At the north its much better than the south of the beach where all the boats are but the bottom line is that there are many much nicer beaches for swimming. Even Karon is noticeably better. There's not a massive difference between Patong and Pattaya these days.

Need to be a little more specific here. Do you mean rock chicks?

You need to do the DNA test. Mahidol and Ramathibodi hospitals offer it, it willl cost 15-20,000 Baht. I could be wrong but if that's too much you can try a blood test first. The child should have the same blood group as you. If not, this is a sure sign that its not your child (not 100% sure here). But if the blood group is the same, this doesn't necessarily confirm you are the father. In any event DNA test is best, they will give you c copy of the results in English and in Thai.

I read that many people in Bangkok think that it was some backpackers from Khao San Road that were behind the bombings.

The translation above is correct. Google translate is not reliable.

someone can give me information about good IELTS centers in Bangkok?
As mentioned above the British Council and IDP are known to be the best places for IELTS. This whole thread has become rather unclear. The ESL market has been saturated in Thailand for a long time now but overall only a decimal point of that studies IELTS. Most courses target young learners, as I am sure you know.
As also mentioned above, IELTS is designed to prepare students for university life abroad. It is those who choose to study IELTS plus, perhaps, a few masochists. If someone can give the numbers on how many students study abroad each year in Thailand then you will have a clearer idea of how many people take the exam on a monthly basis. Such information might be available on the IELTS website though I doubt it.

Does the term 'A kick up with the backside' or something similar exist in Thai. As in something needed to motivate someone or to cause them to see sense about something.

Thanks for the quick responses!
I've only ever used single-entry visas; is it possible to get a double/multiple entry visa in a neighboring southeast asian country?
@Mario: that's good to know, for some reason I thought that entering Thailand by land would only get me 15 days.
It's changed again to 30 days. You should also know that there is a new border quite close tp Bangkok, not too far from Kanchanaburi, its called Nam Rom Phu I think. It's been mentioned on the site before but can't find the exact link sorry.

This won many awards. Great to watch.

Yes I saw that but can this be used in the context of driving habits?

Hi all I have a thia textbook but it damaged by water on some pages and there are a couple of things I can't read. I was wondering if someone could help.
What is erratic in Thai?
Dictionary shows mai nae, mai nawn but I don't think this is correct because the sentence refers to driving habits.
Also I can't read the translation of:
'In the Buddhist religion bad things in life are replaced by good things.'
I can see that bad is being translated as (lai) (evil) but not much else. Would anyone know how to translate this sentence?
Thanks

I think it said at the beginning that two people had died during the race, hardly surprising. The competitor looks dazed and confused towards the end.
-
But if its outdated, isn't it better to remove the posts as they only cause confusion.

ok thanks

I found this... is it accurate?
the link is another forum site travelfish so TV's wildly retarded rules prevent me from posting it.

i've found the best way to embed youtube vids now is to click the little 'special BB code' button third from the left in the tools above. Then click media and paste a 'non HD' link into the box. When you post it it appears as an embedded vid.
Like this.
I just did it that way but it appeared twice in my thread.,

I found this on youtube, quite interesting.

Can we not hijack the Op's post? Found it quite an interesting post and entirely believable.

Thanks for that. I'll have a look.

And in addition, the roads in Ko Tao are far from pleasant. You would have problems carrying it around with your luggage. I would leave it at home.
