  1. Initially I chose many different avatars.

This one upset, PING, so much so I kept it., we have met IRL, beers and cheers....lol.

I enjoy looking arounhd the threads, so the photo-46648.gif?_r=1334490920 suits me fine....spying if ya like.

The laffs, fun, perverse senses of humour in TV make my day.

Many serious posts give one things to think about, whether one agrees or not, Outside The Box, especially.

If anyone needs a helping hand, I am willing to put in my piece for them to consider.

I've been to one TV BBQ, and met a few posters, had a member here for a year whilst he did cell tower installations in NZ.

TV will always be my time out place, something about most anything to peruse and relax.

    CHEERS ALL.

  2. Simple solution is to have unannounced stop work, boycot the airport.

Imagine plane loads of tourists having no transport, no way other than walking out of the airport where the transport, legal or illegal will be waiting.

Like everywhere in Thailand, it is greed.

Mainly, my guess, the so called management filling their back pockets with excessive 'tea monies'.

  3. This is an example of a man who would never have made it past the concierge's office if his papa was not an MP also.

I'm inclined to think you are probably right, although don't know enough about the achievements or lack thereof, of the individual concerned, to make that call with certainty.

It's an interesting observation anyway, when coming from the Yingluck rose to CEO and PM on her own merits brigade.

Nepotism rules in all S.E.A., include India too.

  4. Well, I think that is the point of the post. Both inappropriate actions but one gets pages of vitriolic abuse, the other silence.

Perhaps it escaped your attention, but the Yingluck using phone at funeral thread also got pages of justification and excuses.

From my point of view, the actions of both Yingluck and Nutt were disrespectful and deserve condemnation.

They both deserve warning, not condemnation.

Disagree. Yingluck deserves condemnation for not acting respectfully. How would she like it if she was dead and the people who came to pay their respects were all absorbed in updating their facebook pages? If i was dead and i saw people doing that at my funeral, i'd tell them to piss off back home and that i would go about the process of moving onto my next life by myself... obviously i would have to put them in their places via a clairvoyant...

Jokes aside, yes condemnation for her.

As for Nutt, he is being paid very well by all us tax payers, so fine, if he wants to titillate himself, do so on one of the many occasions when he skips off early for a game of golf, or when he is having an expensive meal on his expenses account with mates, don't do it when you are sitting in parliament pretending to work. Condemnation for him too.

Anyway, quite how you manage to warn people, with no element of condemnation present in the warning, i really don't know.

    This happens everywhere.

    Western countries inc, no exceptions.

Mobile phones a plague on society despite their amazing usefulness

  5. Old clapped out junk that you could easy buy for $500-$1000 in USA, Australia or Europe you have to pay $6000+ in Thailand.

This is pretty obiously it's call supply and demend.

In the 'west' you have generally weathier people, who have been told time and time again the new is better and they can afford it, so they buy new often, this leaves plenty of second hand cars in a devaluted market place for them.

In Thailand you have alot of people on very very very basic wages, they still need cars, most people can afford to purchase new ones, or even near new, they have to WAIT until it's been handed down 4-5 times before they can get move up from a motorbike.

So, Supply of Second hard cars is scarse (relavity) plus Demand for Second hard cards is high (relavity)... PUSHING up the prices!

If you look at the second hard market overall in Thailand is much higher for most products than the west.

    Please excuse my bad spelling.

New Zealand has a thriving used car import industry.

Mostly from Japan, initially, but also Sth Africa and Singapore, much more reasonably priced.

I always thought a similar thing in Thailand would rid the roads of clapped out heaps I see, as it did in NZ.

Also it kept new car dealers, and the used car industry honest.

The gummint still collected import taxes etc.

Mind you, NO cars are made in NZ, imports cheaper.

  6. Your wife is not alone.

My wife is Filipina, living in NZ. over 3 years, married 2 .

ALL her immediate family have green cards, parents and siblings, inc neices and nephew.

Last year, Nov, she applied for a visa to attend her sister's wedding.

She showed photos, marriage cerificate etc.

She has Visa Platinum CC, for what it is worth, to pay her way, a few grand in NZ and Pinas bank accouts.

The guy interveiwer, told her the wedding was a sham, she would NOT return..... <deleted>.

Next year she will ha NZ permanent residency, soon after a NZ passport, hopefully.

The US may still knock her back...... dunno.

    We will live in hope.

  7. Have to say, if they want to learn about customer service and how to deal with a crowd, then they should go to the Post Office on Tiwanon Road during the lunch period, take a ticket, every counter is staffed by friendly caring and patient staff and lways with a smile, numbers ticking over almost continuously. They churn out the goods for a huge lunchtime crowd of people trying to send parcels and post. Was truly a pleaseure to see something positive from a Thai authority.

Keep up the good work you postal workers of Tiwanon Road, I'll get the Immigration contract for you i promise!

That would be a good idea, no need for queueing, just watch for ya number coming up, be prepared.

    Good one

    Salinee Prab

    The Nation

PHUKET: -- The mobile Cabinet in Phuket yesterday approved 23 projects worth Bt628 million that can be developed immediately in five provinces along the Andaman coast.

The Cabinet also agreed on 117 proposals estimated at Bt84.06 billion for future development.

Of the 117 proposals, 10 encompass all the Andaman coastal provinces and cost Bt24.87 billion. The remainder are individual provincial projects costing a total of Bt59.26 billion, according to Prime Minister's Office deputy spokesperson Chalitrat Chandarubeksa.

A committee led by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra yesterday approved a three-year, Bt5.79-billion plan to increase the annual capacity of Phuket's airport to 12.5 million passengers. The committee also proposed a dual-track railway between Bangkok and the Malaysian border town of Padang Besar that will cost around Bt20 billion, according to Bloomberg.

A proposed rail route along the Andaman coast, valued at Bt58 billion, is also being studied by the Cabinet, said Payungsak Chartsutipol, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries.

There are 67 projects proposed for Phuket worth Bt47.68 billion. Phang Nga has 13 projects worth Bt3.82 billion, Krabi has 10 worth Bt3.49 billion, Trang gets six worth Bt334 million and Ranong has 11 worth Bt3.99 billion.

On the 23 projects slated for immediate start-up, the Cabinet ordered that plans be hurriedly drawn up and presented to the Budget Bureau within two weeks.

The projects include a pier for tourist businesses at Khao Yao, Phang Nga,

worth Bt30 million; tourist destination development on Trang's Sukorn Island at Bt25.94 million; tourist security promotion in Phuket worth Bt25.37 million and water management to serve tourists in Ranong worth Bt20 million. They total Bt101.31 million.

Another immediate project is for construction of a Bt25-million "monkey cheek" reservoir in Phuket to solve the island's water shortage. There's also a water pipeline from Baan Bang Jo to Phuket International Airport worth Bt24.84 million and a marine traffic light system costing Bt17.30 million. Bt9.11 million will be spent on conservation and development of the Baan Phraya Wichit Songkram historical site. Road spending includes Bt20 million on improvements to Chao Fa Road and Bt17 million for a system to monitor traffic speed limits.

As far as Chalong, it would be a brilliant addition to Phuket's economical and tourism developement.

Flat all the way just about, not much in the way of big earthworks.

    Gofrit, I reckon.

  9. I had a problem with my contacts getting spam stuff from my Hotmail account, NOT sent by myself.

It went on for a week or so, nuthing I did stopped it.

Suddenly, my account was blocked by Hotmail.

Boy was I psssst off no end.

2 frustrating nites later, lo and behold, it was up and running again.

Apparently, somehow Hotmail had found out, shut me down, changed some co-ordinates or something and put my account up again.

I was intructed to change my username and password, which naturally I did.

    All has been great since.

    BIG THANK YOU Hotmail.

  10. The biggest addition to the rail would be a safe and fair taxi and tuk-tuk service.

People are sick of being victims of the local mafia.

Obviously the local police must be in cohorts, getting tea monies or it would not tolerate the mafia's tactics.

Polititions are apparently too scared to do anything by intimidation.

  11. These shows both lead and reflect currents of concern among the populace. They do not exist in a vacuum. The Thai people seem generally reticent to voice their own opinions openly, so perhaps these shows, of hugely varying quality, give them some outlet for their frustrations.

I agree, possibly they may open up and, advance, voice their opinions more..

    Something that is needed,

Thais are too much like lemmings.
