  1. Not that I'm American....I'm Scottish... and that is a whole other ball game... but I do know in Pattaya the ex servicemen/women of American meet every 1st Tuesday of the month. There may be a similiar arrangement for BKK?

I do know a couple of Americans living in the Korat area. And a few in Pattaya...the rest are in USA :o

  2. We have just signed up to TOT silvercyber ADSL. We live on the dark side.

Initially OK....now get timed out or nothing happens. Can get to homepage no problem. If I try to access Hotmail can wait forever. If the wife tries to click on a link to whatever never loads?

So does anyone know if this peculiar to the TOT ADSL issue or is there some problem I may be having in my computer that could be resolved?

Up until we moved house we were with TT&T and never had any problems!

So if there is anyone out there who has an answer please let me know.

    Thanks

  3. There are many shops that make these to order on the Thepprasit Rd, just go to a few and ask for a qoute as the prices do vary depending on how busy they are.

If its a small job, just draw what you want with dimensions and they can qoute right away. Otherwise they'll need to go to inspect your property first.

There is one down on Thepprasit opposite or near soi 8. They came, messured up, delivered and fitted. Did the whole house ( 3 bed 2 bath bungalow) for just over 8,000 baht.

  4. I should point out that it also includes yellow and white areas. Also please be aware that 'faded checkered paint is no excuse'.

It makes it easier for you when it has been removed by the police if you know your motorbike number. If you do the the police will be able to locate where it is.

  5. There is a house in our village that has 8/9 dogs. I won't mind if you come and help yourself to all of them! They make hellish noise at all times of the day and night. They also 'go for you' if you are not aware what they are like. Personally I always carry a flick stick, so if they do, I brain them. Or as an alternative running over them with the truck sorts them out!

Well maybe they ARE aware of what you are like and that is why they "go for you!!!!!"

They do NOT discriminate between Thai or Foreign people. They are not 'domesticated' dogs and are very dangerous. I would certainly be cautious about taking dogs onboard who have been roaming 'soi' dogs especially if I had any children. This style of dog seems to appeal to their 'owners' though! So what style of dog are YOU looking for?

  7. We were in the Avenue on Saturday and the car park outside and inside was full with many cars double parked. As we strolled throught the complex it didn't seem overly busy!

I wondered if some people are using the car park so they can visit other places of entertainment over 2nd road! :o

  8. I think I must be thick. But I scanned a word document with a view to adding text. The scanner has autmatically assigned it as jpeg!

I just can get into it to edit.

Is it possible to change jpeg to word? Then I think I edit no problems.

Anyone know how? Like the best programme to open it with?

    Thanks

  9. What do you want? Shade during day time or personal safety during the night?

My choice would be personal safety. The walkway along beachroad has many hazards at night thus the reason why informed ex pats do not walk along it at night.

In addition to the pruning I would suggest they install additional lighting at night.

  10. My experience for car only was that I required an International Driving Permit. I got mine from AA, but RAC also do them. Easy to get, go on line print off form, fill in, enclose cheque etc, post get back about 10 days later.I had to copy every page and sign each page of International Driving Permit in front of lady at desk. They were not interested in my Driving License from UK! I only had to do colour test, depth test and emergency stop test. I didn't have to go and drive a car or do computer test.

But I know of people who have gone with their license from DVLA UK and were processed!

    TIT

All the best whatever you do.

  11. Browsing through a few of the free glossy property magazines available in Pattaya I notice some "studio's"(bed-sitters) for sale at 3-4 million, and other condo's and apartments- which are very average -with rediculous prices at 5, 10 million up.

Surely with the glut of places here for sale and rent and the economy problems, etc there is a massive scam being attempted?

Who in their right mind would pay such nonsence amounts?

    Am I right or not?

Spot on. There continues to be the view if we build it they will come. They haven't linked in the fact that major airlines are with drawing services to Thailand because of the lack of people coming here. Also I read somewhere that Raimon Land a big property agent in Thailand had announce the values of property.. some were doubled!!

    Higher inflation here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. As it was an International License he should have told them to keep it and just get a new one back home.

...Which costs more than 600 baht...

As someone else noted, only 7 Quid (441 Baht) and he'll have to get a new one anyway as they're only valid for a year.

The AA/RAC will post the permit to you for an extra fee I seem to remember the total was £15. This is way cheaper than the flight to the UK. And actually if this permit is produced to the police here they are not interested in any License issued by DVLA. Nor are they interested in any 'locally' issued license in any home country...only the permit.

  13. Well although mamanoodle and I couldn't make the full 'monty' party!!! :D Happy Birthday Monty. We were at our local celebrating the birthday of a regular ....'it was a Lion of a party' :D and got home early at 2.30 a.m.

    See you both later.

....full Monty...well I can assure you not only Monty was filled up to the limit.... :D

Perhaps I should explain the 'full Monty'! It refers to male stripers. And the Full Monty is a term for getting your clothes off! So it was a tongue in cheek remark! :D

  15. I also had a great time and it was good to meet saorsa. I hope you enjoyed yourself. Look forward to seeing you again as part of the group.

  16. As well as the 'snatchers' there are groups of 'pickpocket' theives working Baht buses going along second road.

Make sure when you are on a baht bus that you keep tight hold of your wallet/important things. Last night 4 of us boarded a baht bus at the top of 13/4 - 2nd road, within a few yards 6 thai females get on and cram themselves into the seats around us. So after they were confronted by one of us they rang the bell and got off just before the Klang.

    Be aware, be safe.

  17. Good call Raro! Wifey wants to try the whale so we'll probably also call into Berts followed by PBG for a low-alcohol evening for a change. (I think I'm allergic to Outback, keep waking up with a banging headache after visits...)

PC mamanoodle and I will be at the whale on a plate location just prior to 7p.m. we could then head off to PBG after that?

  18. We, the Pattaya Night-Out Supervisory Board (OBIAV), have chosen the Pattaya Beer Garden for this forthcoming Friday.

No-shows will have to foot the bill.

mamanoodle and me will be there but we will eat first at Tropical Berts.

So what time are you 'guys' starting at the Pattaya Beer Garden?

  19. You have no chance for Iron Bru, haggis, black pudding, white pudding, fruit pudding.Deep fried mars bars etc. Can get mars bars ok.

Well you can get black pudding but its crap! Go to Nettos or ALDI LIDL. Buy several black puds and bring them over. Same if you like the other stuff. But if you do this will send you weight through the roof. But if you come one way busines class give you more luggage allowance.
