  1. They call every scool a university. And even the ones who really did the top Thai university's can't speak proper english. Some even can't speak english at all even if they have been in the USA to study.

    ?

Hold on there, you made a speling eror, I meen a mystake. I have a Dagree in the Englis langage granted by a prestig, no presgee, no an importand Universaytee here in Bangkok. And "Scool" should be spelled "Skool"! biggrin.png

In a previous post namdocmai stated he can speak 5 languages and reads these forums to improve his/her english language skills. How many languages can you speak? And how good are your Thai language skills presuming you are living here in Thailand. Give the man / woman a break <deleted>.

  2. I don't know that there are more 'red necks' on the forum, but I think we live in more troubling times and people's patience have grown a little thin for the perceived misdeeds of our fellow men. There's been just a few too many:

-- boats full of people headed to Europe and to Australia to show much compassion for genuine refugees.

-- rapes and murders of young people to protest the death penalty.

--a few too many little M.E. and former Soviet aligned countries fighting with one another to care much about the civilian deaths.

--a few too many people caught with drugs to ensure we want fair and transparent legal processes.

No more red necks but a few posters are getting a little jaded.

    My opinion only.

Agreed Scott. But still a great song.

  3. Sometimes timing and happenstance & when you least expect it......case in point today......we went to a movie in CM Airport Plaza Mall.....we had lunch and walked around and my wife had to use the toilet so away we went - seems like she takes forever every time and usually I just find a place to sit and wait while watching the legs and other good parts walk by.....today I also had to get rid of some liquid & headed for the adjoined Mens room - - - - whoa - the gal mopping in there was 22-28ish and very good looking (much different from the usual 60ish wrinkly ones that have that job)......I finished and walked out to wash my hands - she was mopping at the center sinks and so I used a sink to her left - while at the sink she "stumbled/tumbled" right into me....I saw her in the mirror and turned to catch her and it was a soft landing with her being in no hurry to move away - I caught her as a gentleman should but at the time had fleeting other thoughts & again she seemed content to nestle briefly.....most Thai gals would break out and away laughing in an embarrassed manner quickly - then look away from eye contact but she didn't....it was not awkward off balance fall withlout feet underneath it was almost like a dance step so I have to believe it was intentional but of course I could not pursue.....I went out and sat on the bench in the hallway - she came out giving me a really nice lingering smile and kept it & kept looking back at me as she went down the hallway......

I'm not a young sprout any longer and don't look like I used to....so - for me it was a very pleasant interlude/question mark.....I am used to giving and getting a lot of smiles because I also smile....I find the Thai gals very friendly, open, willing, and engaging.......but - I am no longer on the prowl/trolling/obviously hunting (like the OP)....can't say that I ever was - not my nature.....

Had I been on the prowl and looked it chances are this - whatever the heck this was - would have never happened.....

I'm still not sure what exactly happened & couldn't follow it up - but I'm glad it happened......and yes based on what I observed and felt 100% female.....

It's all timing and opportunity....I didn't have the time and it wasn't opportune but it was fun/interesting/thought provoking.....

I think many opportunities are out there if you don't look like you're stalking and hoping for prey.....

The movie was good too "Lucy" - weird ending though.....

Hmmmmmm, hate to disappoint you but I think many of us older extremely hansum guys have this stuff happen now and again. For instance, last night this hansum old guy was kissed by 2 ladies. Yes I had sung a few numbers but I seem to be an old irresistible guy...... giggle.gif ............laugh.png

"Yes I had sung a few numbers" ---- sung or smoked?

  4. It will make no difference at all to the alcohol related death and injury statistics. Where I live most of the local pissheads are in bed asleep before the proposed midnight curfew. They have a shot of Lao Khao at breakfast time to clear the head. Absolutely slaughtered by midnight. This will mostly effect the larger towns and cities especially those relying on tourism for their income.

Cannot see it happening. Alcohol industry is huge in Thailand and will still be here after the next lot of coup makers/politicians are long gone. Alcohol has been around since day one in the scale of human existence. Politicians not so.

  5. For us folks flying south Thai is a good choice. Happy to fly with them. It's the only airline with direct flights to Brisbane. Heading there next month for a couple of weeks. For that flight Thai is cheaper even than Air Asia who have a 3 hr stop over in KL and also charge extras for everything. Guess you folks flying towards Europe have a greater choice of airlines and thus lower cost fares. Hope they survive this latest crisis. Been flying with them for 30 years without a problem.

  6.

You people are a sorrowful bunch.   Last night you stayed up hoping she wouldn't return so you can make your ugly comments.  Now she comes back and you start your insults.   Very disgusting group of people here.

I'm with you on that Bob. I've listened to so much nastiness from so many people here, disparaging her character left right and centre. When she shows them to be significantly wrong about something, they just start off on another angle. It's disgusting in the extreme, and I'm embarrassed to be a farang in Thailand when I know some Thais will lump me in with these petty, mean-minded creeps.

    TL

The Shin supporters / apologists have suddenly resorted to attacking anyone who dares comment against their beloved Shins and trying to suggest that doing so makes you a low life - and then add a barrage o rude insults.

What's disgusting is a PM can act illegally, lie, shirk responsibility, avoid doing the job she swore to do, cry to gain sympathy then be caught laughing when she thought the cameras off, and not bother to stop or investigate assaults and murders of those who oppose her family.

You resort to nasty insults as you simply have no arguments for the truth. It's embarrassing that some Thais might think all farangs are Shin arse lickers.

"Pot calling the kettle black" comes to mind

  7. For the Swiss it is free. No visa required. I think maybe the top government officials have a special arrangement with the Swiss banks. A Swiss friend of mine living near the border crosses regularly just for the duty free shopping.

They do need a visa, just do not have to pay. When I went into Laos last year the guy in the queue beside me was Swiss, had to pay 100 baht for something, possibly photocopy. Nice guy, paid mine at the same time and said his visa was free.

It is $35 USD for UK passports.

I think you will find they are visa exempt and get stamped in for 15 days. Similar to the ASEAN member states. My friend says he only pays 40 baht. Travels there quite often and does not loose a whole page of his passport each time (small status country, big visa syndrome), unlike me.

  8. If this is true it sounds like something that a Tha ipolitician would suggest - the Line of Least Resistance.

So your all for doing things the most difficult way then ?

Never thought I would be supporting a loony ozzy but she does seem to be talking sense.

If there are already Thais who are pregnant as surrogate mothers then find out who they are, let the process continue and the babies go with the adoptive parents.

But don't let it happen again.

Consider if there are Thai girls who have been paid to carry surrogate babies or just promised (more) payment when the baby arrives, they find that suddenly there is no one to either pay them or take the babies when they are born, they don't want them nor can they afford to keep them, then what will happen to the child ?

What she is saying is; lets fix the existing problem in the best way possible for all concerned then make sure it doesn't happen again.

and what happens if a deadline or cutoff date is set, a rush to beat it ?

Set the cut-off date 9 months from now.

  9. Looks like I have messed up a little as I have just booked a ticket to Nakhon Phanom....I'll have to contact AirAsia and see how I can pay extra for the van...thanks guys for reply

Edit: Just phoned AirAsia...cannot change ticket to include fly/ride service or cannot even pay extra for service. Basically if I want this I have to rebook new tickets and lose the money on the old ones. Also, cannot even pay at airport for this service with AA. Looks like it will have to be a separate taxi. Will know for future reference!

The Ploy hotel in Mukdahan used to offer a mini van service from Nakhon Phanom. Not sure if they still do due to the fly/ride service now offered by the airlines. Best to give them a ring and ask. The number I have is 042630562.

  10. OP I know exactly the feeling.

Every time I'm going to a party I'm the only one sporting a beard. facepalm.gif

Same here.  Missus has been pestering me to shave it off for 25 years already.  I see they are coming back into fashion so I won't bother now.

By the way, been the only falang at Thai parties on and off for 25 years and the same at Vietnamese parties for the 10 years prior to that.  Doesn't worry me at all.

  11. I know an American Indian who told me his father gave him his name while scanning the horizon for ideas .. his name is - 2 dogs <deleted>cheesy.gif

This joke is expanded upon rather well by the author Sir Terry Pratchett, see http://wiki.lspace.org/mediawiki/index.php/One-Man-Bucket .. "I would have given my right arm to be called Two-Dogs-*Fighting*!" smile.png

One of my favourite authors. 2/3 of the way through the Discworld series. Only about 15 books to go. A very funny man. Sadly he is suffering from Alzheimer's now.

  12. The General is open to personal requests. The OP should send him an email stating he is not happy that he has to finish partying and go home at 2am rather than his regular sunrise hour. I'm sure he'll change the laws of the land and inform all the police etc. to accommodate your good self being able to stay out a couple of extra hours getting pissed and dancing. Good luck with that. You do realise a military coup has recently taken place in Thailand ?
