  1. I had a problem with my contacts getting spam stuff from my Hotmail account, NOT sent by myself.

It went on for a week or so, nuthing I did stopped it.

Suddenly, my account was blocked by Hotmail.

Boy was I psssst off no end.

2 frustrating nites later, lo and behold, it was up and running again.

Apparently, somehow Hotmail had found out, shut me down, changed some co-ordinates or something and put my account up again.

I was intructed to change my username and password, which naturally I did.

    All has been great since.

    BIG THANK YOU Hotmail.

  2. The biggest addition to the rail would be a safe and fair taxi and tuk-tuk service.

People are sick of being victims of the local mafia.

Obviously the local police must be in cohorts, getting tea monies or it would not tolerate the mafia's tactics.

Polititions are apparently too scared to do anything by intimidation.

  3. These shows both lead and reflect currents of concern among the populace. They do not exist in a vacuum. The Thai people seem generally reticent to voice their own opinions openly, so perhaps these shows, of hugely varying quality, give them some outlet for their frustrations.

I agree, possibly they may open up and, advance, voice their opinions more..

    Something that is needed,

Thais are too much like lemmings.

  4. Next step, work towards a quality, accessible education system, where students compete academically on a level playing field according to their abilities, not the ability of their parents to pay tea money for admission.

    Totally agree.

"Dhurakij Pundit University president Dr Varakorn Samakoses said such a policy could encourage corruption and give schools the chance to favour the rich."

But then, it is only perpetuating what already is the practice.

  5. Leaving the meeting, Yingluck appeared slightly confused when asked if the

Cabinet gave the green light to separate military plans to buy the German

    submarines and US-made Blackhawk helicopters.

Reckon Yingluk wants to sette border dispute with Cambodia once and for ever.

  6. LIK if you like that view you might try the Tamarind Bar which is just down the way from The Lighthouse.

I like to pull up there for sunset cocktails after work and see people eating what looks to be some pretty good food. I asked a guy once and of course he said "the food here's great" but what else would you say when you are sitting there with a plate having just arrived.......("no the food here is terrible and I'm an idiot?"). Anyway, FYI.

Not been to Chalong for over 12 months, but Tamarind has always been superb.

    I recommend it whole heartedly.

  7. Too hot.

Would rather have dramatic brooding skys with some rain (for the garden).

Surely we'll get enough of that Sept-Oct.

My garden needs water now, not in Sept-Oct.

You don't have to water, Sept-Oct?

What happens if rains do not come, dry up....HUH?

  8. OP, Ta for that.

We are flying AKL_SIN_MNL, in 4 days.

    JetStar, cheapies......LOL

Mind you we will only have cabin baggage, 7kgs each, heaps.

We travel lite, very lite, but will make sure we are OK.

I normally wear a volumous jacket, heavyarticles stuffed in pockets, missus, ditto.

Many years travelling AirAsia We used one bag, under 15kgs, never a prob if ever over.

Once at Swampy, the check in giel asked If I would like to take 2 kgs out.

No prob, just carried in handbags....AirAsia staff.

  9. TAT always good for a laugh.

I suppose it is "The Most Amazing Show on Earth", where else could you go, and see people laying siege to the main shopping area of a capital for three months, then burn it down, or alternatively see another group of morond lay seige to the airport for two weeks.

Throw in jet ski scams, dodgy taxis, corrupt police,, King Power scams, duel pricing, numerous unexplained deaths, "suicides", muggings, theft etc, etc and it's pretty impressive

Hitting the nail on the head, love it.

  10. All very well and good.

I bet the local mafia and crooked taxi owners are rubbing their hands in glee.

Phuket Airport, starting point for tourists being ripped off.

Something concrete in sorting out taxis and tuk tuk fares would be great for the island's reputation when people return home.

    Pigs mite fly first.

  11. They are not LOSING 100 mill bht, only losing what they got for free in the first place.

You pay for opening an account, virtually get no interest, pay for an atm card, pay to close an account, pay yearly fees for having your account.

What do you get in return--NOWT. All they get is what I mentioned, plus OUR MONEY they keep and use to lend others at a rate of borrowing 10% + They have a nerve.

How long have they been charging at a.t.m.? they should have quite a bit of revenue from it. Now they say they are going to lose money.. A JOKE April 1st early

Where you come from ? you sure in your country the banks are free of charge ? in Italy and in all other countries from my experience banks are a pain. So before speak like many other how shit is this or that in Thailand check your home country and much more if you don't like what they do here why you are here ? why you not go back home and make this place free of people like you ? Too many users here only like to speak bad about Thailand but still always here, live here and spend money here so why speak ? Shut up is better or if you are a man go back home and live in your country.

This comment is for everyone who usually speak bad about this and that but still live here. Is really annoying to read every time always the same shit from people who live here but usually speak bad about this place. There isn't a perfect country where to live so if you are here respect where you are and their rules or go back home.

In NZ, there are bank accounts that do NOT charge any basic fees, ATMs etc..

    Conditions apply(sic) as is normal.

Stick within the rules and your banking is free.

Main condition, if any, seems to be a minimum balance, which many low earners may have trouble keeping.

If your superanuation is direct credited, no fees apply.

Cross bank transactions, like other bank ATMs can incur 120 Baht fee, NZ$6.00, extortionate.

Use your own bank ATMs, no problem.

Withdraw cash at supermarkets, no charge.

    Check everything.
