Yes, should be straightforward, as long as he is named as father on the birth certifiacate then he can apply for the babies british passport at the embassy in bangkok & the thai can be done at the same time in bangkok passport office too.

The father can fill in the forms from the embassy in bangkok but he must have his full english birth certifiacate, not the short one and its about 14000 baht fee

when the child is born the hospital gives the mum a letter to take to register the birth at her amphur its no problem having his name on the birth certifiacate but make sure they spell it right in Thai and in her blue family book

My son is four months old and had his first shot BCG the day after birth

is listed the shots that he has had and will have up to the age of 5

so far he has had , the BCG, once , Hepatitis B vaccine (HBV) twice ,Oral Polio vaccine (OPV) once ,and Diptheria Pertussis Tetanus (DPT) once .

Later on he will have Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR), Japanese Encephalitis vaccine (JE), and Diptheria Tetenus vaccine (DT.

That is in his Immunization & Health Record book givin to us by Thammasat Hospital ,

there is no mention of the Pneumococcus Conjugate Vaccine. at all and my brother in law is a Thai doctor and has said that it is not a requirement , but a option.

just get the form affirmation to marry fill it in and hand it back to your Embassy ,wait 24 hours go back and pick it up the get it translated and get that stamped at the Thai foreign office then go to your local Amphur office with your passport her ID card and blue book ,pay the small fee and thats it they give you two marriage certificates if she takes your surname then she has a time limit to change her ID card , its too easy to get married here

PS just check that when you have the translation done they spell your name right.

I was divorced in '97 and can't even remember which month and all the forms seem to need 'proof of divorce' (or 'proof of ability to get married' or some similar <deleted>).

Any way around this - like saying "no...I have never been married before"??

I am just wondering if the check the UK Embassy will do will actually prove that I was divorced 11 years ago??

I had to get mine sent from the uk as long as you know the year and what court dealt with your divorce . i paid 10 pound including search fee and they posted it to me here in Thailand its cheaper if you can give the day and month, that was the price 3 years ago.

it is the NHS that have options available

trying to jump through the hoops and penetrate the shield of bureaucracy , targets and political correctness that the nhs have erected would be more than enough to push anybody feeling mildly suicidal straight over the edge and into the chasm.

Whilst I'd agree with you on some of the points, sadly it has been the governments cutbacks and legislation on funding along with the inepetude of "mismangement" that have prevented the easy and open access that is required. I can only speak from the area that I worked in (5 years ago), but it was given "Gold Standard" for the out of hours service that was provided. Sadly, from my understanding the extended service that was provided has now been cut.

Its now called care in the community in other words get your tranks from the doctor and extra cash from DSS and live in a council flat until you cant take it anymore and go on a breakdown then get sectionend rule 28 for a month or until they find you another council flat

(or send you on a TEFL course and pack you off to Thailand )

I think the only problem you might have is your passport the thai visa is one whole page, and one for stamps . but every time you pop over to another country you could lose a page for thier visa , but if you stayed in thailand and only popped over to cambodia every 90 days you will only lose 1 page per vist

i have not met any fake cops or customs inspectors

but i have met real customs inspectors it seems that they target inbound flights from the Arab states as posted before last time they were waiting at the end of the escalators on the way to baggage claim , when you collect your luggage and walk out arrivals into the crowds of touts their is a small office that they use (inside the building) some will follow you outside and if you stop to light up thats when they come over and ask you what you have.
