  1. You sure can get the visa, but the real question is; Can you use it?

It's been reported that immigration computer system gives an alert after the 4th extension on tourist visa then you get Spanish inquisition

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/892601-problem-at-bkk-airport-multiple-entry-tourist-visa/

That is the one and only report of that and appears to be an immigration offices giving false info.

I think there is always a risk of being questioned by immigration if you are using a lot of tourist visas back to back. However, If you can explain that you are a genuine tourist who is just staying a long time then I do not think there will be a problem.

Really most immigration officers are helpful and do not want to cause you any problems, unless they have reason to suspect that you are here to work.

  2. The trouble is that they initially sent a load of police round to the bridge event and now somebody feels the need to justify that decision.

If alcohol was on sale then that changes the whole thing and it cannot be described as a bunch of pensioners getting together to play bridge, if however the pensioners brought their own alcohol and no alcohol was on sale then common sense says they were doing nothing wrong.

  3. I got mine this year, I think you need the proper 5 year licence and then its quite easy in Chiang Mai.

You will need your proof of residence, unless you have a work permit of tabien ban that will mean a residence letter from immigration or embassy/consulate.

However, I must say that in my travels I have not needed an IDP in Australia,USA, UK or anywhere in SE Asia when using my Thai licence. In fact the only country I ever needed the IDP was Japan, other countries seem happy that the Thai licence has everything of interest in English except your address which is only written in Thai on the licence.

  4. Perhaps this would be a case where paying an immigration "fixer" a processing fee to get this application through. I don't mean a bribe, I mean one of the visa services that have ways of doing things that mere mortals can't.

Do you seriously believe that using any of these "fixer" services does not involve a bribe being paid to obtain the desired result?

The whole point of these services is that they pay the bribe for you.

I considered the Visa services but thought the 25,000 baht fee was rather rich.

I could rent out another place to stay for that amount easily.

I used Assist Thai Visa service in Chiang Mai for my visa change and it was more like 5k all in.

  5. Certainly the process is much more lenient when buying a new vehicle via a dealer, I have used a copy of a residence certificate via a dealer where a genuine certificate is required if you go to the office yourself.

Also, the residency certificate is only good for 30 days or so, but it ALWAYS takes more then 30 days before the vehicle is registered so even if you supply a residency certificate it will have expired before the actual registration.

  6. If someone is accused of theft or fraud everyone agrees that they deserve a fair trial, but when sex offences against children are involved its seems that many people feel a trial is unessesary.

Also.. and I know many people will hate me for saying this. K11 is an area of PP that has long been known for having brothels full of children working as prostitutes. Its one thing to target the punters (and its right and proper that the punters should be prosecuted for their crimes) but why not put an equal amount of effort into preventing the crime in the first place by closing the brothels and prosecuting the people who pimp kids for a living.

  7. Its actually very easy and I have done this before myself.

There are two forms that you can collect from Land Transport office, both need the owner to sign (either post the forms or use your imagination). After the seller has signed all you need in the event that the owner has left Thailand is a copy/scan of the passport and a scan/copy of the exit stamp showing that the foreigner has left the country.

If you have the copy of exit stamp no proof of address is required. No letter from consulate, not letter from immigration.

I know this for certain because I have done it myself and assisted another person with the same issue.
