  1. You need anti-reflection lenses but more importantly, wear reading glasses rather than general use. You will need to go to a proper optometrist for that as the prescription will be different.

Probably best to reduce the amount of time in front of the screen.

  2. I was reading speak like a thai 2 the other day and came across the expression

Conman, which is translated as sip-beart (18) mong-gut (crowns)

Does anyone know what the origin of this is?

  3. You mean she is moody, grouchy, grumpy, emotional, impatient?

Kee bon can be translated to moody, grouchy, picky or grumpy.

Kee moh hoh = emotional unstable

    Jai ron = impatient

    Jai noi = emotional unstable

Hi, I was trying to impress my tutor more than anything. In English we would only use the adjective 'stroppy' for women, grumpy we tend to use for men more.

I was hoping to find a word in Thai that is only used for women, and meaning gets in a bad mood easily and is difficult to deal with.

  4. Thanks for your reply, though not sure if I understand. I've come across a couple of photographers who focus on photos of mothers-to-be/newborns; they do exist. I was hoping for a broader selection than the couple I've found online.

As for when, I would probably be looking to have the maternity ones done within the next couple of months.

Hi, if you can provide the links, I would be able to tell you if the people involved are what they say they are. It's a little strange to hear that there are photographers who focus on mothers to be and newborns as that should fall under portraiture, which all experienced and competent photographers should be able to handle. The big no-no with photographing newborns is to avoid flash and strong studio lighting as both will obviously hurt the eyes of your child. In general, shots should be taken in natural or soft lighting, which will require a fast lens if the latter.

You can pm me if you need further advice.

  5. Q2 Yeah its tricky. It reads she gets in a mood often. I wanted to find something other than arom sia (sorry can't type Thai). Since the subject is female I thought 'stroppy' might work but anything along those lines would be fine other than 'arom sia'

  6. I can type in Thai on this keyborad so,

Q1 Is motivation raeng juung jai?

The context is I do not have the motivation to exercise today?

Q2 What's the closest word to stroppy or to get in a strop?

  7. I agree there are issues regarding cruelty to animals but it would be a mistake to think of such places as one and the same, some are worse than others.

I dont think that the relative level of badness matters very much.

Okay, well in principle I agree there is much room for improvement concerning how the Thai's treat animals. This is why I didn't like the tiger zoo. ANy place that has a tiger, pig and labrador together needs a kick up the backside. I was interested in khao kiaew because I doesn't look like that kind of place. It seems to offer better conditions for the animals but again, its hard to tell from the website, hence the post. We liked Nong nooch for the gardens rather than the animal anclosure. All opinions welcome.

  8. I didn't like the tiger zoo at all. Nong Nooch was the nicest one. So is khao khiew basically that you just drive around looking at different spots? I take it there are no dangerous animals about as we have asmall child. I don't have a car so we would need to rent a golf cart. Would it be best to go there from sri racha?

  9. Hi all, I was thinking of taking our son to see some attractions in and around Pattaya. We did this a couple of years ago and liked Nong Nooch Graden. I saw a place recently that I didn't know about Khao Kiaew zoo/safari.

Is it worth a visit? The website gives the impression that there isn't much to see but I can't really tell. Would I be correct in thinking its nearer Sri Racha?

  10. Some would say you are crazy not to ride a bicycle in Thailand. I spent over 10 years here before I started riding and had much less appreciation of the city and the country back then. Now I can find my way across Bangkok easily, as I don't have to rely on a taxi driver to make the decisions for me. Some parts of it are completely hidden to those who take more conventional routes in and out of the city. They are nowhere near as bad to ride as people might think. Also, my bike has paid for itself twice over and thus saves me money, and gives me much more freedom. I have only had one close call so far but it was avoided easily. I don't feel in danger but there is always an element of risk when you are on the road, and on a bike you have less protection against freak incidents like the one in the original post.

  11. Such a things doesn't really exist because studio lighting will hurt a young babies eyes. Any experienced photographer will know how to photograph your child whilst NOT using flash at your home. You'd be better off with a photographer with children themself. When were you thinking of a shoot?

  12. That's the principal behind the design but I suspect car baby seats, if that's what you are referring to, would be too bulky, and they don't have footrests either. As mentioned, if anyone knows where bicycle baby seats, seats for children 9 months to 3 years are sold in Bangkok then I am all ears.

  13. Hi all, I was thinking about adding a baby seat to my bike so that my little one could enjoy the experience too. I have a mountain bike btw.In all probability I would keep myself to the backstreets and parks only and wondered if anyone has has bought a baby seat in Bangkok. If they have, I would like to know where they bought it.

From what I've researched, there are three main kinds; the first where a little trailer attaches to the back in which a baby can sit, the second where a baby seat is attached over the back wheel, and thirdly where a baby sits just in front of you. Because I would like the weight balance on the bike to be in one place and have my child in front of me between my arms, its the third type I would like to buy. They are available on amazon but a little expensive to ship.

If someone knows where I can buy them or would like to give their own experience of cycling with their child I would be keen to hear about it.
