You indicated the poster said he got 400 days although you didn't say that his stamp had 400 days written on it (instead of the usual one-year deal).  Did the poster you refer to obtain a singular 400-day extension stamp?

@CMBob I doubt that I will get a definitive answer, however I infer that he applied close to the expiration of his previous extension, was given an under consideration stamp that was for the usual 30 days, that the processing time was longer, and that when the new (current) extension was stamped it gave permission to stay until March 2025, while his previous permission to stay was February 2024

The permission to stay never has the number of days written

    1. it has the application date
    2. the report by date
    3. the expiration date
    4. and the date it was stamped

So the 400 days is a calculated number of days as are the standard 365 days of the usual extensions

NB all the above is regarding a spouse extension

Recently... I had 3x live connections:

    1) Thai e-SIM (activated - But switched off while roaming unless I wanted an OTP then momentarily switched it on)

    2) France e-SIM (used while in France)

    2) Work SIM (installed in phone)

Did you actually have 3 active connections? I ask as all the companies I know of limit you to 2 active connections at any time.

Was not your Thai sim dormant until activated for the OTP and did it not inactivate the French e-sim while it was active?

This is likely rather difficult to prove or disprove as you would need to receive calls on both lines while getting an OTP.
It is certainly an interesting question and it maybe that the activation of one number can temporarily inactivate another.

Rather silly to speculate when the only fact out there is that some poster somewhere said something in a post.

That is what happens all the time here so how is it different?

    37 minutes ago, CMBob said:

Annual renewals based on retirement or marriage are for one year and the only exception I'm aware of is when that is shortened due to a passport expiration during that one-year time period.

That is also my understanding. However the poster is totally confident that he received more than 365 days. He also knows that the day of the month and month of renewal is not the same and is 400 days from his last extension.

That is precisely why I am asking the questions regarding this unusual stamp,

The Non-O visa and extension of stay being processed on the same day at the same time is the only unusual feature of your 2009 visit to immigration, the other dates are completely normal. It is unusual for everything to be done together today but immigration offices and officials have discretion so it is certainly possible that it could happen.

some photo's of the last extension stamp and the new one would be useful

I know that, however the poster in the other forum is positive of the information given to him by the head of the office if the immigration office and the expiration date of his latest extension, which he received a couple of days ago, and is 400 days or about that, from the last extension.

Given that and the other poster who is currently checking with immigration who has also received a more than 365 day extension I am not going to ask for more concrete proof,

The forum is https://www.reddit.com/r/Thailand/ and you can join and request photos if you like

  5. I am well aware of the usual situation.

The under consideration period is dependent on the office to which you apply.

in some offices it is 30 days from the date of application.

in other offices (Udon is one) the application date is irrelevant and it is always 30 days from the the date your current extension finishes so can be a total of 75 days

in every office that I know of the extension that is finally stamped into your passport is 365 day after the current extension finishes, this means that the day and month of the extension does not change.

The under consideration period is not the question.
a shorter than 365 days due to the passport period, is not the question.

a different day and month because of a 60 day spouse visit extension is not the question.

The report is that for 1 known user they received not 365 days but 400 days and the day and month changed.

The question is has anyone else had their day and month change because they were given more than 365 days?

The report is from the south, so region 6. The exact office is not specified but is likely to be Songkhla immigration office.

  6. Hi
As a background to my question.

There is a poster on another forum who is receiving his extension of stay in the south possibly, but unconfirmed, from Songkhla immigration office. He states that his renewal date (day, month) is 400 days after his current extension expired

    Quote

Doing the math I was given 30-37 days plus 365 days = 395/400 days for one application fee. The captain was clear before this is what they will do

There is another user on the other forum who states that he was given 12 months after the under consideration period finished who is going to check with the immigration office, there is no more information from him yet.

So my question is does anyone know of this situation, I haven’t heard of this before but I don’t monitor the forum closely?

My understanding is that the renewal is always 1 year from the expiration of the current permission to stay if being renewed for the same reason.

Both of the posters claiming more than 365 days are extending a marriage extension?

I well understand that different immigration offices have different policies but this one was, I thought, set in stone so thought I was correct to question the truth of the initial claim.

Is this a a Region 6 policy? Is it unique to a particular office? Is the change unique ?

Am I wrong to use it or are these appliances not suitable for Thailand's climate?

You can use them, however for them to be really effective you need a low humidity, in Thailand the humidity is virtually never low, so to be efficient you can run a dehumidifier or you AC on dehumidify.

They work in the large indoor spaces where they are sold because they can’t run the humidity up much.

in California where the humidity is under 20% they are great as they cool and introduce needed humidity

There has been no flickering since Sunday morning. Since then, the voltage is stable. The only thing I have changed is that since Sunday morning, I no longer have my Air Conditions running in the 'Cool' mode but use the 'Dry' mode instead. I am far from saying that this is the root cause because I have previously gone for weeks without flickering even when using the ACs in the normal cooling mode. The ACs are on their own breaker as you can see in the pictures of my original post. Could this be somehow power-related where all my appliances draw too much power? But then again, often times it flickers in the morning right when I switch on the lights.. at that time I haven't even switched on the AC in the living room and only the bedroom AC is running, nothing else.

The symptoms are precisely those of the power system being somewhat overloaded. It isn’t just you that is being affected, don’t believe any suggestion that it’s unique to your apartment. The condo technician isn’t checking because he as nothing better to do, there is a known problem.

There are inexpensive volt ameters and there are slightly more expensive ones that are easy to fit and going up in price there are versions that will record the data. I suggest that you invest a little because then you can see in real time how much the voltage is being pulled down and the amps drawn to drop the voltage. When you have proof that the voltage is being pulled down (video of the meter) it is more difficult for the condo to claim that there is no problem.

My air compressor will drop the voltage enough to cause the lights to flicker, this isn’t a problem for me as it’s daytime use

Colloidal silver is a mineral. Colloidal silver products were once available as OTC drug products, but in 1999 the FDA ruled that they aren't safe.

Colloidal silver can kill certain germs by destroying proteins, which is why it was previously used in wound dressings. But silver has no known function in the body and is not an essential mineral. Taking silver by mouth can cause the skin to turn a permanent bluish color. It can also cause brain function problems.

Colloidal silver has been used for infections, hay fever, skin conditions, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support any of its uses. There is also no good evidence to support using colloidal silver for COVID-19. It can be unsafe when taken by mouth, applied to the skin, or inhaled.

    That is the broad overview

However what you want to do with a product that has been generally determined it be at best of questionable use and for some uses positively detrimental is not my business, you may have some innocuous use.

As has been pointed out, the power supply is the wrong tool for your job, it has circuitry that stops it delivering the amount of power that your setup can draw.

If you go with the 2 car batteries be sure that you can break the circuit before the jar overheats. You are likely to find that the power draw is dramatically greater than you have seen before and that you were limited by the batteries sustained power draw.

  10. 45 minutes ago, Pouatchee said:

here is what i am trying to do. i am trying to make colloidal silver so i have two poles [+/-] connected to silver plates dipped in water. i have been using the 3 batteries in parallel for a while now but it is getting expensive in batteries.

While you actually connected them in series rather than parallel, that isn’t a problem other than explaining your actual meaning. Also making colloidal silver is a rather interesting idea that many disagree with.

However your power supply is far less than is needed to power the reaction. The voltage maybe high enough but the current at 3A (and that is a maximum probably 1.5A constant) isn’t enough. To discover how much current is being used you need an ammeter on the full power batteries.

It is possible that if you leave the supply connected for days you may get the result you expect in minutes. 😉

A doctors medical certificate is required for each license.

    I hope you are OK.

If renewing both licenses the majority of DLT offices accept photo copies for the second license, this includes certificate of residence and every other document.

However TIT so it is certainly possible for a particular office to require originals so no one persons experience is any guarantee that your experience will be the same.

The difference between m2 and m3 aren't huge.

Until the reviews come in with different specifications of machines this is rather hard to be definitive about, this is due, among other things, to ram configurations and power to drive a bigger display.

I don’t say that you are not correct for 2 specific machines but what is true for those may be rather different for 2 different machines, for an example the 512 M1 was very close to the 512 M2 due to 2 x 256 on the M1 and 1 x 512 on the M2 but compare the 512 M1 to the 1Gb M2 and the difference was very significant.

In any event the jump from a 2012 to any M series will be huge

  13. The order date is not yet confirmed in Thailand as you know. The fastest way to obtain one will be by going to one of the two Apple stores in Bangkok, they will have supplies available for purchase as soon as they are released in Thailand. It isn’t certain that you will be able to get one on release day as it will depend on stock, you may be able to order one through the Apple website for immediate collection on release day

  14. The availability of products in Thailand is extremely difficult to predict. Historically it has varied between a couple of weeks and several months.

This has often been a blessing in disguise as the review sites have been able to get more in-depth information available before you are able to purchase. One of the rather critical points was the difference in number and capacity of ram chips, the M1 used smaller chips than the M2 this meant that for the lower end machines the M1 was better than the M2. This information was not available at realise time. So to gain the speed boost of the M2 chip you had to get the higher speck machine to get the parallel read write performance the M2 was capable of.
This is a boost I appreciate everyday where the performance would have been hobbled with a lower ram machine.

Thank you very much gentlemen.  When I get a chance, I will open it up and clean the inside, then put a moth ball in it before closing.

Yes, could be. Or other critters moving about relocating some corpses?

The mothball is not a good idea as the volatiles could well attack the circuitry and components. What works is the ant powder. I now add some to virtually all light fittings and sockets and its lasts forever, the mothballs will need to be replaced, probably annually. Not to mention that the mothballs are large.

As you might know I am no trump fan. and I hope he gets what's coming to him,

But let me ask you this,

What happens if trump pays the judgment and then case is reversed in appeal?

How is then trump made whole?

I have no knowledge of your political interests

Trump can protect his interests by posting the 350 ~ 460 million bond

if he doesn’t, and he has just lost the claim to post a 100 million partial bond, then the judgement is going to be collected.

However the state has no obligation to put him into the position he was in before the judgement was collected if they get reversed.

as an example, say trump tower is seized and sold for a fire sale price of 300 million and 40 Wall Street brings in the balance so total 460 million and the proceeds given to NY state.

Trump wins (he can’t but we allow the fantasy) the cash 460 million is returned to him but the buildings remain sold.

as I said his only way to protect the properties is to post the 460 million bond

    1) delay, yes but the clocks are not stopping.

They do if he is elected. or if the judgment  reversed on appeal.

Well any appeal is going to be at least 1 year out before it’s heard and by that time the majority judgement will have been collected. Any possible election success has zero effect on state judgement. Any state judgements will not/can not be stopped by possible federal election success.

The only way to stop the clocks are by DJT finding a total of roughly 460 million as a bond and he claims he only has 100 million.

    2 hours ago, sirineou said:

I don't think it will be collected in 25 days. if the appeal moves forward, I am sure he will find a way to delay collection until after the appeal is heard.

He is desperate trying to find a way but needs another 360 million to stop the clock, that is the only way to do it.

get elected president, that is not going to stop New York State collecting the money. As president he has no power over the state court judgement. He has power over federal courts but not state courts

It would change the whole ball game and accommodations will be made for the good of the country

    That is a nice thought.

trump knows better than anyone else where he is at at this point.

The interest in the judgments is irrelevant. Regardless of if he pays it now. or he waits until the amount is 10 billion, the outcome would be the same.

He would be left with ZERO

So he has three choices IMO , one is to delay, the other is to  win the appeal, and the third to get elected president. Two choices really , The delay is only to enable the other two.

I would love to be a fly in the wall where his strategy sessions take place.

Your 3 choices are not really correct

    1) delay, yes but the clocks are not stopping.

    2) win the appeal, well yes he could but by then he will have no money left. He doesn’t have the $460 million to stop collection of the judgement, so the judgement is going to be collected starting in about 25 days.

    3) get elected president, that is not going to stop New York State collecting the money. As president he has no power over the state court judgement. He has power over federal courts but not state courts

He has said he only has 100 million in cash and liquid assets, it is extremely unlikely that the court will grant a stay on collection without him posting the full $460 million.

So his only chance is to start liquidating assets or find an actual rich man who will give him the money

This may be the only solution.

Just because I think I will be dead before these guys finally get up to speed.

I am not sure how much this will decrease the cooling efficiency due to heat loss from the pipe extension.

Yet, this seems the only solution, at this point.

    Very unfortunate.

    It isn’t the only solution.

if the shoe is dampening the noise enough to be acceptable there is at least 1 more action that has a good chance of working.

The top cover is clearly resonating without a dampening object on it.

That cover is also clearly easily removable.

Assuming that the items under that cover are not tight against it (this is a reasonable assumption)

then you get some closed cell foam sheet, this material is reasonably easy to source if you go to a foam supplier (I know of 1 in Udon)IMG_8404.thumb.jpeg.ce4b0efc1c6a8dfb62413eb8e7b6be09.jpeg

using spray adhesive stick that to the underside of the top panel, this will both stop the resonating noise and provide a small amount of damping. I used this idea to quiet a compressor and the sound reduction was significant

If there is still an uncomfortable noise report back.

The benefit of this is that it will be invisible

I wanted to get an International License in Chiang Mai too.

At the window I was told validity was only one year, cost for IDP car license 500 THB, and I have to specify the country for which the license was valid. Those restrictions were not attractive for me, so I passed.

Did you also get a license valid one year for only one country or did I misunderstand the questions?

You seem to have a few misunderstandings.
    There is no international license

There are a couple of different IDPs (international driving permits)

The different IDPs are a translation of the limits of your license into different languages

An IDP has no validity without the license it is based on, you need both.

An IDP is valid for all countries that have signed the treaty on which it is based

An IDP itself is valid for between 1 and 3 years.

The IDP usually is only valid for 90 days from entry into a country irrespective of the validity of the IDP itself

In Thailand while the police will usually ignore the 90 day limit your insurance company probably will not as the insurance is only valid after 90 days if you are driving with a Thai license, so if you want to drive uninsured don’t get a Thai license. Are you going to have problems? This will depend on luck with avoiding a serious accident.

Is this insurance limitation a problem in other countries? You will need to be intimately familiar with your insurance policy to know the answer.
