  1.

Reading in the news just now that a lot of Thai`s are starting to wear a lot of pink and yellow shirts today to show respect for the most beautiful man that Thailand has.

Is it ok for a falang to do the same or would it be considered an insult??

  2. I see the news reports about a bout a lot of rain and flooding in Bangkok however since I`m only a tourist and don`t normally spend a lot of time in Bangkok all the different places mentioned still leave me a little lost.

Apart from an umbrella and perhaps some waterproof shoes is there really that much rain to worry about? I`ve got a friend coming next week and will be staying close to where MBK is...

  3.

Can someone please tell me where this place is located??? I was sent these photos by a close friend who tells me they are just outside of Bangkok but I don`t know where. Also if possible what would be the best way to try and visit them...

    Thanks

  4. A friend is in CM at the moment and tells me he was at the night market and he went past a shop selling some belt buckles but now can`t find it again.

Anybody else seen it in thier travels??? I`m stuck here in Perth Aus so can`t help him look.

  5. Sorry for the late reply, I took a look at the home page and apart from the home page being english the rest was all in thai.

I have emailed the co-ordinator so I`m hoping he will be able to help. smile.png

  6. Got a friends daughter attending university in Phrae and I`m hoping to be able to surprise her and her family at her graduation in October.

Anybody have any idea what dates it could be? If I can find out the universitys web page would it be on there somewhere??

  7. Ear ache.

Took a trip to Phi Phi island about 3 days ago and took part in some scuba diving for the first time.

Didn't really go down deep but still a lot of fun. Since then there has been a small pain in my left ear and it's hard to hear at times.

Does anybody know a good drug store or doctor along Patong beach I can ask for advice from. I am sure it's only something minor.

  8. I don't want to be facetious, but have you tried to google Phuket maps?

Not too computer smart but I think I did, what I am hoping to find is one thats shows the streets as well as some of the temples etc. My friend and I will be hiring scooters to look around with.

  9. Hoping to be in Phuket soon so I am trying to do some research before I arrive.

Does anybody know where to find or is it possible to upload a tourist map of Phuket.

  10. When in Bangkok, is there a rule or guide when it comes to bargaining with Tuk tuks or taxis the fares??

Should you aim for half of whatever they offer or a little bit more than that?

  11. Hoping to be in Bangkok soon so I am trying to do some research before I arrive.

Does anybody know where to find or is it possible to upload a tourist map of Bangkok. I need to try and find the main roads, train stations and ferry stops as well as where the main temples are.

I usually get one on arrival but am hoping to give myself a head start.

  12. On Sundays ( and i think Saturday too) there is a special train that leaves from Humpalong Station that does the trip to Kanachinburi, river Kwai and to the end of the line. It leaves at about 8 in the morning and when we did it last year it arrived back late at about 9.00 pm. It costs about 100 baht per person and mainly Thai but is still a good day. Second class fan carriages. Check the details times etc yourself for accuracy as i am only relying on my memory.

    Thanks for the info...

    I have found this... http://www.seat61.com/Bridge-on-the-River-Kwai.htm#.VYrFQfmqpHw

but I am worried about this...

MPORTANT IF TRAVELLING 1 JUNE TO 31 JULY 2015: Due to a (welcome) rebuild of the line between Nong Pladuk & Kanchanaburi, no trains will run over this section between 1 June and 31 July 2015. Trains will continue to run between Bangkok & Nong Pladuk and between Kan'buri & Nam Tok.

Also I will only be in Bangkok from the Tuesday to the Thursday.

  13. Any tips?? Friends have suggested getting to the river

Kwai bridge by train instead of bus or taxi and I feel its a super great idea however looking at seat61.com it appears during June,July the train stops about 3 stations short. Anybody know if there are buses that can take you the rest of the way or taxis?? Is it far away??

    Thanks.

Sent from my PNDPP42DG10BLK using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

  14. Heading to Phuket for a good weeks break in July and was thinking of doing some parasailing since I`ve never tried it before.

Is there any group someone can recommend and any idea on the cost involved?

Also any of the water tours worth doing?

    Thanks in advance.

  15. Your "friend" should be able to provide you the correct address, shouldn't they?

Or are you working hard to live up to your name?

Bit of both, my friend is Thai so he has tried to translate the address to English the best he can.

Post 11 you asked for the address in English and Thai and now you say you friend is Thai, so he would normally be able to give you the address in Thai, wouldn't he? You are living up to your name Silly.

    Yes.... being very silly.

If someone was able to post the address I may be able copy and past it onto an envelope.

My friend doesn`t use the internet (Old school) so all he could do was send it via text but I have no idea how I can copy from that to an envelope. Do you??

  17. Been told Songkran has started early so it`s probably the wrong time to ask but is any member kind enough to check an address for me and write it in both English and Thai??

Tried looking up Welcome Inn guest house on the internet without much luck.

  18. Simple question, I need to send a legal letter from here in Australia to a friend in Chiang Mai.

What is the best way to make sure he receives it??

I`ve tried to simply post twice but it just doesn`t seem to arrive.

    Any other ideas???

  19. Since you seem not to have a got a useful lead yet, here are suggestions:

    (1) Call a travel agency in Bkk. They all have guides on their books. Might be expensive though to

hire one for just a small group.

    (2) Less expensive. Respond to a classified by a Thai tutor (plenty such here in TV) and offer a one-day deal. The places you list would be well-known to any Thai in Bkk. I have found tutors from TV and Craigslist, all young, nice people with excellent English. The teaching rate currently is 400-500b/hr. so I guess you should find someone happy to spend half a day with your party for 1000-1500.

    (3) Least expensive. Get onto an English-language teaching forum (ajarn.com?) and ask if someone has a student who wants to get paid for practicing for a day.

    Good luck!

    Thank you for your suggestion.

Last time I hired a guide it was based on feedback from another forum. I was able to hire a guide and driver to take us out to the River Kwai by private car and I`m hoping to find something similar.

  20. Hope to be in Bangkok with a friend July or August and want to show him the Floating markets as well as the River Kwai. Can anybody recommend a good tour guide with contact details and an approximate price?

There was a lady called Nok I used a few years ago but I think sh is now happily married and living in the UK.
