I expect you know but remember that Don Mueang lost the BKK airport code when Suvarnabhumi opened (in 2006?). It has been DMK since. "Bangkok International" used to belong to Don Mueang too but is generally tied to the BKK code, so changed at the same time.

For the aviation geeks, VTBD and VTBS are their respective 4 letter ICAO codes, the 3 letter codes being from IATA.

Yes. I use BKK when talking about Bangkok town but, indeed, in a thread about Don Mueang airport I should have used that apt code, ie DMK. I'll keep that in mind otherwise it can lead to confusion. ????

But she wants a Mira. Unless she has never enquired about a Celerio?

It has something to do with when she was a very young  impoverished Isaan village girl.

She saw a Mira one day and thought how happy she would be to have one like that.

    Now she can.

So, it's more like a sentimental buy for her. Not really a practical one.

Wifey wanted a Mira a while ago but was put off by the stupid amount of money most people wanted even for a heap of junk. Good ones are few and far between and go for much more than they're worth imho. 250k and even higher is often asked for and 100k for said junk.

We gave up looking and are in the market for an ev.

Yes. She found one on the Net in very good shape in Pitsanulok for 250k.

Just making up her mind before going there to check it and maybe buy it.

She has a car but finds it more convenient to zip around the village on her motocy.

The Mira would protect her from sun and rain.

And it will be a new toy!

No way I could fit in myself!

And, Yes I think it's crazy money. ????

Thanks also to all who posted replies.

I don't believe the nuclear war mongers. All bets would be off. Russia would disappear off the map, as would most of Europe, so what the heck would be the point?  If China got involved....? Well I really don't think that's ever going to happen. Despite their apparent support for Putin, they are nowhere near stupid enough to get dragged into that. In fact quite the opposite. And the same goes for India and Pakistan. North Korea wouldn't last long under a hail of US warheads either.

I can't believe Truss ever came out with such a stupid statement, but maybe you have a source for that.

Sure, things could escalate. Putin will whine like sxxx if European bases are used to repel his wretched wreckers. An air led defense has a much greater potential I would imagine than land based. It would be in Ukraine airspace, a friendly territory. Any incursions by Moscow would immediately be flagged as a violation of international law, and an act of war.

But it seems the world is just watching and waiting, but for what is anybody's guess. How bad does it have to get? I think if the US and Europe got themselves together, not sure really what Putin's answer would be. He would only use nuclear in retaliation or in response to an existential threat to Russia, something that, despite his rubbish rhetoric, has never been on the cards.

I very well understand the geostrategic and economic motivations of the US to wage a proxy war war against Russia in the Ukraine. That the EU vassal states follow diligently their American Leader to WWIII is clear to me too. But, though I've learned a lot about that conflict I totally fail to see what would be the profit for a Brexit UK to go nuclear against Russia, Unless the UK is truly well more vassal to the US than I thought. Because, of course the UK decision to go nuclear first against Russia will have to be approved the US.

  5. The drums of war are beating louder every day.

The UK Armed Forces Chief has already declared that the UK military must be ready to fight Russia any day now and asked the troops to tell their loved ones that they're soon going to war. Liz Truss has said that she is ready to go nuclear against Russia. Boris Johnson has just made a surprise visit to Zelensky to tell him not to get into peace talks with Satan Putin.

And Macron has made a very disquieting speech that has alarmed the French. Basically he said that their carefree life of abundance is over and they must be ready for "sacrifices"  and privations from now on. Did he mean WWIII is coming?

Enormous strategic and financial interests are at stake to make this Ukraine proxy war to go on and maybe develop into a full scale WWIII. Maybe nuclear.

  6. I'm in the same situation.

It's look, talk but no come close.

At the first signs of flu-like discomfort four days ago my wife fortunately went immediately in self-isolation fearing Covid-19 as it has returned in our Isaan district village.

She did indeed tested positive and got high fever for a day.

The fever has gone but she doesn't feel well all over.

    Another test tonight.

And, yes it's irritating that I cannot come close to her even when just talking.

Lucky I am as I'm not positive at this time.

  7. The wife just got Covid-19. She felt sickly three days ago and went in self isolation fearing Covid-19.

Yesterday she got checked positive and with high fever.

Today the fever has abated but she still feels sick all over.

Quite a few cases have appeared in our Isaan district village.

It's fortunate that she had the good sense of isolating right at first symptoms so me and the family may just not have been contaminated.

I don't like them at all. They are way too big, they guzzle gas like a drunken sailor guzzlers beer, and they seem to be designed for people with extra money, who are less practical. Tell the wife NO!

My wife decides. I follow. She decided for the H-RV and for Papa's Revo (he liked a Ranger...). ????

  9. The wife has set her mind to buy a Fortuner 2023.

Apparently there is an order queue.

She'll drive it like she drives our H-RV now.

I don't like to drive in Thailand. I just ride my motocy.

She wonders if she should put X-tra baht into the 4W model.

We live in Isaan but don't really go off-road.

Any one here has an opinion about the Toyota Fortuner, 4W or not?

I thought executor can not be a beneficiary

Can an executor of a will be a beneficiary?

It is legal and common practice for a beneficiary to be the executor of a will, like when a surviving spouse or adult child is named to serve as executor and also receives an inheritance from the will.

  11. As long as my mother was alive I had no Will.

After she died I made a Holographic Will to the benefit of my stepsister's children.

In 2014 I made three Wills benefiting universally the Thai girl I was living with in Pattaya and cancelling my previous Will.

I have only a motorcycle and money in three banks

Money in the bank in Thailand : Thai lawyer in Pattaya wrote the Will

Money in the bank in Singapore : Singapore lawyer in Singapore wrote the Will

Thai girl is Executor and Beneficiary for both Wills.

Money in the bank in Belgium : I wrote a Holographic Testament naming her.

What is interesting is that both lawyers (TH and SIN) insisted in my naming a Plan B beneficiary in case the original beneficiary was no longer available at the time of disposing of the Wills. I named Green Peace.

That Thai girl and I got married a couple years ago so this should simplify even more the Wills' executions.

  12. Wife had a problem with Shopee and so no more buying through them.

I just bought a new HP computer from a big big name company advertising on its web site that model at a good price.

I had a problem installing that new printer and realized that it had been sent to me by another company obviously subcontracted by the Big guy. No sign of a guaranty in the package.

All my future online orders will be strictly though Lazada.
