  1. I don't believe a person is genetically predisposed to becoming gay,i feel more likely it is something that has happened in their life to push them one way or the other. As for a boy, being brought up with a gay father/parents...Which way do you think his parents are going to direct him, thus increasing the likelihood of him becoming gay.Homosexuallity is not normal, man was NOT designed to be with man,if it were so,how would human kind conceive? :o

Good grief. Your ignorance is appalling. You sound like a graduate from one of those nutty evangelical Christian colleges.

  2. My two cents: Listen to OldenAtwoody. A lot of wisdom there. I have been at the other end of the exchange student process and find that it is nearly impossible to get the Thai students to actually want to return to Thailand. The underlying agenda for the Thai student enthusiasm to "study" in the U.S. is to stay long enough, gain residence and then send for the rest of the family. While this is not immoral, it is a burden on the host country and saps Thailand of the much needed talent for the future. Also, if you insist on carrying on with this do not be offended when the U.S. immigration officer suggests that you are doing this for sexual reasons.

Also keep in mind that the States-side gateway immigration officer can arbitrarily refuse entrance to the Thai national irrespective of the fact that a VISA has been granted by the U.S.Embassy in Bangkok. The hapless student receives no reason for entry refusal and is shipped back to Thailand unceremoniously.

U.S. Immigration frowns on unaccompanied Thai juveniles entering the country and automatically suspects underlying sexual motivations of the host families. Better to send the student to the U.S. through one of the exchange programs.

  3. My deepest condolences to the family. This is a heinous crime and I hope the true culprits are caught and brought to justice. I hope that real justice is served, and not just convenient scapegoats that make it easy for the police and everyone involved, including the real guilty party, whomever it may be.

That being said, the Burmese are ALWAYS a convenient scapegoat in Thailand, especially construction workers. It is so much of a stereotype, that Thais always warned me about BURMESE CONSTRUCTION WORKERS in particularly. I've known literally hundreds of Burmese during my 4 years in Thailand, but funnily enough all of the sex crimes that I' ve heard about have been Thai. But, if there are Burmese construction workers anywhere near a crime, according to Thai speculation and Thai thinking, it must be them.

I am just hoping for a real investigation, and a real arrest. I hope that's not asking for too much.

In my day in the U.S. such things were always blamed on the gypsies! Of course, now days its the Mexicans!

  4. Hey all.

I might have the opportunity to go study in Bangkok later this year. Would just like to know if there is a particular student scene in the overall gay scene? ie particular bars/clubs visited. I'm not a massive scenester but would definitely be interested in meeting new people when I first get there. I have visited Bangkok before but had little interest in gay places at that time and stuck to mainly 'normal' bars and clubs.

    Any help is welcome.

Edit: Sorry but just wanted to add I'll be 23 at that time, so a relatively old student.

    What do you mean "normal"?

  5. It is not at all mean spirited to say that prestige cannot be purchased but has to be earned through deed and honorable results, not purchased in order to be superior and privileged. It is no wonder that the scheme was a failure as most intelligent and ethical people saw through it as an unearned perk and therefor ethically dodgy. Somehow I do not feel much sympathy for those who got conned by the scheme. Simple association with Thaksin should have been the first clue that something was too good to be true. However greed and status seeking motivated the purchase of the card. Thus the ultimate payoff. One has to wonder just how Thaksin benefited from the scheme as he did nothing in the public good without some kind of reward. Probably the majority of card holders are entrepreneurs and with capitalism comes risk. Why exactly benefited from all of this? Now these poor devils will have to stand in the immigration line the rest of us peasants.

  6. Babylon has become, in my opinion, a tired-out meat rack overrun with money boys. The barracks are no better than a boy scout jamboree and the communal showers and toilets are unpleasant. The restaurant provides good food at a slightly inflated price and the swimming pool is top rate. Strangely, the last time that I was in residence there they ran a guy out of the pool for swimming nud_e. Image, a gay sauna/sex club and they object to nudity. I believe that the place is overrated and over priced. The last three times that I attended to the place I examined my bill at check-out. Each time there was a charge on the bill which was improper: e.g., massage service, shop purchase and food. While the overcharges were not astronomical they were irritating so I refused to pay them on principle. The cashier was nasty and rude when I pointed out that they were not my charges so I did my lunatic act and forced him to bring the masseuse, the waiter and shop boy that placed the "charges". In each instance the boys claimed that they did not recognize me and each disclaimed that they were the once entering the charges. It strikes me that there is a concerted effort by Babylon to penny ante improper charges as a way to increase revenues without actually providing the service. No wonder the straight Chinese/Thai owner is a millionaire. I think that he relies on the belief that most gay foreigners are too timid and intimidated to challenge these charges, especially in light of the aggressive and threatening behavior of the cashier. The place has become a scam IMO. But of course so are the taxis, tuck-tucks, motorcycie taxies and song tau operators. TIT. Caveat emptore.

  7. On my first trip to DJ Station I took one look around and decided that it was a fire trap and have not entered the place in years. The management is only interested in baht and the patrons are only interested is being seen and exercising their cocks. The place is a disaster waiting to happen. Now, if anyone on this forum can figure out a way to keep the queens and horny old men from going there, a Nobel might be in your future. But until then, the patrons will flock to the place and then blame everyone else when they get consumed by fire.

  8. SCAM ALERT-AN EXAMPLE OF A SCAM:

The Gay Romeo names of this con artist is CHACK1985, KENGMARK and HECKMAN, and others. He changes names frequently to escape retribution by his marks. His target is older, gay white guys. Be especially alert when dealing with him. He is English speaking Thai confidence man and scam artist and is very polished and clever in relieving you of your money without delivering any services. His specialty is to promise to meet you and then call advising that he has run out of gas and is stranded in Nan province, without money and food and needs you to wire funds to his Bangkok Bank account. He will then tell you that his grandmother had a heart attack and that he used some of the money to take her to the hospital so (...send more money please…) and that it is very dangerous for gays in Issan and he has to escape. He will never show up and will not answer his cell phone. If he does show up he will rob you. He is not even gay although he purports to be. He will then re-contact you and beg forgiveness and that he will pay you back if you will send him money to come to Pattaya to get a job. He will phone every 30 minutes begging for money to be transferred to his bank account and that he is frightened and in danger where he is stranded. He is an accomplished liar and a thief. BEWARE! If you do not do as he says he will threaten to kill you or says he will go to the police to get you deported. He is a toothless tiger as the threats are all a bluff.

  9. The current tourist situation is a double edged sword. Thais who depend upon the tourist trade will suffer, back on the farm or not, as most Thais involved in the tourist trade are supporting families back in the provinces. On the other hand, there will less western derelicts and their insulting habits and condescending arrogance to deal with.

  10. Prior to the United States military turning Pattaya into a big whorehouse, it was a charming fishing village. Now it attracts the very worst ignorant derelicts that the western world has to offer. Thai immigration should have an I.Q. test and everyone who scores less than normal should be put back on the airplane to America, Germany, Holland, Romania and the United Kingdom where most of them come from. They are the worst possible examples of civilized human beings. They represent the most persuasive reason for condoms (that their parents failed to wear).

  11. Christians have completely ruined the American culture with their homophobia and general hate towards anything not white and hanging on a cross. Homophobia is rampant in the States and the attack on the two guys is only the tip of the iceberg of hate crimes there. The Bush administration did absolutely nothing to curb hate crimes unless it was perpetrated against one of his industrial eunuchs that gave him wheelbarrows of cash. This incident, and hundreds of other such "events" is the principal reasons that I left that ignorant, hateful christian culture. Time after time, during my investigations of such crimes, I have found that the police reduce the "hate" element of the bashing to "simple assault" and the homophobes gets a wrist slap. We finally put one of San Francisco's "finest" behind bars for his systematic gay bashing. His defense? "They looked at me like they wanted to have sex". The "homosexual panic" and "Twinkies overdose" defense no longer works in court but the U.S. has a long way to go before it is truly a government under the Constitution (which Bush shredded). Violence against gay people in the States is still tolerated and I truly doubt that the bullies in this case will end up in jail (where they would truly experience homosexual rape).

  12. I moved to Thailand at age 70 (five years ago mainly to escape the suffocating christian American culture and the excesses of the Bush administration (talk about evil empires). I have never been so happy and feel so accepted and I have no plans to ever return to the United States of greed, indifference and persecution. My standard of living in Thailand far exceeds that of the States. I shutter at the thought of living in a country that elected King George the Bush and his evil christian soldiers and practices. While Obama will soon be Commander-in-Chief, 46% of the people voted to continue the Bush administration policies through his nominee McCain. I would never expose myself to the ignorance and hate of that 46% ever again. With all of its faults, the worst day in Thailand is better than the best day in the States. American immigration is a gestapo look-alike (Bush storm-troopers). So essentially, I am in Thailand as a refugee from ignorance, hate, greed (consider wall street), intolerance (the christians) and the shredding of the U.S. Constitution by the born-again Republican Nazis (who are probably planning the assassination of Obama right now). Am I bitter at my birth country? You becha yer sweet ass!

  13. Bangkok Bank quarterly posts interest payments in my savings account. I never pay attention to how much because the purpose of the account is to continue to be eligible to stay in Thailand. I also do not have a lot of traffic in my account for the same reason. I just pretend that I do not have a lot of money in my Thai account so do not depend upon it in any way other than to qualify. My policy is that the account is there for emergencies if needed. Worrying about it is not worth the stress. If I rely on the account for living expenses then I cannot afford to live in Thailand. But my account does pay interest.

  14. The Captain's Table at Ocean Marina Yacht Club has an excellent Christmas dinner reasonably priced. Outstanding service and views. Excellent parking and very nice strolling areas around the marina.

  15. Two places that I recommend are:

    Ocean Marina Yacht Club Captain's Table restaurant. A real class act and good food. Beautiful views in every direction and incredible service, excellent parking;

    or

Au Bon Coin. Excellent French country (Midi) cooking but a devil to get into because of popularity. Difficult to find as well but worth the hunt. Terrible parking.

  16. From the rough translation that was posted it appears that the 90 days in 6 months has been taken out.

If it is still there it would be take 6 entries to reach the max.

Extraordinarily stupid move! This will only hurt tourism and the economy more. Thailand's reputation as a tourist/expat friendly country is going down the drain. Hope that is civil enough for Thaivisa.

And, for the record, I do not have a visa problem, so this does not impact me personally.

I am afraid that our man from Bush country misses the point. Look about at the derelict farangs who misuse Thai hospitality and spend their time half drunk in the whore houses. These people are the target of the new regs and contrary to JR's theory, this new regulation will not hurt tourism and the economy at all. Thailand's reputation as a tourist/expat friendly country will not go down the drain as pathetically represented. The target population contributes little or nothing to the Thai standard of living. I think that the new regs are just fine and I hope that they accomplish their intent. And I also do hope that this was civil enought for Thaivisa.
