  1. My monthly Social Security payment dropped 6.33% in one month, since my SSA payment gets converted to Thai Baht, in Bangkok Bank's New York branch, and then transferred into my Direct Deposit account, in Thailand For me... it tanked
  2. I hope so, as my SSA payment has very recently absorbed about 75% of next year's COLA increase! ????
  3. P.S. Has she EVER shown/taught YOU a better, more logical way to do something or handle a THAI situation here, than you would have thought of?
  4. Well thought out explanation, I couldn't say it better. The belief in magic and mysticism runs deep here. She doesn't sound willing to listen to you, nor accept your logic; I'd say it's pointless to fight it. Like BangkokReady suggested, just "do what you want, and try to ignore her." Resistance is futile. They have been assimilated. Take the good with the good; try to see it as your free education into Thai-ism, and try to avoid being supremely frustrated. It's bad for your mental and physical health. Surely there's a humorous side to all this? Who knows, she COULD be right, .000001% of the time! ???? Edit addendum: There ARE occasions where "The Thai Way" will make better sense (in Thailand, or in Thai situations)... surprising, to our Western mind, but nevertheless true. Have you EVER been able to teach her ANYTHING, or open her mind to a different way of seeing or understanding ANYTHING? Even once?
  5. Agree 100% with OP, Lazada has been a dream to purchase from, ALWAYS immediate "customer-is-always-right" experience, RAPID refunds, immediate response, all using a Thai ATM (Mastercard) account.
  6. Guess it's time to enact "above normal quality control" measures from now on... อิอิอิ
  7. I'm on my 3rd Mastercard ATM card with them in as many months. First fiasco was the card flat out stopped working. Cost me 100 Baht to replace it. NEXTt fiasco was the card started saying my long term hePIN was incorrect, and the ATM confiscated my card(!). Back at the local branch we verified my PIN was correct(!) so no charge, but no explanation for the f up, either. Today... with the brand new replacement card, wouldn't work at one store (said contact bank) but then later worked at an ATM, then Burger King, then Villa Market just fine. I've gotten to just expect the card to MAYBE work... 50% of the time now, which s*cks.
  8. You're supposed to notify your new local Immigration (police) office, in person, within 24 hours of moving to your new residence (in Korat). I got fined 2000 baht for not having been aware of that technicality.
  9. I see many "Shimano" transmission parts in a Google search, showing up as being sold on Lazada. Good luck!
  10. Shopee refunds have to be approved by the seller; a formula for disaster.
  11. I'd go for a WRITTEN reprimand, to be included in his personnel file, verbal reprimands mean nothing, besides being possibly problematic, later on (his word against your word, accusations, etc.)
  12. Anyone with real insight/information, as to WHEN exactly, this scenario of ceasing online sales will/would occur? And the odds as to this aspect actually occurring?
  13. Lazada works perfectly for my vitamin orders, but I use my Bangkok Bank issued Mastercard ATM card, which is associated with my account there, to pay. 100's of orders, never a single issue, the occasional refund, issued flawlessly. ♡
  14. Story continues... Also injured with a cracked skull was 41-year-old Lek Sosud. According to Lek, he had come over just to visit his friend Wichit when the Swedish man, whose name has been not released at this time by Pattaya Police, came home and accused the two men of having an affair. Lek denies this allegation and stated the two men were just hanging out as friends. A furious argument began and according to Lek the Swedish man grabbed a knife from the kitchen, stabbed his boyfriend several times and then attacked Lek, slamming his head into a counter and wall several times. The foreign man then fled. Pattaya Police are tracking down the Swedish suspect as of press time and have urged the man to turn himself in and give his side of the story. They fear, however, that he may try to flee the country and have alerted Immigration.
  15. Just one American voice speaking... but after having lived my first 55 years in the states? Thailand is heaven on earth, comparatively. Here since 2006, and never considered returning. The above posts are very valid, by the way.
  16. Alcohol, the gift that gives... (alltooften aggressive insanely violent results)
  17. This Japanese knockoff is available on Lazada in Thailand, at 1/4 the price; just search "Visine".
  18. Ah, using old truck tires for the extraction process... By the book, as per airplane manufacturer's guidelines, to be sure... /s
  19. Hungry and sleepy... So much (of self-caused and created) drama, rush to hospital... overreact much?
