  1. Does anyone know the current point system for PR under Working/Business Category? I found some information here under the marriage category, but it's not relevant to me (married only 3 years and no kids, I understood it's easier to apply under the working/business in my case).

I'm planning to hand in my application in December this year (December because my non-B visa was issued 1st Dec 2010). To my understanding the point system will have the following:

    • Age
    • Personal Income / Tax paid for last 3 years
    • Education
    • Years on the same visa
    • Thai Language

Did I miss something? IF the point system is somewhat similar to what it is under the marriage category some years ago I should score full points with the first 2, but then it gets slowly worse. I got Bachelor degree which was 8/15 pts on the scale I saw earlier, years on the same visa and work permit would be 9 which to my understanding is pretty low and Thai language, well I got some time to improve I can get by in normal conversation as long it's not some dialect, but my reading is very slow and writing close to zero.

I'm wondering if I should apply now or give it another year as I'm currently finishing my masters degree so then I would have couple of extra points for that as well as 1 more year on the visa to make it to 10 and some time to improve my Thai and perhaps even learn to sing the national anthem.

Any and all advice highly appreciated!

  2. Yes, if you are not married, then under the current rules you need to get PR first, (which currently seems to take a very long time).

Were you planning on gaining citizenship in this life or the next?  biggrin.png

ok reading the docs... Im not married but I am a guardian of Thai girl by court decision so looks like that will do.

Im only 36 now so Im planning to get it done this life.

  3. Planning to give it ago with that citizenship, and found this service: http://thailandvisanow.com/thai-citizenship.html

Does anyone have any experiences, successful and/or failed ones, would be interested to know.

Understanding that it is a bit of advertisement site for their services, but it does requirement vice very easy indeed. What is the waiting time now?

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Qualifications for EXPEDITED Citizenship:
    • Applicant must have been living Thailand for at least 3 consecutive years
    • Applicant must have been employed and paying tax for at least 3 consecutive years
    • Applicant must be married to Thai citizen
    • Applicant must have full legal status to be in Thailand and have a current Thai Visa
    • Applicant must show good moral behavior with no criminal convictions
    • Applicant must have minimal Thai language skills (we will assist you with this)

Regarding this bit I do tick all the boxes except the marriage one, but then they say:

If you are NOT married to a Thai citizenship, but have been in Thailand for an extended period of time, we can still get you Thai Citizenship.

I've been here around 9 years now so im hoping that is counted as extended period?

Is there other companies offering the same service that i should look into?

  4. Don't see your problem. Presumably you have ONE Person fronting up to hand over the paper-work?

That being the case, your Rep is just like any of the rest of us, who take our Numbers and wait our turn to do a SINGLE Report.

Why should WE be inconvenienced and held-up while people such as yourself try to do "X-Number" of transactions?

I for one, applaud the move by CNX Immigration. Sorry "Ozz1" but welcome to the Real World, where ALL are Created Equal.

I will also be in contact with the Immigration Office, to congratulate them on this move and I urge ALL other fair-minded members to do the same.

We Stand in line and take our turn and don't need to suffer from Queue-Jumpers.

So you think sending 10 people from the office everyone carrying someone's else application is somehow better than one person doing them all. You do realise how small that immigration building is... its already over crowded and there are people doing more important stuff than our 90 reports, no need for us to take 5 sqm of that floor space when it can be done by one person.

Anyway I totally forgot there is mailing option so the problem is solved we want take even that space of 1 person =)

  5. Hello,

For past years we have smoothly always send someone from our office to do 90 days reports to all farangs at office which is around 30 now. Today CM immigration told us that we need power of attorney + we can only do 1 one a day!!! the POA is no problem as we can just make one template and get people to sign that whenever needed, but 1 at the time.... we normally do extensions and everything as many as possible at the time to avoid too many visits there.

Have anyone else heard about this? Could it be that it was bad day (Monday) and tomorrow you can do 10 at the time and no POA needed again??

    Edit: one a day!

  6. That's really Ban Phe rather than Rayong (City). You'll really need transport to get out and about, although there are 3 wheel-motorbike taxis around. You'll be 15mins drive from the Samet ferry, 30 mins to Makro in Rayong (for your coffee beans). There's several bars in the stretch of beach road you're on, Purple Haze being one to check. And go through Ban Phe town and out the beach road to the East is a really nice French (Belgian) bar/bistro "Moka" along there.

Thank you for the info.... hmm this raises another question. Where should I rent motorbikes and possible car down there? Or should i send few bikes from here to there in post?

  7. half of our office (around 20 people) will escape the CM Smokey Season this year and we will evacuate to Rayong. From 20th March to 20th April our temporary office will be at New World Condotel > https://www.google.com/maps/place/New+World+Condotel/@12.6123156,101.3838484,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xf2a2599f62299123

With no previous experiences on Rayong and the area where this Condo is located I have a punch of questions.

    1) Internet:
Apparently they condo has no internet what so ever (hard to believe) but this is what they say, so I need some sort of connections. As we only month there we cant get optics or adsl installed but have to work with 3G, who has the best 3G coverage on that area? TOT/CAT/True ??

    2) Coffee:
we probably bring our own grinder and coffee machine with us as well as few kilo's of beans, but incase we run out of beans where can we buy some more at Rayong this is very important as without coffee there will be no work done =)

    3) Restaurants/coffee shops/super markets nearby:

Any restaurants near the condo which you would recommend.

    4) Furniture shop:

We probably need to buy some tables and chairs for working, something that we will not take with us after month so the cheaper the better, any ideas on this?

    5) Experiences of the New World Condotel

Anyone staying there? hows the services, pool, gym?

    6) Other activities

What should we do on the freetime is there something worth of seeing, how far is the boat harbour to go to Samet? is samet ok again or is it still covered by oil?

Thank you tons for any help!

  8. I got termite problem in office and need to get the parquet sprayed and fixed.

Any recommendations for companies.. if there is one company doing both great, but I assume its 2 different companies.

There is total just under 200 sqm of parquet but I think about 4-5 sqm needs replacing... then sanding and then finishing...

Any recommendations, also any idea what kind of price tag I am looking at.

  9. Hi there,

I tried to search this forum but with no luck. Whats the list of documents needed in Viantiane for non B.

I tried to ask from immigration in CM, but they have no idea nor does BOI office.

I got 2 years old list from Viantiane and that time I applied without BOI so slightly different and even then it changed 2 times within month period (the required documents I mean).

One stop service in BKK is no use either as they said we need to have non B first before they can help (extensions).

Is there bullet proof updated list somewhere?

  10. That all largely depends on the work description that has been given.

For business meetings it should not be a problem, but supervising in another office that would need to be stated in the work permit. If it only states you work at the company offices, that is not enough.

I would let the company contact the One Stop Service now they received BOI certification, they are there to help.

I should have been perhaps a bit more clear but Im the director and main share holder of the company so when you say they (for the company) I feel a bit guilty...

    one stop service: http://www.thaivisa.com/359.0.html

The One-Stop Service Center is located at -

    Chamchuri Square

    Floor 18

    319 Phaya Thai Rd.

    Patumwan

    Bangkok 10330

this one in Bangkok? does anyone know about the one stop service for BOI ? it seems like that link there is not working.

  11. Hello all,

I got a question about work permit and the location in general. I have WP that states my office address, so what im allowed / not allowed to do outside of my office.

    - Am I allowed to have business meeting in Coffee shop down the street?

    - Can I fly to have business meeting in BKK (my office is in Chiang Mai)?

    - Can I go and do consulting work on my clients office for a day / week / month?

    - How about partner companies? We have project we work together with other Thai companies, am I allowed to stay in their office and supervice the project?

    Whats the deal?

Another Questions If I have a longer contract with my client within Thailand, could I apply for another address to be added to the work permit?

Sorry there is a lot of questions here, but just want to get general idea when Im breaking the rules and when not and if there is actually anyway to do any of the stuff above legally.

If it does change anything my company just received BOI certification and we will have more farangs than thais in the office so these questions are not just for me but for the future employees as well.

  12. I also have related question. I received my Boi approval and im currently on non b visa should i changed it to ib?

Also how about my new employees, im hiring some falangs under the boi should we apply ib or b or something else to them? What kind of paperwork is needed?

No. No need to change anything. A visa is a permit to travel to Thailand, you are already in Thailand and have the proper paperwork to get an extension of stay and work permit.

New employees would get a non-B visa. But basically they apply for a non-immigrant visa and the consulate decides which type of visa they will grant, for work that is normally the "B" category.

Well my current business visa and work permit is based on the 4to1 rule where I have to hire 4 thais for 1 falang. This is no longer the case with BOI so can I now fire the thai's or will that effect my current status as the visa & wp was received before BOI? If I would change the visa & wp or apply under the BOI scheme then I can... i guess.
