  1. Got a drenching at the top end of soi 6 at 8.00pm last night, had just got off a bike taxi heading for a night out, just got on another bike and went back home, it was a bunch of tattooed dead heads acting like 12 year olds, I suppose I should have known better really. Ah well, next day out will be the 20th I guess.

Bet it was from Soi 6 Corner Bar ...I wouldn't expect anything else!!
  2. As much as I am looking forward to the night I would have thought to have started a new thread may have a biger impact. I think when people see a thread of 49 pages they just give it a miss... too much to read through!!

  3. If you've resized the web browser contents to make fonts/pics etc bigger, then simply:

hold <Ctrl> key down and hit 0 = (zero key) resets to standard/default size

hold <Ctrl> key down and hit - = (minus key) makes smaller

hold <Ctrl> key down and hit + = (plus key) makes larger

Thanks this worked for the text on the page I am viewing BUT the tool bar at the bottom is still huge as is the tool bar above.

    Ant suggestions?

It could be that you have changed your Screen Resolution by mistake.

What Operating System are you using?

If you are using Vista, close all Windows and Right Click on a blank part of the Desktop, then Left click "personalize", then go to "Display Settings" and play with that - try clicking on the "how do I get the best display" Link for example.

    Thanks...all is well

  5. You can go online to the A.A. or the R.A.C. in the UK print of the form for a International Driving Permit. Fill it in and send it to them by air mail with the fee enclosed. You will get the international Driving Permit you need for other countrys in around 10-12 days sent to you home address in Pattaya if that is where you are.

  6. Prior to coming to live in Thailand over 5 years ago the wife and I sought information from Hull Consulate in the UK. It is possible to have a Retirement visa issued in the UK but requires a crime free certificate issued by the police plus other details such as financial income.

We applied for and received our O type visa by post from Hull.

Within 90 days of arriving in Pattaya we converted this visa to a retirement visa here in Pattaya. Every year we extend out origional Visa which was converted to a retirement visa. This probably takes about 15 minutes.

You will notice that previous posters are quite adamant about what you can get or not!

Really different countries have different arrangements for this.

Speaking from my experience re the UK the Thai Immigration do not ask for a crime free details to convert to a Retirement Visa here in Pattaya

  7. Please be aware that there are Thai gold snatches at work on the darkside. If you do wear gold around your neck it would be best to hide it or not to wear it at all. Also they are not only targeting foreign people but also Thai.

    Be safe.

  8. I can recommend the Dory and the Cod. Both are to die for. But the last ime I had the cod which I had not had for a long long time....too long, and it certainly did not disappoint and brought back old memories of F&C.

Come on you guys take up the "Bert challenge".

  9. Thank you George for footing the bill. It was a great night ...sorry you could not make it. And yes it is the highest turnout of any TV party.

Nice to put a face to the name.

  10. As far as I am aware the playing of music must be supported by the display of a music licence. For example one for "foreign" music and one for "Thai".

However I am sure those on the forum who do own bars will be able to be more specific than I.

The playing of music not supported by the appropriate licence may lead to a fine approx 50,000 baht + 1 night in the cell for the owner/cashier, and the equipment used confiscated by the "music" police.

  11. hes for real, he works for the soi 9 police, hes german, I had the unfortunate experience of meeting him and he believes he has full police powers

Well it is sad to say,I have discovered that he works for a high ranking police officer in Chonburi. I ashamed because of this mans behaviour. But all is not lost I am hoping a complaint will be made to the Chonburi "high ranking Policeman" about his behaviour because in my opinion it brings into disrepute genuine foreign police volunteers, and so we get tarred with the same brush!

Apologies to all for his disgraceful behaviour.

  13. Getting to Pattaya will not be any problem.

However, you stand a fair chance that you won't see much more then day time beach and spend evenings in your room.

Central Pattaya is closed, as are all other major shopping malls (Mike's, Big C, Royal Garden). Some might open today, we'll know that around 11 AM.

Last night was under curfew with ALL entertainment closed, and ALL convenience stores (7/11, family mart,...) and ALL people asked to remain indoors. Fair chance it'll happen again today, unless the unrest in many provinces subsides and not intensifies during today.

This discription would be good but I know that some bars still open, 7/11, family mart etc. The streets had a lot of tourists just being told to go home but not really understanding why.

A decision by the Chon buri Police Chief will be made today regarding curfew or no curfew tonight in Pattaya.
