  1. Our turbo broke at 150,000 kms. Had to be replaced for an original Toyota part at the dealer at 60k baht. We tried a second hand solution but that was a waste of money as it didn't work.

Other than that, car has been great for 7 years. Knock on wood.

Good advert for synthetic oil and letting engine idle for a while before shutdown.

I think this is the first TV article I have ever read that, not only does not knock the Thais and their way of life, but actually most admit it is a lot cleaner and more civilized to use a bum gun.

I stopped using toilet paper years ago and it is one aspect of going back to UK that i find primitive.

Hear, hear! Got to give credit where it's due. So nice to see a little Thai praising for a change here on tv.com.

So your another guy with wet gray flannels in the bum region. ....................laugh.png (flannels are trousers)whistling.gif

Actually there's very little water left after spraying and it quickly dries. Never been a problem. Also, the "gray flannels" ... if I wore them ... would stay gray.

    You've been spotted.........................

    2 bar??

We have 6 bar. For a time we had 8 but it got reduced to 6 again.

toilet paper....if you have many hair there...the water is not enough.....

I beg to differ ... and I'm rather hairy down there. For sure paper is just going to smear it. But a skillfully applied, rater high-pressure spraying will indeed do the job. Practice makes perfect. 555

I must say this is one of the best discussions (disgutssions?) I've seen in several years of reading tv.com. It's actually an interesting subject, albeit a bit gross and funny at the same time.

I don't know how many previous posters are still here, but I must ask: Has anyone here who still wipes their butt been convinced to switch to the bum gun? Really ... you can tell us. Don't be shy. 555

Think you ought to go back and read my post.

Bum gun, water on it's own cleans nothing, it just removes stuff, it does not clean. Soap and water cleans. rolleyes.gif Do you wash the dishes or your car with just water ? Eeeeeeeeer, noooooooo rolleyes.gif. Well you might.......laugh.png

Believe me, pal ... I'm sure I'm doing it correctly. I am a very detail-oriented and hygienic kinda guy. When I first converted to the spray I test wiped afterwards to see if there was a tale-tale (or is it, tail-tale) sign of feces on the paper. Sometimes there was, but that served as bio-feed back that enabled me to perfect my spraying skills.

Now, I'm not saying it leaves my anus aseptically sterile ... and I definitely don't do a smell test ... but I've perfectly satisfied with the results ... a thousand-fold more so than with paper.

You haven't read my post on the perfect non smelly bum have you rolleyes.gif , AND, No.2 in the sequence requires good ol' paper. thumbsup.gif...........laugh.png

  5. Back when we bought ours, the Fortuner was the only decent SUV around. The competition was some pick-ups with a rear roof welded to them. I believe that is still true of Ford and Isuzu.

I've only heard good things about the Pajero Sport so I guess I'd take a test drive between the two. Ford should be coming out with a Ranger based SUV at some point - I am surprised they haven't already.

One thing I value about the thing is the fact that Toyota's never really changed it. You get different lights and small improvements here and there if you buy the car now vs. 7 years ago, but it's still pretty much the same car. That's a good thing if you have an old one wink.png

CRV and so on - different category, makes no sense to compare these. I want room to haul stuff so to this day these wouldn't be an option.

I took one rear seat off BTW. They are spectacularly uncomfortable and really the only reason they are there at all is so the Fortuner can get into the people carrier tax bracket at 30% rather than 50% for a passenger car. It needs 7 seat capacity. Each seat is held by one screw so this is rather easy to do.

    One screw.........?

  9. I'm still trying to understand the reason why it is banned from 2 pm till 5 pm each day. crazy.gif

Well in 7/11 anyway, still available at the little shop further down the soi.giggle.gif

When I was a kid in the UK, we had similar hours for selling booze. Usually bought from an ''off license'' attached to the side of a pub. Now every one seems to be selling it, even sweet shops. Times change. facepalm.gif

  11. Will 2" be enough to slide on size bigger under there?

Just pick a tyre website, input your proposed tyre size and the spec sheet will give you the diameter, halve that and you have the increase in height compared to your stock tyres. BUT, you may have a problem with steering lock, tyre hitting the body/inner wings.

  12. Very possible. Do not plan on finding a lady right away. My suggestion is go on the dating sites. I for one used it and it worked for me. However, I came here not expecting it to work and took it slow.

    We just celebrated 3 years.

My suggestion is make friends here with other EXPATS and then I am sure you will be introduced to miss right by their Thai wives

    Oh no you wont..........................w00t.gif
