  1. I am still going with my recommendation for ARC.

Thanks for your explanation N4, very informative, from my research and time spent looking at all the companies and products on offer I went with ARC as I got the vibe they could provide the best solution for me.

On the installation they sent 5 guys to my house for over 4 days and did an excellent job. Up Country.

I have seen some of the poor quality stuff on offer in Thailand, with no better locks than the cheap aluminium windows most people have. For my house I wanted to improve the security as well so have all my windows fitted with multipoint locks. I did not want to go down he Horrible bars over the windows method, but provide better locks than the aluminuium windows gave.

  2. I got to Udon regullary when I am back in Thailand to stock up my supples from Tesco.

I used to stay in some of the more expensive hotels Centra etc, but I have now found its fare better staying at Top Manison, clean comfortable cheap rooms, car parking and easy access to top up on some Farrang food.

    Still close to everything.

Great for stocking up your Freezer also if you go to Nobbis. Great T Bone steaks

  3. Yeah the Carrefour opened a couple of months ago.. I was expecting the Pattaya style shopping experiene, but come out there disapointed.

Not a great choice and a pretty small shop with staff they have got from down town who dont know much about there goods.

A few different Farrang choices, but overall limited and I think more expensive than Tesco Lotus..

By the way they are building a new Lotus about 500m down the road from the new Carrefour.

  4. Fair point on your observations about my electric fence instalment.

The rope braided conducter is plenty enough to give you a well decent shock. Having experienced this when I had a bad earth.

I purchased a high grade energizer that puts out plenty of power, and i see no reason why this will not work, if it will detter a horse then its going to work on a human.

In my opinion the system I have is what is required, it now costs nothing to maintain and operate. All very nice having a system that allerts you to tampering etc, but the cost for such a system would be significantly higher.

My house is protected by a good quality alarm system shoud they get over the fence and 2 dogs.

  5. Yeah, honest I have no need to make up that kind of thing. I was quite open to find out what they had to offer. When they could not explain there policys to me the local sales Lady from the village got her supervisor to come, and again cleary did not know there product.

Then she came out with this statement after I had decided to leave the conversation.

  6. If you want the best you have to use ARC, yes they are more expensive but you get the best quality UPVC and all around locking.

You get what you pay for! Don't be fooled in to thinking you get a good deal from a cheaper suplier.

I did loads of research on this before I made the push to have ARC do my windows.

  7. Personally I would totally steer away from these AIA agents, when it get down to it they usually dont have a clue about the product they are selling, and all the Thais just see these stupid figures, after the second year you get this back... total brainwash policys.

I am with Siam bank and they offer policys etc, so going to investigate them further.

I have a very cheap accident policy from Siam bank at the moment, just to cover for emergencies.

I have banned all insurance people from entering my home... especially when one turned up and had the check to say your BF not love you as he will not buy a policy for you..... "JOG ON"

  8. I just put all this on another thread...

I have installed a Yale wireless alarm system I purhcased in UK, You can add up to 20 devices to this the choice covers

    PIR sensor

    PIR pet friendly

    Remote keypad

    Smoke detectore

    Window/Door contacts

    Wireless remote control

    And Sirens

This is a great system and easy for anyone to set up, it has a home mode also so you can set which sensors you want left on at night also it will bleep when one of the doors is opened such as the front door.

I have also purhcased a cattle grade electric fence, braded rope, insulated screws, solar panel and battery.

The electric fence runs itself, just let the solar panel charge up the battery and turn it on and off at night. I have added a mains connection if the battery was to fail... the fence is set behind 3 strands of barb wire ontop off the wall. This was a fraction of the cost that was payed above and pretty easy to set up.

I have put some posting on here about this, but as usual with TV you get the whinging old T***s that like to complain about everything, its my house and I want my own security.. and it dont look obscene.

Its all a good deterant... some nice high voltage signs from Global on the wall also add to the effect.

  10. Done this drive quiet a few time.

Avoid the mountain route, what a nightmare with all the trucks and buses.

Keep to the motorway... from memory.

Route 2 to Korat. then head towards Saraburi, keep going towards Bangkok then take the route 9 that goes around bangkok then you are on the road to pattaya...

Sorry cant be more precise but not in Thailand at the mo and dont have access to a map.. you should be able to look and work it out ..

    Hope all goes well.

  11. Hi,

I would stay at the Top Mansion just up from the Irish Clock, I have stayed in most of the expensive hotels in Udon and they dont really measure up. I went to the Top Manison by chance its only 350bht a night and has a parking area just up the road.

As suggested there is some great food a Nobis opposite (closed on Sundays) and also good farrang food at the Irish clock.

There is a new bar develpment just between the Irish clock and Top Mansion so you are right in the place for a few beers, Just follow the road around the block and you are at the shopping mall, all the normal farrang stuff.

If you want to head out a bit to eat go to "Good Everything" its a short taxi ride near the Hospiral and one of the parks.. sorry cant be more precise.

    Enjoy.
