What happens if my non-imm O visa is issued in my current U.S. passport but I then have to get a replacement U.S. passport because I ran out of pages?
Can I use the current visa in the "old" passport along with the new passport? or should I first get a new passport and then the Thai visa?
I am having the Thai NYC consulate issue the visa.
Thanks!

Hi
My 18 year old daughter will be an internship in Bangkok this summer and needs to get from our condo (Sukhumvit Soi 18) to the Rajademnern area area every weekday.
She will take the BTS to Piyathai and a taxi from there. I am looking for a safer taxi option than just hailing a random one-way each taxi day i.e. something that can be booked/tracked. Uber will be too $$ and Grab Taxi probably inconvenient (I have had zero luck with it). Any options/suggestions?
Or, any ideas on how/where to hire a reasonably priced private car from Sukhumvit each morning?
Thank you

As there are quite a few members on this site from the manufacturing industry, I am looking for a few guest speakers for an MBA class in management that I am teaching in Bangkok. The sessions would be about an hour on topics to be discussed, If any interest, please PM me and I will get back with details

My work contract will expire on July 1
My nom-Imm O will expire on July 15th
I will need to make 4-5 trips outside of Thailand between July 15th and Sept 15th
When I return each time I will not be working, not will I have had a chance to expend my non-imm O
I will be a new, annual non-imm O when I return to the USA in late September
====
So my question was: Once my non-imm O expires July 15th and once I no longer need to work in Thailand starting July 15, I will just come and go (4-5 times) with the normal 30 day tourist visas being issued on arrival, is that correct?
-
I mean that, after my "o" expires, I would make 4-5 single tourist entries in about two months. Wud that work?
-
Once the non-imm O visa expires (e.g. if I leave Thailand and return sometime during the last 90 day stay), I would then just come in on a tourist visa, is that right?
I will probably make 4-5 trips in and out on a tourist visa before returning to the USA (where the Thai consulate issues a new 1-year non-imm O visa every year with Zero hassle). My wife won't be with me so an extension while in Thailand is not possiibe
-
Thanks. That was going to be my next question.
As the visa expires on July 15th, if I took a trip and arrived back to Bangkok on, say, July 10th, would I get 1 a final 90 day stay (until Oct 10th in this case)? And if I were to then leave during that final 90 day period, then I'd simply come back on a tourist visa?
Or, I could optionally extend the non-Imm O (spouse visa) as you suggest? Does my wife have to be in Bangkok with me when I make this extension?
Thank you again

I assume that it is because it is a non-imm b?

Oh that's great news Thanks

Can anyone please help me with this
I have a spouse visa. Expires August 01 2016. I can stay I think for 90 days after expiry It is easy to obtain annually from a Thai consulate abroad
I have been offered a teaching position starting April 01. Ending July 30. They require that I have a proper visa and work permit. They will provide.
The teaching job ends on July 30 when my non-imm visa and work permit will presumably end. But, I want to stay in Thailand until September
If my work permit and visa expire when I am in Thailand (e.g. July 30) will I have to immediately leave and reapply for a spouse Visa abroad (which I assume will be xxld out when I get a non-immigrant B/work visa?)
Any insights?
Thanks

Am here for two months and need to rent a road bike that I can use to ride around Suan Sirikit. I need this as part of my knee rebab protocol
Any suggestions?

Hmmm. This is a great idea I think. Scanning and printing a number of full size copies that are folded might be the best approach. otherwise, the information will become too small as you suggest
I have been carrying around a color image of my passport on my iPhone for a couple of years and everyone accepts that. if in a crunch (like at AIS), they just ask me to email the image right from my iPhone to them
(in fact, we carry copies of all of our important documents an encrypted folder on Dropbox that the iPhone can access)
Another option is to get a " international drivers license" on Khaosan road on which they will put your passport number and all other information. I would not use a fake ID card like this with a policemen, but it comes in handy in almost every other situation such as domestic airport security, building security, motorcycle rentals, and any other time that some of you want something official.

The absolute best thing to arm yourself with is self defence skills. Find a good Krav Maga school, simple, effective and easy to learn with the added benefit of getting some good exerecise.
Yes. Krav Maga. After multiple sessions you will have the skills to defend yourself. It is bad-ass stuff but it is meant to be. There is a guy here who teaches it. Really nice. PM me and I'll send details

I am a member of Fitcorp and have used their PTs there for awhile. They are very good, but indeed expensive. I'd be up for organizing an informal exercise group to meet Benjakiti or Lumpini or Benjasari. I have done this before and its a great workout--and free. PM me if any interest

Was in the new Emporium food court yesterday that just opened on the fifth floor. What a disappointment! It's poorly lit with bad signage and prices that are 3-4X higher than Terminal 21. Even makes Paragon look cheap. It appears they are targeting the expatriate ladies who lunch crowd or clueless tourists.

This may sound obvious but I think it comes down to simple situation awareness and then carrying yourself with a level of confidence so the bad guys will think twice about you and then target someone else.

I find that choice of clothing has a huge effect:
1) No more socks
2) If you can find shirts made out of bamboo fibre (they sell them in Siem Reap), I highly recommend them. A huge difference
3) On the second floor of Ploenchit Center is a cloting outlet store that sells ExOfficio brand. Great clothes for hot weather
4) If you need exercise gear, then heated gear by Under Armor is great. Adidas has its own brand

Move or get some earplugs.
Wow that is a brilliant and insightful suggestion. Solved all my problems. Thank you so much.
I hope you continue to make suggestions to others as valuable and as helpful as this

It's an apartment so my options are limited to what we can do temporarily. The wall is concrete I think. I see sound proofing sheets that one can hang. Maybe try those
-
We share a wall with another apartment. They are very loud (voices. kid screaming). Looking for a company that can do a "fix" by installing some sound proofing of one wall.
Any suggestions
(and please: spare me the cute responses like "have you thought about moving" or "get some earplugs)
Thank you
