  1. had a family from australia (mum, dad + 2 kids 11 +12) arrive in chang mia today but there hotel is one hour from the city and it costs them 1400 baht to go into city and back ....so does any one know a hotel in the city good for family 4 beds etc...about 1500 baht a day ? for about 4 days stay .

    thanks.

  2. my wife went for a 6 month visa 2 weeks ago she has been there before for 3 months.

they called her after 9 days to ask her to get a chest xray for 6 months or they can give us a 3 month visa now with no xray....so i said we will get the xray.....1500 baht at BNH hospital....so another trip to bangkok...wish they had given her a 12 month multi.

its been 4 days and still waiting for them to send paper work to go to BNH hospital....

  3. This is weird. People are saying that respect for the feelings of the family should be shown. By all accounts his family are Thai and his child is 3 years old...I don't think that they will be on here reading this thread. It's also hard to feel any emotion for the death of someone that we have never met, sad fact, but true. Why was he naked? Why was there blood on the 3rd floor and he was found on the 1st floor? How did the American get in? Did the man open the door naked or did he open the door with his clothes on and then get naked once the guy was there? Was this American a lover?

If we are to be without judgement and just state the facts here, a 66 year old man marrying a 27 year old girl has to be considered unusual. Without judgement...

What is more unusual is the fact that he decided to have kids. We are way beyond the mid life crisis stage, here. It would lead me to question the wisdom and moral compass of such a person...The relationship is acceptable in this day and age, two consenting adults with their own motivations should be allowed to pursue their own dersires...why have children?

As far as this man is concerned, he had 66 years of experience under his belt and still decided to marry a 27 year old woman...He clearly did not read this forum...

People on here have the right to offer their sympathies for a life lost but, let's not ignore the facts...If this murder is going to be solved by the police, they will need to know the man himself.

The facts are: 72 year old retired estate agent, married someone young enough to be his grand daughter, has a child of his own that is young enough to be his great great grand daughter, divorced his grand daughter and found naked beaten in his own house, with no signs of forced entry and has been known to be 'friendly' with another male. It took 3 days for him to be discovered, so clearly, after 6 years has not managed to acquire a group of concerned friends...

Save you sympathies for people who actually wake up in the morning, live a life that is honest and just, surround themselves by people that they genuinely love and love them back. If we live our lives making bad, selfish, childish, hedonistic, egotistical decisions we should expect, at some point, for it to bite us in the ass...He had a good run..

It's all too weird. On the other hand, it's quite possible that he was the nicest and purest man on earth who just happened to move to Thailand, marry his grand daughter, father his great great grand child and get mixed up with a crazy American boxer, if that is the case I stand corrected...

your grand parents ever tell you if you can not say any thing nice ,then say nothing at all.

  4. I don't get involved much in the technical side of dieting but have followed Atkins with some success.

First two weeks very little carbs.

After this I plunge in with my own variations I have one very interesting one.

    PORRIDGE OR OATS.

    100grms are about 59 carbs

I use 20 grams it's a lot mixed with Soya milk and boiling water cooked in micro at 60% for 2 .30m sweeten to taste for breakfast also helps with my cholesterol.

    Approx 12-15 carbs

Same recipe don't micro but add 2 eggs and Soya to mix NO WATER. Cook bacon, chicken, prawns or whatever spring onion in pan and add porridge mix.

Flip and cook two eggs to go with same.

    APPROX 15 carbs

Really fills you up sometimes I cant eat all so full

how big (cup) is 20 grams ?

  5. One time these christian missionaries asked me to take them up the Mekong into Burma in my boat and I was all like "No way, Burma is a warzone." then they were all like "Please!" so I said Okay. Well, they later on got kidnapped by the army so me and a group of mercenaries had to go save them. At one point I got on the back of a jeep with a mounted machine gun and I turned a bunch of Burmese guys into hamburger. True Story...

i saw that movie RAMBO......you are the man.........wow

  6. I had such a neighbor.

His temporary (64 years something) pension was around 20k Baht.

He smoked 80 cigs/day and drank at least 10 bottles of Chang/day.

Had a GF with 10 year youg girl (not his)

    No visa, avoided MIB.

    Was not living in hell.

When his last days were obvious GF wanted him treated at private hospital although he had no cash.

Farangs obliged and promised to collect funds to pay his hospital bill.

    That never materialized.

5 days later private hospital moved him to government hospital where he died a few hours later.

No one cared after that, only his GF was left with the private hospital bill.

His corpse remained in the fridge for months, but I guess he did not care whistling.gif

that is a sad story and i have seen the same thing happen in Sakon nakhon ...normally other farangs come to the ladies help...still very sad.

  9. Move to a city.

When you're stuck in the sticks, if you've no Thai language skills, then you can hardly pick and choose.

You can meet other people every day in Pattaya. You get the odd <deleted> but they're easily avoidable. Once the novelty of having a younger wife and nice house out in the boondocks wears off you want a bit of company with like minded fellows. I have several friends who returned to Pattaya after a spell in the sticks but they were renters not buyers.

yes im one of those....done my time in the village and it was fun then friends moved away and i broke with wife and started to travel around thailand.i have done 335.000klm driving around thailand and Laos and i still not sure where i want to live. so i am also back in pattaya ,in a week i will be bored here and go back up to udon then bored there after 2 weeks and maybe drive into Laos...and on and on looking for UTOPIA ? anyone been there ? i need directions..
