  1. You can get a single entry non-o in Vientiane or Savannakhet. Savannakhet also does multiple entry visas.

You will just need your marriage certificate (plus a copy),signed and dated copies of you wife's house book and ID card. You will need no financial proof.

Your wife will not need to go with you.

Most of what you wrote about is for getting an extension of stay at immigration not visas.

Fly to Ubon Ratchathani or Nakhon Phanom. We use Ubon and reserve a ride with Ploy Palace Hotel in Mukdahan @ 350 baht. There are also other vans for hire at the airport. If you fly Nok Air to Mukdahan via Nakhon Phanom, the ticket includes a Ploy Palace Hotel van in the price.

The Mukdahan bus station has regular runs to Savannakhet, so some might prefer a van from Ubon bus station to Muk.

Air Asia flights to Nakhon Phanom also have a fly/ride service to Mukdahan now. Ask the driver to drop you off near the bridge. Arrives at Muk around 6pm in the evening.

  2. So I see another bias article aimed at yingluck to smear her and her family!

Oh yes the yellows once again will go into overdrive with these headlines.

For a more balanced article please refer to the BP as it gives full disclosure of her and husbands assets during her time as the democratically elected prime minister.

On a side note also please refer to the article in the BP on what the media is trying to establish on what they can report on and what they can't.

Shouldn't worry the nation as it's just a stooge yellow paper with feel good headlines trying to persuade the world that everything is all good.

Pity that the world sees right through these empty articles as nothing but propaganda!

Oh and I see the good general has told sutep to shut up about how he and the general colluded since 2010 to bring this about!

Not my words just check out the BP.

If you are going to take a stand on something Parrot---- for Christ sake post a link, don't make lots of statements then end it...."Go Check it out"

I am not knocking the statements or the stand your taking..... just your laziness in presenting them.

    Please refer to post #46

  3. If you don't mind a couple of questions farangy

How much was the VIP bus from Bangkok to Mukdahan and how much hassle is it getting from the bus stop in Mukdahan to the border and then to the consulate?

Would you recommend staying in the casino and is it close to the embassy?

Who did you fly with coming home? I'm not mad on getting the bus both ways as it means 3 nights away from family

Nok Air and now Air Asia have a fly/ride service from BKK to Mukdahan that you can book online. Fly to Nakhon Phanom where mini bus is waiting to drive you to Mukdahan. As you are arriving from the north, the driver will drop you at the bridge where you can buy a bus ticket across to Savannakhet. Much quicker than the Ubon route. If staying at the casino they offer a free mini bus service.

  4. That's what civilised people do.....clean up after their mess.

Any chance of the reds taking any notice?

I think, generally speaking, that civilised people first and foremost do not go to other people's homes to make a mess at all. What you're extolling seems a little less than civilised - they come into my home, chase me out or restrict my movements, then justify it by saying they've cleaned it up. I'm not sure "civilised" is the word we're groping for in this second case.

Or are you saying they were invited into the park?

Well, the Reds certainly were not invited onto Utthayan Road. The only thing out here is the religious park and residences, which the UDDers are blasting their speeches into via loudspeakers. I can even hear them a little bit on the other side of my house, and I'm over 1 km away from the nearest loudspeaker--about 3 km away from the main stage. So, why have the Reds invaded a residential district where they most definitely are not wanted? This is not at all a Red area. Taweewattana and Salaya are about as far from Red as you can get. I'd say by your very definition that makes the Reds decisively uncivilized.

All I can say is you are a NIMBY sir. So it's ok by you that the clean, educated PDRC protesters have inconvenienced other parts of BKK for the past 6 months with their endless loud music, speeches, road closures etc. Would you be happy if it was them legally protesting in your back yard rather than the unwashed, uneducated rabble from the north.

  5. Easy as it is to get stuck in the rut of polarised thinking, whether local or farang, it is sobering to see how 'The World' views recent goings on:

    Wall Street Journal: http://online.wsj.co...0MDAwODEwNDgyWj

    The Economist: http://www.economist...des-it-may-well

You are right. Most western media (voice of the people) do not support the protesters. I'm surprised your post did not get more "likes" but as you say "Easy as it is to get stuck in the rut of polarised thinking ....."

  6. ah yes Bluesky - because they are not biased

    Sad day for Thailand.

... and neither are the other sources of information, of course...

If the PDRC have it their way Bluesky will be the only source of news evidenced by todays protests at various other TV stations who in their opinion do not support their side of politics. Yes, very democratic that is.

  7. Pathetic!

The world is laughing at the elites and the low, low levels they have had to stoop to because their extreme unpopularity prohibits them from legitimately coming to power via elections.

It's business of the Thais, the world please stay out

Can you please show us a link to any western country where she even got a mention

Have tried all the Australia newspapers and they not give her dissmissal 1 line

Im my world western countries believe in the rule of LAW

    Try this one

    http://www.smh.com.au/world/yingluck-shinawatra-to-step-down-as-thai-prime-minister-after-guilty-verdict-20140507-zr6h3.html

    or this one

    http://edition.cnn.com/2014/05/07/world/asia/thailand-yingluck-abuse-power-verdict/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

took about 30 seconds of searching. Sometimes we only see what we want to see to support our own bias.

  8. So PTP is calling on people to come out ??

Good to see they are setting great example for anyone who does not win in court or found guilty.

Just for that alone , capo and DSI should charge all PTP members as they are calling for a riot.

Just because they inserted word "peaceful" it does not change the calling or the agenda

Er, just a reminder, it's not the PTP supporters who have been clogging up the streets of Bangkok for the last six months with their "peaceful" protest. What's good for the goose is good for the gander .......

  9. Usual crowd getting all excited about tomorrows CC judgement. They've been rattling away on here ad nauseam for the last 6 months and absolutely nothing has gone their way so far. I can hear the frustration coming across in the posts. Hope nobody does anything silly tomorrow if the decision goes in favour of YL. Don't want to read anymore stories here about people jumping of balconies etc.

  10. I would die at 30 degrees. I keep mine at 18 and it would be lower if the aircons could do it.

I suppose the draft created by opening the windows would make things feel cooler than a thermometre would indicate.

You're kidding right? 18 degrees. You must sit around home all day with a jumper and socks on. Don't even turn the fan on until it gets up into the high 20's. Guess we are all acclimatised to different ambient temperatures and each to his own.

  11. You can argue the if's and but's all night but the simple fact of the matter is it was the PDRC that rejected AV's proposal outright and not the PTP. Actually, so far there has only been one side in this conflict that has been unwilling to compromise. The government stood down and agreed to fresh elections. That would be a major concession in any other country in the world especially the home countries of the posters here. Ask yourself, who compromised the last elections resulting in this ongoing conflict?

  12. Pheu Thai willing to listen to Abhisit’s proposal

    PNPOL570504001000201_04052014_124042.jpg

BANGKOK, 4 May 2014 (NNT) – The ruling Pheu Thai Party says it is willing to hear from Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva about his political roadmap, which is aimed at ending the ongoing political conflict.

In response to Mr. Abhisit’s nine-point political roadmap, Pheu Thai Deputy Spokesperson Anusorn Aimsaard said the Pheu Thai Party would be willing to study Mr. Abhisit’s proposal as long as it did not breach the Constitution, adding that the party would be supportive if Mr. Abhisit’s roadmap was really meant to solve the ongoing political unrest in the country.

However, he said that the Pheu Thai Party would announce whether or not it would take Mr. Abhisit’s advice after a thorough study.

The roadmap proposed by the Opposition party leader suggests that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra resign and that the election be postponed in order to avoid the possibility of future violence and a military coup d’etat. The proposal also calls for a neutral interim government, which will be in charge of a political reform.

According to Mr. Abhisit’s political roadmap, the reform process should take about 18 months while the election should be organized within 150-180 days upon the completion of the reform.

I'm getting confused (yes, I know before you say it, it's not hard to do) . . . but up until this article/statement, haven't ALL PT MP's and the party itself dismissed Abhisit's proposal out of hand? There's been a raft of PT MP's making statements dismissing his proposal. What's changed for them now to consider it? Are they even (PT I am referring to) talking to each other or have some form of cohesive "mission" and or being on the same page for once?

No. That was the PDRC that "dismissed Abhisit's proposal out of hand"

  13. The Dems have already announced they will not run if Abhisit's Proposal is not accepted...I laud this guy for coming out and having the guts to speak for elections but I fear he didn't get the memo from Chavanon..

" He noted that an election will provide the solution to the ongoing political crisis, provided the polling can be held in its entirety.

He also suggested the Democrat Party enter the July 20 race, because politicians are obliged to partake in elections.

Asked whether he will meet Mr. Abhisit for talks, ACM Prajin said this would not be necessary, as the armed forces commanders would confer with the supreme commander, who already spoke to Mr. Abhisit, regarding this matter.

According to him, the Air Force will be ready to lend a hand in ensuring that the general election is conducted in its entirety.":

    Good onya bud!

I do feel sorry for you dirty, the way you are clinging to this crazy belief that Thailand actually holds "free and fair democratic elections" as your crowd loves to say, over and over and over and .....................................................................

If only they were free and fair, and politicians from parties opposing the PTP were not threatened and intimidated by a gang of red shirted thugs and gutless hitmen. Where grenades were not launched at peoples' homes and businesses, left on front gates etc.

    Keep dreaming dirty. thumbsup.gif

I thought it was the opposition who threatened and intimidated the voters at the last election and not the other way around?

  14. It's hardly surprising - as these discussions are still taking place between Abhisit and party leaders - that any final communique would be released between them before the fact, but when it is it will clearly be not only instantly mocked by Pheu Thai supporters but in fact will be an actual turning point as well, as this news story suggests - because the Democratic party this afternoon has now gone on record by announcing that unless some form of agreement is reached, they will boycott the election. The argument is exactly the same as it was on December 21 when the party boycotted the previous election. The argument is - nothing has changed. The reforms that needed to be addressed have not been addressed. Pheu Thai is operating as if nothing has changed since November 1 when they passed the amnesty bill at 4 in the morning and started a firestorm in the country. With the Yingluck administration as obstinate as ever - with Surapong and Chalerm as intimidating as ever, with the independent agencies and courts under intimidation, and with Thaksin's skype connection as alive and well as it ever was - absolutely nothing has changed. Why would the Democrats want to enable a quorum for an administration run like this - an administration being directed by a prime minister's brother - why would they possibly want to do that - why would they possibly want to enable an administration that is beset by scandal and criminal investigations ? Pheu Thai supporters will doubtless be delighted with the Democratic party and Abhisit's withdrawal - just as Pheu Thai undoubtedly was in December when they were already dreaming of sweeping every constituency in the country. Well, a funny thing happened on the way to the forum.

The way to effect change is for the democrats to run. Success is never guaranteed. But you have to try earning an electoral mandate. If you don't run, you cannot participate. You cannot complain.

Scamper is the number 1 spin doctor on TVF batting for the opposition. Just about everything he accuses the PTP of eventually gets disproven. One glaring example is always accusing them of being unwilling to negotiate with the undemocratic party when actually its the other way around. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

  15. Is this guy what you Oz Brothers call a "bogan?" It's a funny word, and non-Oz like me don't know what it means, except maybe drunken idiot(?) Do you pronounce it BO-gan or bo-GAN?

You people are my favorite Non-Americans. When the shit(e) comes down, I'd want a few of you in my crew. No drinking til the fight's over, though.

"Do you pronounce it BO-gan or bo-GAN?" It's the first one. Click on link below

  16. Have had a tokay hanging out in our kitchen, bathroom and ceiling for many years now. Consider him/her same as a pet. The tokey's crap consists mostly of recycled bugs. We get along just fine even though he keeps say <deleted> you, but I'm sure he is saying that to his girlfriend and not me. She is a regular visitor also. Swears at him as well.
