Its all about the plates and book roll on to the next new vehicle that the dealership attaches them to. Fill up the book and they have an issue. Withholding the book saves them the bother, or the pencil/eraser routine runs a close second. Anecdotally though from my experience its all a bit over hyped only Brownshirt interface I had was one that stepped out from the roadside stop (milking wages from helmetless motorcy folk) to salute me and my shiny new pickup ????

Regyai replied to noodleslayer's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
TBH I learned many, many trips ago that the best modus operandi was always to depart with a sufficient clutch of baht to start the ball rolling next time without any of these concerns. in my flight bag awaiting the next trip -

That's where the best rates are The 'front line' booths on arrivals level are the 'rape & pillage rip offs' The issue is whether you can sashay on down to the basement while being frogmarched to your Test n Go hotel -

Yet how the trumpets blow heralding all yesterday's arrivals -
"Walking the Bankbook" as the Thai expression says - with revolving fabricated income and invented work &/or an amenable loan guy are the two de rigueur routes to use/combine. Even so, expect minor flip flaps and changes of heart as the file gets escalated to ever 'bigger bosses' within the banks interminable hierarchy.

Spoken over the years with several Thais embarking on this perilous endeavour of standing as guarantor They have all exhibited the same mental blinkers to the obvious (to the rest of the world) dangers. Even when mapped out in baby logic they wont face facts: The bank who are time served experts in this field refuse to grant this person credit without a third party indemnifying the debt. Yet you, with no fiscal reserves or prior experience, think its all fine & dandy for you to do so ????

Gold customs duty?
Regyai replied to 2 is 1's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
OP never stated what form the gold was in The assumption is that he is referring to a half kilo in bullion There're are few dealers in 24ct gold in Thailand (from memory only two in Yaowarat) - if the requirement is for an import licence and somehow you succeed in having gotten this into Thailand without one, you may just find yourself between a rock and a hard place with it. -

Autos always driven using only one leg - OP has his reasons I suppose for the pedal swap around (sounds like his right side is disabled) Steering wheel - I read that as the steering column controls/switches all to be on the left

Regyai replied to kham9's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
If Kabul opens fly through there UK will hotel you up as a freebie, lavish you with benefits ad infinitum, and grant you a free house for you and your nearest and dearest ( & saves all that tedious paddling across the channel) ????
