  1. The more you do the more of a deterrent there is. Some nice signs from Global Home in Thai also do the trick warning high voltage. makes them think twice.

If you don't want an electric fence don't put one up or just keep on making crap comments about it, then if you get burgled just come on here and keep complaining about it.

  2. Tried many and by far the best IMHO is the Sportsman on soi 13, go there all the time when I am back in Pattaya.

Others I like are, Elephant bar or if you want a late breakfast bangers and mash at Palmers soi pattaya land 2.

  3. Im not in Thailand at the mo so can not tell you the exact sequence but there are 2 things to do.

1, the quick fix is to press one of the buttons on the remote that allows you to change the language to english.. this will only be available when the game is live.

2, Set your menu on the box to the english language then change the default language to English. So if English is availible it will always select it.

  4. I have done my Thai car and motor bike license. I have a uk Car license so got that straight converted, all i had to do was do a reaction test on a brake pedal when some lights come on you press the pedal. and then judge a distance stick about 5 meters from you.

You also have to do a multi choice highway code test.

Then i hired a motor bike from a shop over the road from the test center in Pattaya.

You pull up in front of the invigilator and then drive around a simple circuit. They set you off about 20 meter interval so there is no way they can watch everyone. You have to pull away, stop, go around some cones, drive on a raised concrete strip about 20 m long a few more stops and turns and thats it.

I even come off the concrete strip and the tester never seen it so I passed.

Complete Thai style, but it keeps the police off your back every time you get stopped...

I do think it is the hardest test to do as no Thai has ever passed it... haahahah

You only get your first license for a year then have to get it changed to a 5 year one.

  5. Jingthing.

If you read though the contents you will see it has drifted in and out of buffet and good food places.

So I was just trying to add my little bit of friendly advice while on the subject.

Mantra at The Amari Hotel on Sunday.

And thanks for the comments, thats what realy gets me going on TV people with not much better to do all day than snipe at people who make comments. I have not been on here much until lately for that very reason.

Is that how you get over 8,000 post sniping all day long.

  6. If you want to go all the way, go to the Amari Mantra on a sunday between 11 and 3 its tip top, I love it go there everytime i am in Pattaya.

Love the Sportsman its on Soi 13 (someone had put soi 6 earlier)

The Elephant bar is nice also, nice quiet location, friendly owner.

I also like Pan Pan, but make sure you go to the one on the way to Jomtien.. great italian..

    Enjoy

  7. some good gags on this thread..

But hey Scott things must be bad when you have to keep them in the fridge for a longer life...

Once they are som tam infected they need to go.... any mud fish within a mile...

Perhaps there is some aincent art like origami for thai.. the mastering of elastic bands........ lackygarmi maybe

  8. Sorry I could not confirm the prices, I am happy with what i have got I am not in thailand all the time and i know i can get a good nights sleep with the ones i have (panasonic).

Its all about cost, and there is no way i am spening much in Thailand this year with the baht to Pound rate.

I dont have full internet access here, but I will deffo look into the models when i get back to LOS.

Take it easy and enjoy the nice cool of the air con. Got to put some decent insulation in my loft now to help it out. been thinking of the proper stuff the company does blown or the foam on the tiles but i will probally end up with the rolls from Home Mart.

  9. Hi Gungadin,

I payed about 62,000 for all the units installed.

The big 24,000 btu unit is in my bedroom that is 7m x 7m and on the front of the house that is facing south and gets all the heat, the unit copes with the heat no problem.

I made sure i got them to fit 4mm supply cable to the unit and got it earthed correctly, you know how they can be with there electrics.

They also gave me a gurantee and will come back for the next 5 years to top it up etc.

I am at work at the mo out the country so do not have the phone number, but i can get it for you. The guys how installed it where from Nong Bang lamphu.

    Hope this helps.

  10. You will never find anything in Thailand that will compare with the real thing back home in Blighty..

And please keep the Tartar sauce away... it dont belong on fish and chips.

Salt & Vinegar and some red sauce..

Accompanied by some proper english bread with plenty of butter on.. "chip butty"
