😁 Cheers
  4. Yes, mate - I'm pretty much in the same situation as yourself and likewise wondering the same things about electric bikes/scooters. So come on guys, help to fill us in with some good info - please. 😁
  5. Yes, that's very nice. However, I already have a home pump. 😊
  6. Thanks muchly, scubascuba3 - looks like the correct thing and easy to keep in the scooter. I'll buy & try one out and see if it works. I presume one end just screws onto the scooter tire (after removing the plastic cap on the scooter tire valve) - and the other end connects to the air pump. 😊 To Will B - yep, our gas station air pumps are often broken or otherwise unusable - sometimes months before they're working again. I have an ordinary (manual) air pump at home, but now and then it's necessary to inflate the tires while on the road. Nice pump, by the way!
  7. Okay, so all the gas/petrol stations around here have recently changed their air pump head from a T-head type to a straight Vertical head type, which may be excellent for cars, but makes it impossible to inflate my scooter tires/tyres. Are there any T-head adapters/extensions that can be "plugged in" to these Vertical heads at the gas station? NEW type at gas stations OLD type at gas stations
  8. Yes, now seen on their website. Many thanks for the link - much appreciated. Thanks, too, to Andrew Dwyer for the info - great! Cheers 😊
  9. Aaah....now that's a reply I definitely can use. I admit, I didn't see this anywhere on their website - will try to find it. Thanks 😁
  10. Really? Arrested? Is a smartphone a dangerous weapon......?😁
  11. Passport renewal soon. Anyone know if it's OK (or not OK) to bring my smartphone with me to their office? I want to use it to call Grab. Thanks
  12. Chiang Mai Hospital - great doctor (for eyes) that used a long time checking my eyes. I'd otherwise been to Princ Hospital and got what I reckoned was an incorrect diagnosis, so went to CM Hospital. Turned out I had something completely different wrong, and at CMH I was advised to get my eyes "laser checked" - and quickly, too! Excellent service and advice from CMH and I'm planning on getting a (mild) cataract in one eye done there, very soon. At this very moment they have a package deal for cataracts (all included) for 38K. Cheers and good luck
  13. Thanks - I rather suspected as much, but nice to be certain. Cheers
  14. Thanks for the info - very useful. Re 5. Are these pp photocopies colour or just black & white? 🤔
  15. Finance’s permanent secretary, Lavaron Sangsnit, insisted that the scheme will be funded under the Budget Act and the State Fiscal and Financial Disciplines Act. Thais aged 16 and over, earning less than 70,000 baht (US$ 2,000) a month and with less than 500,000 baht (US$ 3,600) in their bank accounts, are eligible to receive the 10,000-baht handout. Based on these conditions, approximately 50 million individuals will be eligible, a decrease from the initial estimate of 56 million. Aaahhh...Thai math again. "70,000 baht (US$ 2,000) a month and with less than 500,000 baht (US$ 3,600) in their bank accounts,".....half a mil Thb might be around the 142K Dollar mark, based on the 70K example, rather than a paltry 3.6K. No wonder the country is a leader in math.....
  16. Hell Yeah! Christmas lights and Christmas food (if any's available) - EVERY year, too! We enjoy the decorating and lights and all that goes with it. The Scootergirl is always asking if it's today's the day to start decorating. an a Merry C to all of you......
  17. Yes - was at the Lamphun office a couple of months ago (August) and same same for me - IO required 2 sets of EVERYTHING, including written forms. I presumed it was just a one-off thing, as the staff had changed since my last visit. Seems it's perhaps one of those "new requirements" that pop up all of a sudden without any apparent reason or warning - and will possibly disappear again just as quickly. I'd also booked an online appointment for 10am but the staff didn't seem to know what an "online appointment" was (or maybe didn't care). He just nodded me away to take a bog-standard queue number and I had to wait my turn, like everybody else. No big deal, really, as there weren't that many people waiting. Otherwise, everything went rather as expected (slowly!) and I was out of there again after around a couple of hours.
