  1. I've just completed the TEFL course and thinking of going to teach in Thailand for 6-12mths.

The thing is, I have braces and am not finished my treatment til next year. Just wondering does any1 know if I could continue my treatment in Bangkok?

Some of the best dentists in the world, just look at all those lovely smiles :o

  2. Some of you may not approve of this, but for others I would appreciate your advice. My friend has suddemly announced he is coming from the UK to Pattaya for a few nights on the town - he's coming for only three days. Seems like madness to me but there you are. Anyway, his English wife thinks he will be away on business in Europe, and he has promised he will phone her every day. I told him to tell her that he won't be able to call everyday, but he's adamant that he must.

Obviously when he calls her he does not want caller ID to be shown, and he has asked if there is a way round this. I have experimented phoning the UK with my Samsung phone (which has a caller ID withhold option) using DTAC, but it does not seem to withhold +66 part of number. I don't know if One-to-Call network is different?? Last time he popped over here fo four days, he used one of the call box internet phones that are dotted around Pattaya. But it was a disaster because in the middle of the call to his English wife (who thought he was in Scotland), a couple of Thai girls started having a loud argument in the background, which she heard and it required some explaining on his part that he was in a Parisian China town. A stupid situation if you ask me, but what can you do...

Anyway, does anyone know how he can phone her in the UK knowing there is no risk whatsoever of +66 being shown. Thanks.

    My arse! :o

  3. Been married for 7 yrs and have noticed that my wife is jealous of my PC. Especially thaivisa, when I refer to it as an information source. I've even offered to teach her how to use the PC, but the most she will attempt is mindless children's games and she is 37 yrs old with a college degree.

Just wondering if others out there have the same situation??

My wife spend all time on her laptop on pantip blog or summat, me, well, I all the time on mine too,lol

  4. I'm tired of the majority of thai dishes, especially the ones we get for lunch at my school!

I'm from Italy and although having tasted many different cuisines from around the world I still think italian food is the best. Sorry.

But then food is much more than stuff we put in our bellies. It's a reminder of where we come from, our past, childhood etc...

been here for 2 years and fed up with rice, rice, rice. Thanks God I'm a good cook and I can find all the ingredients for a nice pasta.

    I want a pizza, please

  5. The problem is that this is my local club, and I do like it here. It is nice to shoot over there after school and have a quick 9 holes.

The biggest problem is one guy, he thinks that he owns the whole city and when he is in a six ball, they just say f.....k off.

Most of the other times now they ask if I can join them, or I ask if I can play through. They are usually really nice that way.

I have to be more Jai Yen, but said that my caddy also said it is bad...

Maybe you can avoid this by starting at 6.00am and enjoy the cooler weather also. Good luck

  6. Since my house was broke into and robbed 3 weeks ago and the eight dogs (all outdoors) I have now slept blissfully through the event, I've been looking for a bona fide watchdog just to bark when someone jumps my wall onto our property. I'm not looking for a maneater, just a noisemaker.

A friend of mine from South Africa has one of these and says they're excellent watchdogs and excellent all around dogs.

I think it's a longshot, but does anyone know of any breeders here in Thailand?

    Thanks for any help.

Have you checked to see if your dogs have canker or something? :o

  7. I want to send a small amount of money to my Thai lady for her up coming birthday and was wondering if anyone knows of a cheap, preferably free, way of doing it,

because the last time I sent money by Swift my bank charged me £20 and her bank also charged £20 making it a very expensive transaction.

I have had problems with the Thai postal service before when greetings cards and small parcels have been mysteriously lost,so I am a bit wary of sending cheques or the like by post.

    All positive suggestion appreciated.

    Thank you.

I opened a current account which I pay money into monthly by standing order, my mum in law is then able to withdraw every month and it cost only bout £2/transaction. Smooth.

  8. Hi All

My stepdaughter was granted her settlement visa today and i would like to take this opportunity to say A BIG THANK YOU to all the people on this forum (especially Scouser) for sharing there knowledge and past experiences with me.

I still have time for one quick rant though :o - why on earth my wife had to wait 8 weeks for a 5 minute interview and also the embassy didnt even ask to see the extra information for which they had asked.

    Rant over :D

    Thanks again

    Steve & Bow & Poppyo.

    Sounds about right, congrats Steve

  9. There is an easier way, tell her you are about to declare bankrupcy, ask if she will stay with you for nothing and even if she woulld help you out financially, dont laugh, a woman from anywhere if in love would help,.this statement will cause a few hiccups but i know my (thai ) wife would, why would any woman that loves you not help,.

Great answer, your right, my wife would give me the last grain. Good test

  10. We all know that beer is considered a bit low class so in keeping with the Pattaya's new attempt at cleaning up the cities image, perhaps they should close all the beer bars and replace them with wine tasting rooms. It would be OK to keep the girls but perhaps have them dress in a way more reminiscent of wine country atmosphere. :o

Hmmm...as the best Bordeaux's come from France, there is a real chance for more French kisses in the future. Not a bad idea at all! :D

maybe some french restaraunts is the answer and some italian, lets face it you cant buy a decent pizza in LOS

  11. Another good method for losing weight is to get rid of your tv set.

I'd probably have to get rid of my computer to gain this benefit!! :o

BTW, I eat about a 500 calorie breakfast. But I might "break the fast" at 8.a.m some mornings, or wait until 10 or 11 other mornings. I try to go 20 hours with out eating once or twice a week. Google "intermittant fasting"--some good info.

    Nice avatar

  12. WHEN I VISITED THAILAND I LOVED IT & THOUGHT THIS IS THE PLACE FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THAT BUT HAVE READ SO MANY HORRIBLE THINGS REGARDING DOGS BEING POISONED THAT IT IS SCARING ME OFF.

I HAVE 2 ADORABLE SMALL PEDIGREE DOGS & AM CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR WELFARE. MAYBE MOVING TO THAILAND WOULD NOT BE SUCH A GOOD IDEA FOR A DOG LOVER LIKE MYSELF. I AM AWARE THAT RABIES IS A MAJOR ISSUE IN THAILAND BUT I FIND IT HARD TO ACCEPT THAT THE "BHUDDIST NATURE" WOULD BE IN FAVOUR OF SUCH CRUELTY :o STRANGELY ENOUGH AT THE MOMENT I AM IN INDIA RIGHT NOW, GOA. I BROUGHT MY DOGS FROM SPAIN. MY ONLY FEAR HERE IS FROM THE POSSIBILITY OF ATTACK FROM STREET DOGS BUT I STICK VERY CLOSE TO HOME WITH THE DOGS & THEY ARE NEVER ALLOWED OUT UNLESS THEY ARE ON A LEAD & WITH ME.

is it safe to take my earplugs out yet???????????

  13. My wife´s cousin (thai) and her husband had a considerable sum of money (as well as some thai jewellery) in a safety deposit box in the vaults of a well-known Bank in Berlin. Just over a week ago there was a lot of building - and excavating - going on at the bank and on the weekend before last a gang of (apparently Polish) thieves broke into the vault.............. but through the rear wall !!!!! They emptied all the deposit boxes. Neither of them wishes to say exactly how much they lost - it pains them to think about it - but he said, he could have bought a Porsche with it!!!!!!! The money was not illegally gained..... they wanted to take it to Thailand with them...... Fortunately he had invested some of it earlier this year in stocks..... but just hadn´t got around to doing anything with the rest. Is it safer to keep your money under the pillow at home??? (assuming you don´t want to deposit it with a bank....). He is meeting reps of the bank this week together with his lawyer in the (very slim) hope that he will get some of it back... but it is in the nature of deposit boxes, that one doesn´t declare beforehand how much one has in it!!!!

They should invest with up to 30k gbp max with ny institution regulated by the Financial Services Authority that wy if anything happen he will have an insurance and should not lose his money

  14. Do you stay in an Hotel and then check the price when you check out? Their markup is their business and their level of patronage will be decided by their prices ultimately. You have a choice where to drink. If everyone took responsibility for their actions instead of blaming others the world would be a better place. If price is an issue ASK BEFORE YOU DRINK :o
