  1. 98% of the geriatics on the Pattaya forum are primarly interested in sex...thats the reason they moved to Pattaya in the first place... .Yes I know you moved to Pattaya for the culture and the temples...whistling.gif

  2. We went in a party of 4 and were not impressed with the food - the ribs were about the worst I have tasted

Okay, then it wasn't just me - I had the ribs as well and mine was probably the worse I have ever had as well. My friend ordered the haddock with pasta and it was un-eatable - he took three bites and couldn't eat no more. Our other friends had the salmon and they did eat it, but were not impressed.

Again I like the place and it has potential, but he better get a chef on board fast!!!

  3. A new restaurant on 62/147 Moo 12, Thepprasit Soi 8, Pattaya. This is what they said on their website:

From across the world to across the street, blue Olive Modern Mediterranean restaurant brings you a sincere commitment to service; the finest quality meats, seafood, and produce; and tantalizing wines and cocktails.

Offering flavors of Canada, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Greece and Thailand, we invite you to come and enjoy small plates for one, dinner for two, or a banquet for your group.

We went there last week, location a bit out of the way, but the decor and the space is quite nice. We were a bit disappointed with our foods (all 5 five of us) which took overly long to be delivered to our table, but maybe it was an off night as it was only his 1st week open.

Only open for dinner and reservation can be done online - would love to hear your comments please.

OP: can I post their website here?

  4. Farung I meant to say and I'm near

  5. Can anyone recommend a good, hardworking, reliable cleaning person, preferably a woman - to work full time cleaning rooms (apartment) located in Jomtien?

Please pm me with info (Name and phone).

    Thank you.

    w.

  6. A foreigner cannot own a house (on the ground) - I think you meant to say you both own an apartment in your names (two people). If this is true - you can get a Non-O for your partner based on owning a condo in Thailand from the Thai Consulate in Brisbane, Australia. I've been doing to for the past 3 years - but now I'm on retirement :-).

Good luck and here is their address: 87 Annerley Road

  7. Must be the slowest time of the year on Thaivisa if this thread is considered at "Hot" topic.

BTW: To give credit where credit is due, Foodmart now has an excellent bread and pastry section with most if not all of the towns top bakeries represented. Also has a great "all natural" yogurt that is hard to find elsewhere.

Hot topic... he he!! I haven't been back since I posted this thread - Rude service, and plain lazy and non-motivated employees are a big turn off - apparently the Australian Mgr doesn't really care!!

  8. It should not be a problem but if Bangkok they may ask you to go downstairs to update at branch bank there.

Thank you all for your replies. Yes I put my money with Bangkok Bank (Orange book) - and Yes they will automatically roll over when the 7 month expires and yes it will be the same account.

My worry is that when the time come that I need a copy of my bank book with the current status as I have had no activity there it won't record a change with the current date. What if on the same day, I put more money into this account? Can this be done?

I will be doing my renewal at the Jomtien immigration.

  9. I know this topic has been discussed many times before but I just want to be sure. My friend has been using a regular savings account to keep his 800K baht for his annual renewal of his retirement visa.

Last December he moved this money into a 7 month time deposit interest earning acct. This will expire in June. His retirement visa expires August 6th. If this money rolls over into another 3 months interest earning account - will this qualify for having had a minimum of 800K for 3 months previous to renewal? Technically this money will still be in the same account with the same account number/book. Is this correct?

If the above is correct, can he just leave this money in this account to continually roll over every 3 months year after year - as he doesn't really need the money for other purposes?

    Thank you for your replies.

  10. My Passport is currently being processed in Bangkok applying for a visa to another country and will be ready next week. However today I need a letter of residence from Thai Immigration here in Jomtien.

Can I use a copy of the signature/photo page of my passport or do I also need a copy of my TM card and Retirement Visa page?

I have a copy of the signature page but not the TM card and Retirement Visa page :-(.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

  11. I don't like double pricing either.... but I don't think it's racism.... Now when a foreigner works for a Thai Company say as a Teacher.... I wonder if he complaints when he is getting paid more than double his Thai counterpart? :whistling:

  12. Typical know it all foreigner.....rather than look for yourself or take the girls word, you prefer to argue......personally, I think its a great shop, everyone smiles, are all helpful and whoever makes those bears claws definatly gets a thumbs up from me, thay are the best thing I have tasted in years

Did you get on the wrong side of the bed this morning :bah: Which part of the story you need explanation? It's about service and attitude. In case you don't know, a supermarket is a service-oriented industry. So please don't tell me you accept these kind of lazy and I-don't-care attitude!! It's got nothing to do with with a know it all foreigner..... capish??? ;)

  13. >>but for some reason the taco shells were not on the same shelves or anywhere near for that matter.<<

I WOULD GUESS THAT THEY REALLY WERE OUT OF STOCK !!1

thaifan... I CAN HEAR YOU JUST FINE.... CAN YOU HEAR ME????? :whistling: - You'd guessed wrong!! They're not out of stock!!.... finally after arguing with her she pointed me to another employee (a man) and he found it in a different isle on the shelves

  14. So I was in a hurry and asked my friend to wait out by the parking lot whilst I ran inside to get a package of taco seasoning and a box of taco shells. I found the taco seasoning, no problem but for some reason the taco shells were not on the same shelves or anywhere near for that matter.

I checked a few more isles and still couldn't find it. But then I saw an employee (a girl) and showed her the taco sesoning package with pictures of the taco shells.

Pointing to the picture, I said "Where can I find this taco shells". She looked at me with a blank stare and said "No Have!"

I then replied "how can you say NO Have when you haven't even looked for it?"

With a little sinister smile she then replied "I am busy"........:lol::D:lol:

  15. Yes of course Govt. Hospital should be much cheaper... I took a friend to Queen Sirikit hospital in Sattahip. It's a good 45 minutes drive from Pattaya and depending on what time of the day and how busy it happens to be when you get there - it may take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to see the doctor. Also takes longer to get the result - I would advise you go there with someone who speaks Thai. I am happy to say I am in a position to pay a little more for the convenience of a local private hospital.

  16. in the past 3 years I have had 4 x-rays done at BPH:

    1. Chest X-ray to check if I had TB - X-ray cost about 600 baht

    2. Finger, Toe and upper arms (3 x-rays) - to check if I have athritis - Cost 3,000 baht

If you see a doctor there, you will also need to pay Doctor visit about 600 to 800 baht. + 150 nurse fee :-)

  17. There is always a market for a good looking young white male in the modelling industry here in S.E Asia including Bangkok - but remember the pay scale will be much lower than in a developed country. Good look is a big plus, but more importantly it's who you know - as you said you know a well known agent here in Bangkok already so that's a GOOD start. My opinion is go ahead and try it - be sure when you start working that you have a work permit. If it doesn't work out you can always go back home and start something new. Good luck!!!! ;)
