They have already confirmed it to me Joe. The VA also confirmed it to me through Peggy.

You should check with Bangkok Bank to confirm you transfers are in the IAT format. Others getting VA benefits have been informed they are not in the IAH format.
Confirmed by Bangkok Bank your address in E Benefits must be a thailand address, and you need to have a direct deposit account with Bangkok bank.
-
U need to make sure that e benefits has your local address here in Thailand and that will trigger the IACH format for your DD. Any questions call me <contact by personal message>.
-
VA does IACH transfers for me with no issues at all. Fill out the form on e benefits and if u do it early enough u will see it in your account at bangkok bank the following month.

My VA disability check goes directly into my bangkok bank direct deposit account. I am 100% P and T. You need to go to Bangkok bank branch and set up the correct account type and bring along your VA papers make sure u have the correct routing numbers. Works fine very happy. I have to go into the bank on payday and then I can use it as I need it. The transfers mine is 3600 a month is shown as coming from the USA so no issues with immigration.

Immigration just called the wife my extension approval is now in. Off to get my 365 days... Thanks to all who took the time to respond to my questions.

Was just curious figured i would ask. Monetarily this process makes no since to me, but i know where the airport is if it starts to effect me. You can close the post now Joe, no need to make additional work for your self babysitting all day. Off to make my biscuits and gravy.....
-
OK, guess treaties and all that would make since. Still though, if a farang needs at least 40K to be able to survive at a minimum for their own safety reasoning to cover the farang and family well......., guess they don't care if the Asean citizens starve? How many of them have health insurance, being inquiring today i guess.

Like I said i am thinking out loud here. I have no skin in the game, so no need for me to go to immigration and ask. I simply show the bank book.
What hurdles are we talking about here. The one, and only one that I know has to do just like I do. They live down the road. Can you tell me what the hurdles she misses out on. I don't see any, we both do 90 day reports, we both have to get our visa's extended once a year.
-
oh so they recognize you don't really need the 65K, if you are living here as a teacher. I am only 47 no skin in this game. But how does that even make since. I don't believe this is thought through very well. A teacher is fine on 30K a month, but a older farang, who lets say owns his own condo, a car and a bike still has to show 65K a month or 800,000 in a Thai bank? Me thinks something is a foot here.

When i went to do my last extension i noticed alot of people from Cambodia, Laos and the like doing there visa's. How are these folks coming up with the 400,000 or the 800,000 baht. You know they are not making any where close to that. How are they getting visa's. Are the required amounts just for Farangs? Surely that would be seen as racist or at a minimum a big joke. I have the required amounts, but these farm types lining up at immigration, i would like to know what they are doing to get there visa's.
Also, i don't know many school teachers making 65K a month, i know a few that do, but most up here are in the 30K range. How are they getting visa's?
Just thinking out loud here.

The last three times my new extension came through prior to the 30 days being up. I simply went to immigration a few days before the 30 days expired and was given the 1 year extension. This is the first time the approval of extension has taken this long. Now, the stamp in my passport runs out (my thirty day extension while paperwork is approved) on the 14th, so i don't know what will happen when i got back on the 14th. She said they are sent to Bangkok, but who knows..
-
They Don't have my passport. I have it. I applied for my 4th extension of stay based upon marriage, submitted my documents, they were all accepted. Immigration then gave me a 30 day extension while we wait for the new extension to be approved by Bangkok. That 30 day extension is up in 3 days. My extension approval has not come back from Bangkok yet. So i guess on the 14th, the day of expiration i will go back to Immigration and see what they will do. I thought someone might have gone through this before. Which is why i asked here.
-
to my understanding that is what the 30 day stamp was for. A small update from immigration, she just told the wife that she believes there is a huge batch waiting on a senior immigration official to approve. Told my wife she won't let me go into overstay, and we are to return on the 14th. Wife seems to think she is going to give me another 30 days if my package has not come back approved by the 14th.
I am also making a side plan to fly out late on the 14th to a near by country if necessary.
-
So in a few days i should go back and ask for a new stamp extended me for 15 or 30 days more. My date is 14 Feb and then overstay.
-
I went to Sarahkam immigration this morning to pick up my one year extension of stay. My latest stamp in my passport expires in 3 days. She gave me 30 days when she accepted all my documents. My question to you is what happens in 3 days, she told my wife to call back in 2 days. Will they just give me another extension of 30 days while we wait or do i need to get my ass to the airport. Thanks!
-
Yeah last time i was at immigration up here i noticed they had three of them. They seemed to be pretty happy about it.
-
Well next January i will have 11 months of statements, but i could not change it over fast enough. Hope that works, if not, well i guess i will see then.

I pay 45k per kid for insurance and its pretty comprehensive. For me its 80k but i am already covered so i passed.

Was talking with a cousin back in the states earlier today, he is paying 1500 for Rent, plus all the utilities, car payments, etc, him and his wife are struggling on 4.5K USD a month. My whole family does pretty well on 3500.00 USD a month. So even after all the bitching, the visa issues, its still a better quality of life here than what i would have in the USA.
