  1. Why would a possible police involvement in a killing change anyone's view of living in Thailand. Just a few short years ago, there were over 2500 extra-judicial police killings of "drug dealers" and that didn't' seem to faze anyone (Thai or farang)?

I suggest you go view a murder and see if it doesn't "shake you up" about life in general. Get some sense while you're at it.

I agree, Ive not seen a murder but I think I would be ill if I did, hope it never happen to me or you too mate :o

  2. Mosquito repellent which contains "DEET" is the most effective...look for it on the label. I usually bring a supply from the U.S. for my father in law...he swears by it.

I find the mozzies in UK are worse than Thai mozzies, 2 weeks to get rid of bump in UK and only 2 days in Thai, but 1 week in UK=1/2bites and 1 Week in Thai=200 bites lol greedy little buggers :o

  3. I think this can be something as simple as too much water intake or possible blockage such as a furball or or other foreign object, also have you considered colitis, this can be caused by certain bacteria such as Salmonella and Campylobacter, viruses and fungi. Did your cat lose weight? I would recomend a visit to your vet without hesitation these things are usually easy to diagnose and complications resulting in delayed diagnosis are often difficult to rectify. I am sure your cat will be fine but please get him checked.

  4. Thanks for the replies Scouse.

BTW it was reading many of your posts and posts of other contributors of this site that enabled me to get my girlfriends visiting visa so easily for the UK. Hurry for thaivisa.com!

Hopefully early next years she'll be over here on a more permanent basis. Time to cross my fingers and prepare for the next step.

    Thanks again

    Dave

Good luck Dave, we went through similar and without any hiccups, try not to get bogged down in all the negitivity of those who say it so difficult, if you make an effort to put all the paperwork in place and you and your intended are genuine you should have no difficulties. (not cheap though, someones making alot of money from our visa fees think) :o

  5. Hi Everyone,

Am posting this to get a general feedback on the rental I am paying.

I am renting a simple one bedroom unit along Sukhumvit 71, the monthly rental is only 3500 Baht. I was also advised upfront that there is a monthly 200 charge for building maintenance.

    Here are my other issues

    1. I was told electricity will averagely be 2000. But I am now paying up to 4000 a month. It is 7 baht a unit, which I understand is slightly higher than normal. I am puzzled by this as I only spend 7 hours a day in the room every day. And that is how long the air-condition is on, nothing else. Is this normally the rate? I also get a general sentiment among tenants that the aircons are always giving trouble.

    2. I was initially told that the TV and fridge will incur a one time 300 and 500 baht respectively charge. But now its a recurring item on the bill. Again, is this within the norm?

I just need to gather some thoughts among the expats here in BKK.

    Thank you

Move to the north, Sahkon Nakon, install a small wind turbine and bobs your uncle :o

  6. Hi!

I am looking for a real professional tatoo artist in Bangkok. One who does not just copy a stupid design onto your body hoping to finish the job before lunchtime.

I am still searching for a good artist with creative ideas. No problem for paying more as it is a good investment for life!

    thanks!

I think Browns in Preston do a really good transfers book, only 30p some lovely designs,,,,perhaps not :o
