18 hours ago, Thainess said:They should extend the ban forever. Introduce permanent alcohol prohibition. Thailand is a Buddhist country and Buddhists aren't supposed to drink alcohol. If alcoholic westerners can't do without their drug fix, they can move to Cambodia or Vietnam instead. The quality of western tourists in Thailand will then increase massively.
Can we have a self-righteous busy body prohibition too? If you don't like alcohol why don't YOU move....to Saudi Arabia?

In theory an alcohol ban was probably a good idea, but in practice everybody knows what is going to happen, a lot of dry citizens are going to be buying alcohol like there is no tomorrow when the ban is finally lifted. There will be belated parties, friends meeting up and drinking a skinfull and basically making up for lost time. Whereas if there hadn't been a ban in the first place people would have just have carried on as normal and just enjoyed a quiet drink at home.
Yes, it was very kind of them to announce the ban the day before so that everyone could go out and bulk buy.

Not that i trust China more but both sides got something to gain from this so i doubt that either rapport is without bias.
Of course the US has an agenda to increase its power. But would you rather live in a world dominated by the US or one dominated by a communist dictatorship?
China poses a very real threat to everyone, and the world needs to wake up to it.

Nothing irresponsible about it. The flights are allowed. People are checked. People are quarantined when they arrive.
If the authorities thought it was that big of a risk, there wouldn't be any flights - period. In or out. Period. Other countries would ban anyone from arriving, like Thailand did. But they haven't (as clearly demonstrated).
And if you believe all those people clamouring for extensions are doing it because they are scared to fly - you need to spend more time reading threads in the Visa and Immigration forum.
It is a joke how many people want everyone to believe that all those people are "real" tourists though.
Wow...you really have a chip on your shoulder!
Whether they are real tourists or not, the safest and most responsible thing to do is stay put. Your GF has put people at risk. Maybe there are compelling reasons for her to do so, but the fact is she would be in a far better position morally if she had stayed in Thailand.
Maybe the sack of potatoes currently on your person is blinding the obvious.

DEPARTING THAILAND
• Lufthansa: Bangkok – Frankfurt, 3x per week (Monday; Thursday; Saturday)
• Qatar Airways : Bangkok - Doha, Daily operating until 20 April (Qatar is still flying almost everywhere, including Europe, on a daily basis)
• KLM : Bangkok to Amsterdam, 2x per week (Monday; Saturday)
• EVA Airways: Bangkok to London-Heathrow, 4x per week (Sunday; Tuesday; Wednesday; Friday)
• Korean Airlines : Bangkok - Seoul, Daily (connecting flights to various Canadian and US cities from there via Delta Airlines and Air Canada).
And my (Thai) g/f made it back to Germany with no problems yesterday. She flew Qatar Air from Bangkok to Doha and then another Qatar flight to Berlin.
If she can do it I'm sure that pretty much every other "tourist" could do the same. You know, if they really are "tourists" and really are trying to get home.
So in your eyes, the bad guys are the people who dont want to travel in the middle of a once in 100 years pandemic. Whether it is because they are in a high risk group and could die, or because they may unknowingly be/get infected and dont want to pass it on to others, they should be condemned.
The good guys in your book are those that travel in the middle of a pandemic, not only risking their own safety but also potentially spreading death to others by their actions and helping to perpetuate the mess we are currently in.
Ever heard the phrase people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones?
If you want to get judgey then maybe you should look at the irresponsible actions of your GF before pointing the finger at people who just want to stay put and stay healthy until the whole thing blows over.

All these people here on "Tourist Visas" who don't seem to be making ANY effort to fly home.
Almost as though they were living here and not just visiting. Little wonder they are clamouring for (free) 3 month extensions instead of trying to get home.
After all, there are PLENTY of flights still leaving the country. The ban is on people flying INTO Thailand. Not leaving it.
The Canadian Embassy has been sending out emails noting the different airlines that have flights out (where connections can be made to Canada, i.e. Lufthansa to Frankfurt then to Canada).
As well, other airlines are still arriving and picking up people. They arrive empty and leave with as many as they can carry (that have tickets obviously).
My g/f flew out of Suvarnabhumi this morning on Qatar Air, which apparently has 1 or 2 flights a day out of Thailand. She should already be on her connecting flight from Doha to Berlin as we speak (or type).
Oh right. I forgot. It's not about getting home. It's about scamming the system to stay here longer (for free). And then bitching about how the government is treating them.
Airports and planes are pretty high on my list of places I would avoid in the middle of a pandemic.

That is not quite clear - and highlights the problem with throwing in this fixated 26th March date into the mix since most people get 30 days on entry then 8th March might have been more appropriate
In answering your question - a visit to Immigration may be required as you are outside the date (26th) specified
The 26th refers to when the visa expires doesn't it? Anyone whose visa expired on the 26th right the way up to 30 April gets auto extension.

So, official policy is for hundreds of thousands of people's visas to all expire on the same day?

Why not just suspend visa expiration dates indefinitely until the crisis is under control without any need to extend at an office?
Forcing people into crowds is insane atm.

What is the logic behind making non tourist visa holders get a letter from their embassy?
We have been told not not travel around unless necessary, yet they want us to travel to the embassy potentially passing on/ picking up the disease for a letter that won't prove anything anyway.

Dear oh dear. The things people do.
i'm a dual Oz-UK citizen and still have my (expired) UK passport, it's tucked away in my sock drawer and since the Brexit vote i've felt a mild sense of shame for even keeping the thing but re-cycling that once-respected document as an album for my theme-park novelty stamp collection? Brilliant! Thanks Tina Sibley.
Now ... where did i leave that Sanrio Puroland brochure?
Maybe UK passports should include the following...'All UK passports will be withdrawn from selfrighteous, sore losers who cannot stop moaning about Brexit'.
You could always use it to wipe your tears about Brexit.

It's more then clear that conservative Western powers are using the main stream media to incute scare and hate against China and of course the US red hat folk, or France La Pen black jacket supporters or the Italian right wing league Salvinis or the blue conservative Brexiters which a good share does not even know difference between Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, 'drugged' by the heavy scare brain wash virus news, they trow their paranoia on racist violence on anyone that may look like what the media told them their are the "Enemy" .
It is not different for almost 60 and over years a go in US the Black man hunt who was accused to steal, kill and rape white people or after US and European Communist and Anarchic witch hunt, now things are changed, who is scaring the big powers, of course China, so a flu become a very dangerous deadly virus, and almost every day we read of racist violence against innocent people.
Well done white man, make your self white again !Ask yourself who is a bigot!
The race of the perps in the article was not mentioned, yet you rant about white supremacy!

I have heard from someone who recently got back from Savannaket that the consulate there is being inundated with applicants and are being unreasonably picky to change their reputation as an easy place to get a visa.
Lots of people were being refused and the staff were very rude.

You are comparing someone who entered via an airport with a valid visa, with a group of people who had previously been denied entry and illegally crossed over the border via a ditch.
