  1. I was told years ago that Cambodian women often “rent” the babies they use for their begging enterprise
  2. Grab’s food delivery drivers are the most reckless I have seen- speeding and weaving in and out of traffic.
  3. I had health insurance here till I was 65. I think most older people will find the cost to be very high with limited coverage because of pre existing conditions. I choose to self insure and spend a few months a year in USA where I can get things done with Medicare.
  4. It’s too bad they are allowed to land here unlike EU or USA as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
  5. I wonder how many times the same ladyboys have been arrested and released the next day with a small fine. Their behavior definitely damages Thailand’s reputation as a tourist destination. Moves have been made to ban men from lady sports…I wonder if something needs to be done about the ladyboys here who engage in criminal behavior - after repeated incidents . Shouldn’t they be locked up ?
  6. The problem with health insurance is that it gets very expensive for older people if you can get it at all and pre-existing conditions might negate any coverage for future problems.
  7. The past few months it seems that misdeeds of foreigners are in the headlines every day.
  8. Eartone in Bangkok is great…2 locations along Sukhumvit.
  9. Would love for them to do something about the noisy tuk tuk’s . I can’t hear my tv some nights as they speed down my Soi in Silom, noisily shifting gears at max rpm.
  10. I foresee more government indebtedness to BTS and MRT as costs will be significant and usage will outstrip capacity on some lines.
  11. Had this happen to me a week after I signed lease extension with the landlord. The landlord made an appointment for prospective buyers and the place was shown as a courtesy but it was confirmed that my lease would be honored. I am not sure it was sold or not-guess I will find out in January.
  12. No attention at all being paid to CAPACITY ! The Sukhumvit and Silom lines will be severely overcrowded during rush hours. Also nothing has been said about where they found the money to fund this program.
  13. Since last year a saw many taxis display QR code in the rear seating area and I found this to be very convenient but tourists probably cannot use this feature.
  14. You would think their visa requests would be closely scrutinized given their abysmal record in Thailand with respect to crime and overstays.
  15. I don’t see much of a change in Bangkok. Most (paying) passengers have not been given a helmet to wear. I rode twice this week. Some financial pain will have to be inflicted to force a change.
