  1. Well at least they put something out.  I am doing my next extension of stay on Tuesday, i have my embassy letter for this year, i will talk to them and see what they want me to do next year.  Transferring every month is easy enough i guess, i hate to pull out 15K USD out of one of my 401's if i don't need to.  I get 3500 from the VA every month, i never will understand why the Embassy can't log into the VA payment system or SSI for that matter and say yes this person is getting this.  Either way i will figure it out.  Wanted to thank UD Joe for taking the time to provide us with all this information.  Happy hour approaches in Issan, have a great day everyone.

U.S. Mission in Thailand to Cease Providing Income Affidavit

    October 26, 2018

    Bangkok, THAILAND

As of January 1, 2019, the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok and the U.S. Consulate General in Chiang Mai will cease to provide the income affidavit for the purpose of applying for Thai retirement and family visas and will not notarize previous versions of the income affidavit.  The Royal Thai Government requires actual verification of income to certify visa applicants meet financial requirements for long-stay visas.  The U.S. government cannot provide this verification and will no longer issue the affidavits.

Please consult the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. and Royal Thai Immigration Bureau websites for information on how to meet the requirements for a Thai retirement visa or extension.

  3. It comes into my USA account, some gets transferred to Bangkok Bank some comes out of the ATM as i use NFCU so all the fee's are returned to me on the 20th of every month.  That may be the only change i will make is to start transferring at least 90,000 Thai Baht to my wife's account at Bangkok Bank every month, rather than just transferring 40 or 50 K a month and then pulling the rest out 20K at a time from the ATM.

  4. I have no problem proving my income, i can walk right over to JUSMAG and get my proof of income, in fact i am sure i can get someone over there to send it directly to the ACS if need be.  I just called a friend at JUSMAG, he called over there to the ACS to people he knows, they basically told him, Thai visa does not make the rules and I should go drink a beer and relax.

  5. I went to do my last 90 day report a few days ago, this time i took the wife with me as i have been reading on this forum of changes coming for people like me who use their VA pension (130,000 TBH per month) for the income requirement as part of my yearly extension to stay based upon marriage to a Thai National.

    She stated the following:

NO CHANGES FOR US CITIZENS NOR HAS THE THAI GOVERNMENT ASKED FOR ANY CHANGES TO BE MADE

GO TO YOUR EMBASSY GET ME THE SAME LETTER AS YOU HAVE DONE FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS AND YOU WILL BE FINE

NO CHANGES ARE IN THE WORKS

SHE MADE 2 PHONE CALLS TO BANGKOK TO CHECK

IF ANY FUTURE CHANGES ARE MADE, THE THAI IMMIGRATION OFFICE WILL PUBLISH THEM LEAVING PLENTY OF TIME FOR PEOPLE IN MY SITUATION TO ADHERE TO THE NEW RULES.

STOP LISTENING TO THE RUMOR MILL ON FARANG INTERNET, ONLY THAI IMMIGRATION KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING

So i will go down just after the first of January like i always do, get my income letter and take it to immigration with the rest of the package that just require me to change the dates and press print.
