change the VISA age for retirement VISA to age 0. This would be a huge money maker for any country, easier to track, less paperwork
-
I think many countries should change the retirement VISA from age (whatever it is) to age 0.
This VISA requires a person to report every 90 days and a new VISA once a year. This would make it a lot easier to track people.
It would also add a huge amount of money to the country. Expats and especially Digital Nomads can stay in the country and spend at least 65,000 bahts a month. Billions of dollars would enhance the economy and, at the same time, make it easier to track foreigners…who really do not cause many problems when considering the huge amount of money they contribute to the economy.

Worldwide there are getting to be a tremendous number of tourist. Most are naive about health care. They travel to countries where their insurance does not work...especially to the USA.
I believe there should be mandatory insurance for all travelers. It must be reasonable and maybe collected by the airlines.
Of course, the problem is abuse especially from USA since their health care is unGodly expensive.
Take a nice vacation. Smile for the camera. Never even consider health care vulnerability. Then bang…bankrupt or held in the hospital until the bill is paid. Wrong!!!

Significantly reduce price of BTS, Add ample parking that has easy access to trains at BTS stations. add more trains. add more cars to trains. significantly increase the cost of parking during business ours. move more companies out of the city core.
give tickets to people who do not move quickly when the light turns green. huge problem.
eliminate right turns as much as possible allowing 2 opposite lanes to flow thru lights at the same time.
maximize the number of cars thru an intersection by optimizing the light changing.
and many more ideas.

exercise everyday, eat a healthy whole food diet, regularly practice fasting, don't drink alcohol, don't smoke cigarettes, don't use non-prescription drugs, don't watch porn/masturbate. If you're overweight, lose it. Do this and your libido will improve immensely, in as little as 30 days, and you'll save money. Keep doing it and you'll surprise yourself and your partner(s) with your vitality.
of course I do not want to do that. ????

Just let me add...in the USA, the FBI, DEA, and police probably know all the drug people. Occasionally, there is a big 'drug' bust but...

these hospitals should be significantly cheap for Thais. It is a benefit for the citizens. for others...YES...they should pay more!
My main point is this...even though we pay more at these hospitals it is still significantly less than Ram in Chiang Mai and other 'international' hospitals.

I have lived 12 years in chiang mai. I go to the bars 3 to 4 times a week. I have never, never, never seen a flight. NEVER even when bars were opened until 4am.
I have no idea about road accidents from 12 to1am, 1 to 2am, etc

What is light running a function of? In other words, what causes light running? People will run the light when they know if they stop they will have to wait as much as 10 minutes for the next green light. a project needs to be started that maximizes the number of cars through the intersection. having only 1 lane go at a time is not good. this will cause light running.
Right turns are the problem. stop allowing them or allow only 10 seconds for right turn then turn on the green light for dual direction. IN USA many place do not allow these turns. the drive must go straight then U-turn and go back to the light.
I know intersection where I absolutely know there will be light running. so I am careful. the problem is huge in Thailand and I think the solution is even bigger.

Just a silly comment...smuggling cigs is a huge business. Especially from Russia to northern EU countries. If a country requires plain packaging then the smugglers from a non plain package country have a slight problem.
However, it is like the Mexican Wall trump wants to build...the frustrated Mexicans say...we will get over it.

i think the first thing they need to do is set a goal. for example, upon entering the line it should not take more than 20 minutes to exit. measure this by the minute or 15 minute intervals. whatever. then apply manpower as required. they know when the workload is going up.
they fail if it takes more than 20 minutes.
another thing is to add manpower when the lines get longer than a certain point. (this has to take into consdiertion the number of desks active)

All countries must develop a situation where people with or without an education can survive and have at least limited success. if the country removes a large number of jobs, then they need to make sure the replaced people can get employment elsewhere. For example, USA want to go to Medicare for all. Seems easy to do but maybe a million people might become unemployed at insurance companies and doctor/hospital staffs. In other words, develop the economy to give people alternatives. until you do that then manage the situation knowing people are trying their best to help their families...and, remember, they are citizens of the country.

Remember my number 1 rule....this is not my country. I live here but a citizen of another country. I must follow the rules. If I cannot then I can pray a lot because some of those people have 'real' lives here. Some should be able to pay fines, etc and stay. But got God's sake....learn and follow the rules/laws or find yourself going to your other home.

I learned a long time ago that 1000b received or given is not going to change my life. However, taking 1000b this way is going to make a big change in his life. So he loses a lot over 1000b. Also...just a side comment...she should also lose if it was only 1000b not 2000b. if it was only 1000b maybe she deserves to lose it.

since we expats may be required to buy health care insurance this should decrease the cost of the insurance. Hummm. Ram hospital gave my 'I feel ok ' daughter after a 2 day stay in the hospital a drug list to buy from them that totaled ... I hate to say the number now because I was so upset. it was certainly beyond 5 (I think 11). The 4 nurses showing me the drugs said each one to be taken before breakfast. I am sure that would have been very harmful even fatal results.
The cost at private hospitals will skyrocket again if expats must have insurance. that is how USA works. We will see what happens...although we all probably think we already know.

i get a little angry when this happens. however, I am so thankful that nothing happened to me and my passengers, I do not carry the anger any further. I think it is stupid to make a bad situation worse.

please everyone...expats and tourist have a 'cost of doing business'. a country begs for them but they must understand the associated cost? I did the math on how much each expat needs to pay to fix the unpaid medical bills. shocking...the number comes out to 120 bahts per expat. I really would like the government to do the calculations.
there seems to be a better way of getting this 120 b than making everyone to buy health care insurance for about ... at least 6k per month. yes, it would make Thailand's insurance companies a lot of money but how many expats will leave. I spend 80k per month in Thailand. many of you do also. losing people to other countries does not make too much sense over 120b. please correct this number if it is wrong.

maybe...just maybe...all the natural dropping from trees, birds, animals (including humans), Etc simply accumulated during the dry season. then heavy rain. all the 'natural' trash must go somewhere. You cannot filter the rivers, streams, and canals. it is all going to the ocean. I think this might be normal for countries with a long dry season then bang...heavy rains. I do not know but Pattaya is a huge cash cow for Thailand. hard to believe they are avoiding a solution. they know all goes bye bye if they ignore the problem.
Countries beg for tourist. trust me...there is a cost of doing business. pay that cost and all will be happy. ignore that cost and...sorry.

there seems to be a huge number problem here. there are about 68m people living in Thailand. I do not think 38m are long term visa holders.
another site says 2.5 m but does not mention long term vs short term. If 2.5m is divided by outstanding medical bills of 300m it comes out to about 120b. per expat.
how about charging 3,000 to renew the visa.
I think a complete study is needed...maybe again. I see most expats are from Asia....poor labor type people.
Thailand should compute the contribution long-term expats make to the economy. It certainly more than 120b. I send 80,000b/month.
If you look at it as a business, then 300m is a small price to pay for 'cost of business'. Sure, Thailand will make a lot more money if expats forced to buy insurance but they will also lose a lot from people leaving...and they will leaving and fewer people coming.
can you imagine if all of a sudden 10,000 (just a guess) condos go on sale in Bangkok, etc.
this argument is also valid with tourist. what is the cost of business. maybe tourist should pay 500b more per visa. then simply pay off medical bills that go unpaid
The solution seems easy to me but research is needed.

every pick-up has passengers facing the wrong way. Facing forward is deadly. Facing the back of the truck is safer. safest is having the person's back against the cab.
