  1. Hi,

Just out of curiosity for a newbie like myself, but what about diesel engines? Enough of you guys drive diesels around (Vigos, Forutners, Pajero Sports etc) to have at least thought once of converting them. I'm aware that torodial tanks are available too so killing your storage space shouldnt be a reason not to.

Any ideas about the feasibility of converting diesel to LPG?

I pray this doesnt start another flaming war.

    :D

Flaming war :shock1:, HERE, god forbid. All civilized here, well almost.

We have talked about this in the past. Where are the threads, hmmmmmmmmmmmm, don't know but katabeachbum will fill you in on the info for sure. :)

  2. Here in Hua Hin it seems that the majority of farang don't bother with a helmet, which got me thinking today,

"What is the mind set and what is the thought process behind going without at least the basic protection"

I am not going to knock the farang who goes without, but I would genuinely appreciate honest answers from any one here who just does not bother ever wearing one or carries it just in case BIB are around.

I think there is an underlying thing about being told what to do by authority. LOS, can do what you like with little fear of a BiB problem, sort of a rebel thing. :)

  3. looks pretty similar to the calibre model they sell here, just bit less power i guess but a great looking car, saw one the other day. has anyone got the 2 door version yet? any reviews or prices? looking at buying a 2 door navara and would love to here some opinions on it.

Plenty of info on this forum about the Navara, many do not rate it!!

I bought one of the first ones when they came out, 2 door (4 x 2) LE spec for 619k Baht in 2007.

Now has over 90k km's on it & still rattling and rolling along.

Personally I would wait a bit for the new Ford Ranger and Chevy/Isuzu pickups.

Nissan have oiked their prices up over the years & the Nav is not good value anymore!! - just my opinion.

If your rolling in dosh, go for the Vigo the bloated up ones!.

I totally agree with the '' rattling & rolling '' AND an honest positive post. :)

  4. Well all I can say is that it's certainly not hard to get to 100% helmet usage. Staying there though might be hard.

Before new year's the police in Chiang Mai put up stops everywhere - either to buy new year's presents, or because it's the "dangerous 7 days" - probably both. After a few days of this, I didn't see a single person on a motorbike without helmet. Including passengers - a novel concept for Thailand.

But, once everyone is wearing a helmet the police will lose interest quickly - no fines, no money...

But they won't always wear a helmet OR insure their bike, a continuous easy flow of fines, easy money, IF the BiB work,

which they don't or won't. The BiB job is mainly to cover what they do privately. Believe me l know.

  5. Yes, It sure brings out the vigilante in me. But as others have said, Thais are generally deeply offended by this type of crime, and yes speed is all important, as the taxi driver and his family may disappear, fearing both a big jail term and a large compensation claim. You definitely need a specialist lawyer who understands sexual assault cases. As your daughter is so young, her evidence will be less important than the medical opinion, which must leave no doubt. There are also several international NGOs and others in this field who have offices in Bangkok and provide assistance to the government. Google 'child sexual abuse in Thailand'.

Personally, I would have a real job keeping my cool, and I work in mental health. I would certainly not rest until justice was done, as such a public crime as this leads me to think that this was probably not the only time the taxi driver has assaulted a young girl. Given his job there are other possibilities here that don't bear thinking about. This may just be the tip of a very nasty iceberg. All the best with it, and I really hope your daughter will be OK. PM me if you need to talk more.

    +1

  6. Hi guys, not gonna get in a pissing contest over this, if you will look carefully at the front page of the forum Bikes in Thailand is not a subforum of the Motor forum it is its own separate forum and the Motor forum is for cars. Cheers.

Well it is still here if you want to look at it.

Your right " sbk ", motorcycle helmets, motorbike forum, full stop.:clap2:

Think the OP's post idea was to let '' every '' house hold that has a bike the latest news, and NOT just the bike enthusiast forum. :) OP :clap2:

  7. wow, i normally would say that no matter what you cant have vigilante justice, but fukc I would be tempted to donate 50,000bht to the local hit man and deal with this scum in the fastest way possible.

Sidjameson if law cannot resolve this matter , then likely a "donation" is unavoidable.

    I hope.

  8. Latest update from my wife.

My daughter had finish her checkup & was told that a department under childcare is there to takeover the case.

I assume its the "Child and or Youth Protection Bureau". Had remind my wife for the police report & laywer if necessary.

transam what the " BiB"? . My wife & child are both in Trang (southern part).

BiB, boys in brown, police. Sorry to read the latest details and l am sitting here fuming.

  9. Thanks all,

Had advise my wife to contact police first. But she got worry no evidence... therefore she insist for check up before police.

thanks geriatrickid for the "Child and or Youth Protection Bureau" info. Will advise my wife on this. I waiting for her call oso.

    Very worry...

The wife should really go to the BiB now and tell them what happened and that she is getting a medical report.

  10. Believe you can do it up to 90 days before hand

Suggest a look in the Motoring/Bikes here on TV, several threads on this, and each DLT seem to set their own rules.

Yep, in Ubon l could NOT renew beforehand, perhaps that has changed recently but last year no. ;)

  11. It seems that Henna stain can last a month. I hope that you breaking the skin hasn't permanently '' tattooed '' the skin.

I have a mark on my hand that has been there for 20 yrs that is now a tattoo, from a colour used at work that got into broken skin.

  12. I am now classed as a senior but from 14 years old wore Levi jeans and T shirts, for the last 30 years Custom cars on back and front the T's which l still wear today in LOS, so where does that put me in your thoughts. :)

I had a double take the other day, l saw an old farang guy in Tesco's who's hair was dyed blacker than coal that looked ridiculous, could have been a wig, dressed all in black, shirt open with a big medallion on a huge chain on show :bah:. Perhaps he thinks he looked cool to the ladies but from a farangs point he looked like a circus presenter.

I don't like Thai gold that much.. but got an 18k golden necklace i got from my parents for graduation that i have always worn. But haven't worn it now for a while because its back in Holland for repairs after a friendly fight with my brother last November. Got broken after i forgot to i had him underwater (honestly) and he started to struggle a bit too much and broke my chain by accident.

I would never consider getting one of those big amulets on them. I mean that is a Buddist / Thai thing and i am neither.

Oddly it wasn't a Buddhist thingy, well didn't look like one, more like the thing they wore in the 70's with the stick on hairy chest. :D
