I'm sure the issues I face are not new and many here would have walked down a similar path.
I'm keen to pursue a relationship with a girl I love. I'm Australian, she is Thai.
Everyone knows building a new relationship is difficult as it is without adding the following.
- Being non professional, my abilty to earn a worthwhile income in Thailand appears to be very limited.
- I have a few years to go before reaching retirement age, and probably need to continue generating foreign income.
- Thai Visa restrictions appear to limit my access to three months each year.
All I want to do is live with my new partner and see where the future takes us.
I don't think bringing her to my country is the answer.
Taking her out of her environment and isolating her from her family would probably destroy what we have.
The Family is her life.
What should I do?
Don't want to bring you down or anything BUT. If she's a 'girl' and your an old geezer just a 'few years off retirement', you will have a lot more to contend with than just 'cultural' differences.
I am 35 and 2 years away from retirement, i would not call myself an old geezer

i would not put to much stock in a book, each person is different, just be aware that it may be a scam, i have many friends who have had long lasting wonderful relationships with Thais, just keep your wits about you and everything should be ok. Best of luck to you sir..

give it time, see if it grows if it does not, come back and meet some one else when you retire... Time is the best indicator...

Take Ice bar for example on LK metro, been open 2 months now, and its up for sale. I think a solid business plan should be manditory prior to opening any business, this slow season had almost forcasted itself with last years high season not being that great. eh, TIT up to you.....
Plenty of ladies still around though, happy mongering.....
My my, if that's true it's not even two months.
They opened the 21st of July. Half the BIB were there for the occasion I think!
I stopped by on the 23rd of July:
Seems it was seriously under-capitalized if they want out five weeks after opening. Little to do with a slow season to be honest. Of course if it's Alex who told you that you do have to take it with a grain of salt. He's been known to tell a porky or two..............

it is without a doubt one of the slowest low seasons on recent record. In certain areas Soi 7 and Soi 8 and also some of the bigger a go go's seem to be doing a good trade. It may be good for Pattaya in the long run, with the sharp reduction in the number of bars, there are simply to many in pattaya and market conditions are taking over, the strong will survive but many many more will fail.

The government can and should stop this action and restore a since of order, i also believe the rail roads to be a critical transportation system for many Thai's. The government should clamp down hard on these rail road engineers. People are breaking the law, its as simple as that, they are nothing but criminals, and should be dealt with as such...
Mostly I am angry becouse it puts the wife in a bad mood, i hate to listen to it all day. lol

kasikorn bank has serviced me pretty well over the last year, i like there on line banking, and swift transfers are quick and easy, but my bank in the states recommended K bank to me, they work with them.

With all the current economic & political un-certainty, fuel prices predicted to keep the steep upward trend for the forseeable future, inflation at its highest level in a decade (officially), hyper-inflation on many day to day consumables, what will happen if the Baht drastically slumps against the $USD?
Cheers,
Soundman.
if the baht slumps against the dollar, i shall buy as much baht as i can, becouse it will just be temporary, i think market conditions will bring it back to the 34 range, when this will happen, i have no idea....

Walked in yesterday at 1255, first thing i notice, is that they are open from 8-12 and 1-4, so we wait, then at 110 he decides its time to serve the farang, gets the key and opens the door. There are visa forms in a box on the table, no pens so bring one with you, you will also need one passport photo.
Next he looks through my passport for Laos visa, asks me why i am going, i tell him shopping, he says you come back to thailand, i said yes, i have a multi entry visa, he looks, why you go Laos he asks me, i said to go shopping, my wife starts talking in Lao to him, and then he says ok you shop shop, i pay the fee of 1,600 bahtski and sit back down, 10 minutes later i have a 1 entry 60 day tourist visa for Laos. Okay not to shabby.....
Now its my mates turn. He looks through his passport and says why you go laos, he says shopping with me, i wave, he says you come back thailand, he says yes, but your 90 day visa is expiring you need new visa, he says yes needs new visa, and wants to shop.... Now he already had 3 Laos visas in his passport, anyways, they gave him the visa, but told him next time he will be refused.....
The girls don't require a visa, just there passports and an ID card...... They can stay for up to 30 days on it....
