Doesn't make sense. An iphone 16pro 6gb/128 retails in Thailand for 37,000 Bt. And in Australia sells for $1,849, which is approx 43,000 Bt. So he's smuggling iphones into Thailand to sell at a loss of 6000 bt per phone?
I think iPhone 16 is not available until 20th September

3 hours ago, webfact said:A British yoga teacher was stranded at Suvarnabhumi Airport after being barred from boarding her flight home due to a slight tear in her passport.
The British woman, 27 year old Rosie Viscomi, had planned to fly back to London from Bangkok last Thursday, July 4. However, she was prevented from boarding her £370 (approximately 17,000 baht) multi-stop flight, which included stops in India and Turkey, after airline officials objected to a 1-centimetre rip on the photo page of her passport. This unfortunate turn of events left Rosie crying at Suvarnabhumi Airport as IndiGo Airlines staff refused her passage.
The dance and yoga teacher from Norfolk had been on the Thai island of Koh Pha Ngan since April, after completing her yoga qualification in India.
During her stay, she engaged in voluntary work and deepened her yoga knowledge before deciding to return home. Despite having reportedly extended her visa just days prior, Viscomi was informed at the airport that her visa had expired, rendering her stay illegal.
Frantic and fearing arrest, the British traveller spent the last few days liaising with Thai immigration and the British Embassy to arrange her safe return, which has already cost her hundreds of pounds.
“When I went for my flight on Thursday, they said ‘You’re not going anywhere with that,’ referring to a small rip in my passport.“They told me India won’t let me in and I need to book a direct flight from Bangkok to London. I missed my £370 flight and had to apply for emergency documents. I don’t have any money left.”
Viscomi, who had previously travelled to America and Jamaica without issues, was shocked by the sudden enforcement.
“I didn’t know if they were going to arrest me because I didn’t have the correct stamp. I was at immigration just crying, and everyone kept saying there was nothing they could do. I thought I had all the right visa documents. I just want to go home.”
The yoga teacher’s family has stepped in to help with the financial burden. Viscomi’s sister has set up a fundraising page, which has raised £280 of the £1,000 target so far.
Meanwhile, Viscomi has managed to secure a new flight and emergency travel documents, hoping to return to England on July 9. IndiGo Airlines has been contacted for comment, reported The Mirror UK.

by Bright ChoomaneePicture courtesy of KhaoSod
Police apprehended a 51 year old Swiss hairstylist in Koh Pha Ngan for operating a barbershop without proper authorisation, challenging the local police’s ability to detain him. He was arrested at Oliver Twist Hair in Ban Tai, Koh Pha Ngan, on charges of working illegally in Thailand.
The arrest took place after Police Lieutenant General Saksira Pueak-am, Commander of the Tourist Police, ordered Police Lieutenant Colonel Winit Boonchit and a team of Koh Pha Ngan Tourist Police, in collaboration with local administrative officials, to investigate the matter. The police had received reports of a foreign national unlawfully working as a barber, a profession reserved for Thai citizens.
Further investigation on social media, specifically on www.facebook.com, revealed a fan page for Oliver Twist Hair, advertising hair-cutting and styling services by Oliver Ehrat. Customers could book appointments through the WhatsApp application.
During questioning, Oliver admitted that while he held a permit to work as a Managing Director of Oliver Twist Art Co., Ltd., he had been working as a hairstylist at Oliver Twist Hair, which had been operating for nine years. The charges for haircuts ranged from 500 baht (US$14) to approximately 4,000 baht (US$110), depending on the style, reported KhaoSod.
The police informed Oliver of the charges.“You are charged with being a foreign national working outside the scope of your permitted occupation (hairstylist).”
Following this, he was taken to Koh Pha Ngan Police Station for legal proceedings.
In related news, Royal Thai Immigration officers, along with relevant agencies, conducted a search operation at a factory in Krathum Baen, Samut Sakhon, following a report from the Damrongdhama Centre about a significant number of illegal immigrant labourers.
The operation led to the discovery of over 72 illegal immigrants working at the site.
Among the discovered workers, 45 had no legal documentation or work permits, while 27 Burmese workers had some documentation but lacked work permits.
The immigrants admitted to working illegally at the factory and disclosed that they were paid 363 baht (US$10) daily in cash. They revealed that they had been employed there for one month.

I don’t hold any sympathy for her. She knew how high the risks were and decided to take them. She is very lucky to still be alive lucky on many counts she was lucky that the death sentence was reduced to a prison sentence.
She was lucky that she was able to serve some of her time in an Australian prison.
She was lucky she didn’t commit this crime in the Philippines as she almost certainly wouldn’t have survived.I hope all this good luck wasn’t wasted, Hopefully now you can spend some of your time advising others not to go down the same road you went down

I think, if you visit a restaurant and the food and service is of poor quality then you should have every right to leave honest reviews without fear of prosecution.
However, if you leave poor reviews about a restaurant simply because you’re upset that they’ve revoked your right to use their right of way then I’m sorry you deserve everything that’s coming your way.You should’ve just sucked it up

If you have 36 qualifying years you are entitled to your pension, you’ve earned it.
so for them to then freeze it just because you choose to live elsewhere is nothing short of criminal.
Time for change but don’t hold your breath!-

Did this boat not have those self inflating life rafts?
I guess not as surely they would have begun evacuating the boat minus 1 or 2 crew members.
Did they even carry enough life vests for everyone?Oh dear, making money seems to be the number one priority again.

You have a good point, however, I still stand by my argument and even in the “ultra regulated markets” as you put it, council regulated taxis are still fiendishly expensive and this creates a space, a space for competition, and competition drives innovation and in come the entrepreneurs with their modern fancy new apps. And I must add that a lot of Thai women don’t feel safe with the Thai cabs but feel safer in a Grab.
But the real point I’m making is that Thai Meter Taxis are also well regulated but choose to defy those regulations.
Personally when I’m in Downtown Bangkok I prefer to take my life in my hand and use the motorcycle taxis. -
The so called “meter taxis 🚖 “ who often don’t want to use meter are angry at the “Grab, Bolt, Etc era they find themselves in. Not surprisingly, however these new types of app based taxi wouldn’t exist had it not been for the greed of some (a lot) of the meter taxi drivers.
The Taxi industry is like all others in that, if you are too expensive the competition door will open.
It’s hard to find a solution when corruption exists at all levels and introducing a scheme which rewards drivers by giving them gold star badges just opens up another potential layer of bribery and corruption. I have visited Thailand every year for the past 15 years and finding the taxi who’s driver instantly says yes when asked to use the meter is year on year becoming increasingly difficult.

Hmm rather a lot of cash.
Looked like he was in a hurry to get rid of the fake notes as he already had 200k in genuine TB.
Must be quite good fakes to have fooled the operator at first.

He looks awesome and I bet his love is immeasurable.
A dog of this size and strength can cause life changing disfiguring injuries to a child’s face ( hands, legs etc) in a split second, particularly if they were suddenly startled by perhaps a child slipping and landing on him while he slept. We’ve all read and continue to read stories about how trusted dogs attacked seemingly out of character.
I sincerely hope this never happens with your lovely dog, but consider this, if it were to happen and your dog attacked someone they, (assuming they were not killed) you and others would have to live with the consequences for the rest of your lives constantly being reminded.
This isn’t aimed at you in particular it is aimed at all the dog owners who think it will never happen to them with such certainty that they take their eye off the ball.

You say "Got lumbered with" Was it an arranged marriage?
I also have a failed marriage to a western woman, but our marriage was a mutual arrangement and now things are different.
Successful relationships Thai, English, African and any other need effort from both sides to succeed, hope your marriage to Thai wife works out well.
If it doesn't, I hope you don't feel like you were lumbered again.Good luck

I fail to see the need of two pics of the same guy.
We don't need more police. We need more police enforcing rules such as traffic.
Well, one photo shows his friendly face and the other a more serious business like face, what great credentials he has, he will make Chief of Police one day

They were identified in the report as attacker and ladyboy so readers could better imagine a scene, not so we could either pull her apart because of her sexuality or because of what she chooses to buy with her hard earned cash. I hope they find her attacker and string him up. Without the courage she showed, this might easily have been yet another murder enquiry.

Why do you have to be so disrespectful? It matters not a jot what title this person goes with, he, she, him, her. This post is about what this person did not gender. She ?
I wonder if you labelling a ladyboy as not worthy or entitled to use feminine words to describe herself, is in fact an attempt to throw others off the scent so they don't discover your secret interest in ladyboys??

The season is not over yet, I and all the members of the Toon Army live in hope. We are well practiced at it, having been doing it for many many years now.Aha, TAT will be so proud, more "quality" tourists on the way.
Must be Newcastle supporters now that they are saving money on not having to buy premiership tickets for next season.
I hope you boys can stay up too, not a supporter but a northerner, good luck

Just a word of warning to anyone who thinks safes in hotel rooms are actually secure, if you forget the number you set when you locked it, virtually any staff member knows the procedure to open it.
Therefore this knowledge is only as safe as the integrity of anyone who has worked in a hotel (and their friends)
My advise, either give your valuables to the hotel manager to put in his safe or use a safety deposit box if available.
Or try not to have too large an amount of cash or gold.
safe travels everyone
