The wall will cost more than the house in my experience

Seems fair. My Wife got a discount and my kids ... for some reason
I paid full tourist price cos I didnt get a discount
All had a nice time there cos it;s a nice place to take kids.... no drama

An accident probably

Sailing is the most boring spectator sport known to man .... apart from rowing
You watch a boat leave.... and then some time later you might (if you are really keen) watch it return
Personally i would rather spend a day eating razor blades than watching this tedious guff
As an aside - How ironic this thread sits on top of this forum at the moment

What is this 'insurance' that you speak of?

Do whatever you want with the bike. They got your passport, if you lose the bike then you pay for it...

I will put it another way... I have a house number and never had post arrive safely when sent from outside of Thailand when written in English. Maybe i am unlucky
Or maybe I gave up sending after a few lost mails. I might experiment

Generally i find if writing on envelope is Thai then it arrives. If writing is Falang then it does not

Spuds and sprouts and gravy don't travel well surely
Having said that i've never had a decent mass produced Xmas lunch eat-in either. They are garbage normally compared to home cooked

What I used to like about this place is this kind of guff didn't matter. Why make a problem when there is not one
Now it matters more cos there are more dorks and bores here complaining about stuff that does not really matter

I very nearly got a Thump! driving very slowly over the hill from Chaweng to the airport from a Japenese couple on a m/bike on the wrong side of the road around that blind bend at the top. Words failed me but gestures did not.
To clarify ... There was no sign of Russians in this scenario
Drive slowly people. If i drove fast i would have had that Thump! Jay walking is fine if everyone drives slow

Falang can walk to beach no problem but Thai cannot
20 yrs ago the locals just had to worry about cocunuts falling on their heads when they went to the beach areas.... now they have to worry about a total lack of face by being told they do not have right of entry
I think they would prefer a coconut on the head
Progress eh?

Complaining about 20bht? Don't be such a wuss. Accept where you are and get on with it. This aint no democracy... if you want that then go back from whence you came and take your sense of superiority with you

I hate being negative... but ... Despite the two posters above pledging to go along I think the whole idea is moronic unless you enjoy burning cash... and I imagine quite a bit of cash burning has gone on already to construct the building and facilities and get the license… and then find that once opened and given the location and tourism demographic … you might just get a couple of punters per day to pontificate about how wonderfully nutty the beer is
…. If you are lucky
In my experience, it’s not as though real ale drinkers have a lot of charisma to pull in the crowds

Had quite a few hours of this in bangrak today. All I wanted was butter from the shop to go on my toast.... (no have... electric close) .... but i survived, despite the odds, and reminded myself that life is not so bad really
Took a siesta after lunch (eggs on dry toast (bread... no electric)) on the very cool tiled floor.... just like the old days. Very nice.

Just been looking through my old CDs and found one called "The Only Jazz Album You'll Ever Need".
How right they were -

Looking for ISS parents (International School of Samui)
in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Posted
My 2 kids did 4 years of Samui International schooling... when i hooked them back to Europe i found they had lagged quite a long way behind. They are now playing catch up it feels in a non fee paying (normal) European school
Perhaps... and i do say perhaps... because this is partly my own speculation as to why... this is a combination of:
a) schools not able to attract the right level of teachers
general island laid back lifestyle
c) lax attitude towards education by other parents.... contributing towards (d)
d) overall communal sense of learning not as focused as it is in leading education set ups in Europe
e) mainly pupils come from more affluent side of the fence, and there felt to me a complete lack of drive and sense of importance given towards education - most kids had it on a plate already (speaking plainly)
in essence many lacked work ethic and that was very infectious. Just saying.
My kids were very happy socially it must be said.... but If you are thinking of moving your kids to Samui make sure you get them extra lessons and don't allow the work ethic to drop - because it is very easy to let that happen. This applies to all the International school's there
