  1. It's not my special something. It's my normal something. I wasn't mutilated as a child and learned to live with it. I think it's a bad thing to do to a child, boy or girl, and only justifiable in exceptional cases.

Loaded language again. Not meant to communicate. Only meant to promote an agenda. Yeah my parents were such bad people. Sure thing, mate, and the vast majority of parents in the USA at the time, also very very bad people, Darned mutilators!

Not bad, just misguided like yourself.

    That is so arrogant.

Sure, and I am entirely comfortable with my position. Mutilating babies for reasons of tradition, not least religious practice, is bad.

  2. I would use EVA first choice every time now - unless I win the lotto and can afford Thai Silk or BA. But even in that case I would prolly still go for EVA 1st class

Quantas have a good rep too but I've heard that they aren't so good coming back from BKK to EU as their planes aren't that well cleaned at the BKK turnaround

I don't think Qantas fly BKK to Europe any more since they loved up with Emirates and ditched BA.

Well a quick look just now shows Quantas flights from Manchester UK to BKK - but with a stopover in Dubai. It certainly doesn't look like they fly non-stop from LHR to BKK anymore which rules them out for me. Last thing I need on a 12 hour flight is to be grounded for 3 - 5 hours in a MIddle East airport half way.. Also Manchester is a non starter for me - I need LHR or Gatwick or I add another 4 hours to the journey.

EVA seem pretty modern. They just upgraded their premium cabins, so business is very modern. Unfortunately, they reduced leg room in Elite in the process. I avoid economy so haven't tried that yet.

I think that might be a codeshare with Emirates. I feel the same about the Middle East thing. Especially late at night.

  4. I'm happy for you and your relationship with your special something. Are you happy for me being VERY PLEASED INDEED to be cut and having it done while I was a baby? I think probably not. In my view, the uncut side mostly refuses to see it both ways and the cut side pretty much usually can. Nobody on the cut side thinks everyone should be forced to be cut (except perhaps Jihadist Muslims but best not to go there), but the uncut side seems all about forcing everyone to not be cut and stripping parents of having this choice for their babies. Surely there are much more important CRUSADES in the world. Opposing FEMALE circumcision, an entirely different procedure, might be a good start!

  5. I'm convinced there are two types of people who use a taxi at Suvarnabhumi.

The first group seem to always encounter huge lines and old taxis driven by unpleasant drivers who refuse to use the meter.

The other group rarely have a problem and generally reach their destination trouble free.

I am in the second group, oh lucky me smile.png

I find the same. And the only time I had trouble was also the only time I thought I'd be clever and pick one up at departures.

  7. EVA beats Thai hands down IMO for both price and quality.

Book EVA, you will not fly Thai again.

    Bang on!

I thought Thai Airways were OK until I tried Eva.

Eva plus = much newer planes, unless you pay the more expensive Thai schedule time flights. The cheaper Thai flights always seem to be on very old and tired 747's

Re the 747s, the older planes are refurbished first. The planes with the nice cabins are actually often older than the planes with the cruddier cabins!

My favourite spot on any plane I have flown so far is the front row of the upstairs business cabin on a Thai 747.. With no one next to you, it's like a quiet little room.

  8. Yes, a commercial jet can certainly fly with one engine. But it is a slower flight with a very real risk of missing connecting flights,

The various ETOPS rules determine that a plane has to be able to fly a certain distance on one engine. Modern engines are so reliable that that distance is now great enough that twin jets can now cross the larger expanses of oceans as they don't need to stay within a short distance of an airport. But on 1 engine they can't climb well and usually have to descend, hence airliners typically avoiding the Himalayas, which they can clear quite comfortably. It also means they are less efficient and burn more fuel, thus reducing range.

  10. As someone who wasn't done, I just find the idea of cutting off one of the most sensitive parts of the body horrific, regardless of any perceived benefits.

Cut men are fond of their dicks they way they are as well. In fact cut men tend to be more sexually creative and realize there is not only one male erogenous zone.

Sent from my Lenovo S820_ROW using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I think I would rather they remained undiscovered than remove the main one.

  11. I am certainly glad my parents didn't decide to cut me. It is my hope that this little boy be allowed to keep his penis intact, and that it be made a crime to cut young boys without their informed adult consent. If there is a real medical problem there may be a reason, but that is also debatable as there are often many different options in medicine

    Straight common sense.

    Well done.

It may seem that way but you'll find the overwhelming vast majority of men who had it done as babies are JUST AS HAPPY about the condition of their penises as those who are uncut! When it is needed for uncut men for later medical reasons, circumcision is usually the ONLY option.

Apart from the ones that end up with no penis at all thanks to complications of course.

I think it's true that if you don't remember it, you won't miss it. But actually having it and knowing that it contributes a lot to sexual function, I know I would miss it, even if it didn't hurt like hell to have it removed.

  12. Thai fails with the lack of individual in flight entertainment and (on my last flight with them) the staff seemed quite surly - much better on Thai domestic.

When did you last fly Thai and to where? I'm assuming the UK because of the BA reference, but Thai have modern cabins on the UK route now.

  13. We always fly EVA, good food, nice people, and most important they have a upgrade to the Coach seats, I believe it's called Elite, about 300.00 US Dollar more, well worth it, more support, a bit longer & wider, plus reclines more, about 60 on each flight and they are located in there own area on the plane.

I just they would move, or at least alter, the metal box for the in flight entertainment which takes up a big chunk of foot space. Otherwise it is good. I would make this the bare minimum standard for long haul economy.

  14. I've flown Thai Airways and Eva to UK.

Both offer an excellent service and I have no complaints about anything.

The only advantage with Eva is, that they offer cheaper tickets.

Can't really understand what is all this bashing about Thai Airways........I think it's just a habit of certain TVF members.

Last time I flew Thai they still had no in-seat entertainment, just the old 1980's drop down screen, service and food were OK though. Should you want to spend a bit more then Eva's premium economy is best by far.

They have had seat back screens for a couple of years now.

  15. I have flown EVA from LAX to BKK my last seven trips. Why? Simple. EVA has an excellent class called Premium Elite. You get a nice big chair, plenty of elbow room, it reclines, it is forward of coach just behind First class. You get priority checkin at EVA counter which means basically no line. You get priority boarding which isn't much of an issue since the section is reserved but it still is nice. For the extra $450 USD extra it costs above coach, I love it. Never seen a baby in this section yet. Price I guess tends to keep them in the back. Sorry but I have had several trips ruined by babies crying and jumping around. I just don't want that on a 13 hour flight from LAX to Taipei. And as I bunch up my flights on the same airline I can use the miles. EVAs mileage program is not as good as it used to be but every little bit helps

So in layman terms, it's just business class!

    No, it's premium economy..

  16. yes they are a morman run hotel chain --- i used to like staying at marriott hotels until i knew of this now dont !!

yes they are a morman run hotel chain --- i used to like staying at marriott hotels until i knew of this now dont !! same as wetbix breakfast food now owned by christian group -- completely changed the taste, who knows whats in it now ?

Sanitarium, the Seventh Day Adventist company who own Weet-Bix have been making it since the thirties... but if you can remember what it used to taste like before then...

He remembers when Nana was all fields..

  17. Agree with others and EVA win hands down......

However, also check out BA. I am going to the UK this summer (so it is BKK to LHR which is always more expensive than booking from the UK) and BA came out noticeably cheaper than EVA.

IMO British Airways are about as far ahead of EVA, as EVA are of Thai.

If I was to fly economy, and I generally don't because of the long legs, I would always choose Thai because of the more spacious seats.

  18. I'm flying LHR-BKK this Thursday on EVA. Have flown both loads of times.. Never flown economy on EVA, only premium and the old business, but I always found them ok. The food is always a disappointment though. Will be flying their new business cabin to BKK and premium economy back.

If Thai were to install premium economy and use their new business cabin on the route and have prices that matched EVA, I would probably choose Thai. Not much in it though.
