Some people really have no idea about COPD and how it affects most sufferers. 

Having been seriously ill for the past few months with pneumonia on top of my advanced COPD I’ve either been in hospital or housebound. 
But this past week I’ve been feeling a lot better so we decided to try going out for the first time in many a week so off to Robinsons. Very easy to access in the wheelchair from the carpark as were Amazon, the ATM and all the other outlets inside so full marks. 

So we then thought about lunch in one of our regular cafes we used to visit and came to the conclusion that not one of them was wheelchair friendly in the slightest. Most of them had at least 2 steps to climb, when fit and able they pose no problem whatsoever and it never enters your head they they would be a problem but suddenly when even 1 step is your nemesis getting into them becomes a major headache. And even if getting up them it still means leaving the wheelchair outside which isn’t a sensible idea. At one there are no steps but you would need to push the wheelchair over a lot of mini pebbles which isn’t the easiest of things to do. But not one of them has a ramp of any description for people like me. As I say it never enters your head until it does become a problem and then well it means not getting in without a lot of difficulty.

I can probably walk 10-20 paces unaided  but even just 1 step becomes a major obstacle, it’s not the lifting of the foot but pushing yourself up with other that is. Hopefully in the future I might overcome this but currently there are now a lot of places that are simply unavailable to me and those like me and I would really love to get back into those cafes where we were once regular customers. 

What absolute nonsense steven100, perhaps you might like to send me a cyanide pill and I’ll put myself out of YOUR misery. Now get back on with your life of misery and I’ll continue trying to get the best out of mine. 

Whenever I contact Santander to transfer to Wise or just to check my accounts they always send me an sms to confirm it’s me if I use a vpn. If not on a vpn then I get connected with no problem so I assume they can detect if a vpn is being used and are just using extra security to check it’s me.

I did consider a rollator some months ago but went for a wheelchair instead but apart from the malls there are limited options for its use. Just like yesterday when visiting a new and still being finished floral park there was absolutely no sign of any facilities at all for anyone other than the fit and able. And is it just here in KPP that both Big C and Robinsons malls while being wheelchair friendly have no sitting areas whatsoever apart from the places to eat of which there are plenty, why not a few seats simply placed around the malls for those that need a rest occasionally. 

I’m getting to the stage where getting out and about is very difficult, not a disability problem but a breathing one, some days I can walk a hundred yards before needing a rest and others ten steps sees me struggling. Slopes and steps are now my mortal enemy, I do have a wheelchair but there are many instances where a wheelchair is unable to be used such as today when visiting a newly opened floral park. Very uneven and soft ground simply not suitable but perhaps a walking stick might be of benefit. Any stick users offer any advice?

Sadly one of my wife’s cousins is an early number in the statistics already, and yes alcohol was the culprit but luckily no one else was involved. Now we have around a 7 hour drive tomorrow to attend the cremation on Saturday and hopefully we won’t be added to the statistics. 

My current Ray Ban glasses are around 5 years old, top quality lens and my eyesight still excellent and no new prescription needed but yesterday noticed the plastic on the arms where it bends around the ears was breaking off and actually scratched my ear. So this morning into K Optics where my wife got excellent service when getting her first glasses a few months ago. 
 

Showed the boss my problem and he immediately started trying to find some plastic covers but couldn’t find any that would fit, so he sent his assistant into the back shop and a few minutes later he emerged with around a dozen complete sets of frames with me fully expecting the sales speel but to my surprise he started taking them all to pieces. He placed them all around my existing frames and asked which ones I liked, I chose a pair of arms, he then took my specs to pieces then sterilised all the old parts, put everything back together but with the new arms on them, told me to try and a perfect and comfortable fit. 
 

My wife asked how much to pay and he replied with no charge at all just pleased to help. Being there 2 of them and near lunchtime my wife gave them 100 baht each and thanked them profusely. We were there around 90 minutes and he still had to put all these other frames back together again. Excellent service and I know where I will go or recommend to others in the future. 

Let them go and simply don’t let them back, how difficult is it. 

Not embarrassing at all, I simply read that as 28th November so those with small brains and probably other parts too and gigantic ego’s might simply point out what it means rather trying to belittle someone for a change.
