  1. On my first visit to Buri Ram with the future Mrs to meet family etc, I called Budget and asked if I can rent a car from Buri Ram airport. Yes they say, but with a surcharge as we have to bring car from different place. No worries says I and get on the plane. Arrive at airport and pick up the car. Driver takes us to the hotel in town and we do paperwork. Thank you I say, Thank you he says and speaks Thai to the missus. She says he wants to know what time we finish with the car as he has long trip to pick it up. Where did he come from I ask. Turns out he brought the car from Bangkok. Crazy as they have a place in Khorat. If they had told us that at the time I would have driven. As it was I cancelled the pick up and drove it back to Bangkok myself. So, car rental is possible at the airport but under rather bizzare circumstances.

  2. Imac are a big importer of quads into Thailand. Top end of the market though. Very expensive. Have been seeing some Chinese imports. Done some research on th net and it looks like if you are a weekend user then the Chinese ones are fine, but for heavy use, go for the expensive one.

Imac have a website although I dont have the address for them. Google it

  3. Bangkok Phil

Which immigration office did you go too.

Can anyone advise how long it takes after you put your extension application in until you get the extension in the passport. My circumstances are my 1st visa runs out on 8th Jan but I have to leave Thailand on 24th Decemmber to go back to work. Whats the earliest I can put the application in. Do they keep your passport whilst they are processing.

    Thanks

  4. When you get to the Caltex look for the building with the big satellite dish on the roof. Thats his place.

I went there the morning of the opening, was quiet but couldnt make it back for the evening bash. Hope it does well. Had a chat with Ron, says he was a baker by trade back in Aus. Says he will be doing bread, pies pizza etc when he is a bit more established. If he can do good bread then I think he will have a winning sideline. I normally stock up on my run to Bangkok and then freeze it. Will be nice to get fresh stuff.

  5. There is a Brit guy based in Pattaya that does serious off road tours. He has some 250cc off roaders and does the whole package, pick up from hotel, all the riding gear, lunch, water etc. Its not for the amateur though. Its an all day thing and you do a lot of miles. His tracks are GPS logged so there is no chance of getting lost. I know the guy personally and he has put a hel_l of a lot of effort into doing a decent ride.

    Email is [email protected]

    Hope that helps

  6. Thanks for that.

I dont spend much time in Pattaya, but on my next leave I am doing 3 nights at Jomtien so I may have to go check that out. Where is Tukcom. Sounds like my kind of place if they have alll those titles there.

Also, does anyone know of a decent second hand book shop in Pattaya. Need to stock up a bit. Last time I was at Jomtien my mate showed me one on post office soi but it wasnt all that good. Not a great selection.
