  1. Is there a reason why you are having a problem in making a decision ?

    Naka.

I am doing some freelance work and want to make a business out of it but also at the same time want to extend my stay in Thailand as long as possible. I figure I can work that one month on the extended TV with little risk therefore giving me 13 months. However, it is 1900 baht to extend the TV for just 1 month so maybe, at least money wise, it is better to go ahead and go to Penang and get the Non-B going.

Just looking for some advice. Extend current TV or go and get Non-B.

  2. Most of Samui is covered already in coconut trees that are very spread apart already and removing them doesn't really cause the water to change its course. Most of the jungle part of Samui was cut out a long time ago to make room for the coconut trees. If you go of shore on a boat and then look back at Samui it doesn't appear that a lot of trees have been removed.

I think it is, as Claude Feller so eloquently put, the channels that the rain water normally follow are stucked or diverted.

  3. I saw a Bentley on Samui yesterday. Driven by a farang.

The very first thought in my mind is "Why?" What drive a 6 million baht or more car on roads that will take it apart in no time?

Maybe just here for short time but I would have rented a jeep or something to get around in.

Or, as the saying goes, maybe he has more money than brains.

  4. I have a practically brand new NG60-Series telescope for sale. It is good as new. You can see the moons of Jupiter, the rings around Saturn and the moon looks amazing. If you can go up to a high place on a hill here and bring a star map you could make a whole night of it, I used to but now I am just too <deleted> bogged down with work to do it anymore and I hate to see it collecting dust. Asking 3,500 solid.

Also, I have a good as new waterproof metal detector. It is a Fisher 1280-X that can be taken under water (walking along the shore line or actually take it scuba diving). If you can find one gold ring then you'll be more than happy you ever bought it. Trouble is, I can't get the time to get out to the beach to find all the buried treasure that I know all tourists have lost while laying out on the beach! I would think a scan of the beach at Had Rin after a Full Party might give up some really nice prizes. It has fantastic sensitivity and discrimination controls. Asking 15,500 solid for this.

I do not want to ship off of Samui as I just do not trust the mail here especially with all the Christmas packages arriving and that is why I'm posting this here and not in the for sale section so mods please leave it here.

    PM me if interested.

I'm trying to put pics of these two things but when I upload the pics they don't show up. PM and I'll send the pics to you.

  5. Not on Samui, or in Surat. Take it to the Manufacturers repair center in Bangkok if you value the camera.

    Good luck

Hi, I just went to Tesco Lotus camera desk, to enquire about a still digital camera repair, only a minor repair too,,,, the assistant told me they could do,,, but they send to bangkok and she told me i takes 50 days to be returned,,, without any pre-estimate before it goes!!! I declined he offer,, likewise,, if any one else knows of a repair centre,,, i would be gratefull

How can a Thai person say all that with a straight face? "50 days and no pre-estimate". Do they not understand how rediculous that sounds? There is no way a Westerner would say that to another Westerner. At least not without a good explanation.

  6. Are there 2 ferry's now in Bang Rak? The Sea Trans and the Lompraya right? One (Sea Trans) leaves from the nice new brick pier closer to Big Buddha and the other (Lompraya) leaves off the older wooden pier just a little farther south (about half a kilometer or so). Do they go to the same places? I see a lot of people getting on the Lompraya one and it has the words Bangkok written on it so I assume it cruises all the way up there.

They are 2 different companies right?

  7. My one-year non-B with work permit is coming to an end on Nov. 10. I am in the works of creating a new company and getting a new non-B but the process is taking longer than I thought so I need some extra time to get that paperwork in order.

Can I go to immigration and extend my current Non-B visa (last visa run 3 months ago) for another month which will then give me enough time to get the paperwork in order for the year non-B that I want. Or can I let the Non-B expire and then get a free 30-day tourist visa?

    Thanks,

    PA

  8. A test is a test. The costs are just different at each hospital so why not go to the cheapest one? It's not like he's having a heart transplant in a back alley somewhere. Any of the 4 or 5 hospitals can do the test just fine but there are bid price differences. I know Bandon's is about 1500 while Thai Intl. is 700. Worth the 1/2 kilo trip to me.

Even if using rain coat still good to get tested.

Personally I like to give blood because you get a free test then plus you are helping someone out who needs blood.
