Australia which has one of the strictest quarantine regimes has found how difficult it is to contain outbreaks via hotel workers. For months now there have been no locally acquired cases. The only positive cases have been with people in quarantine or a small number of hotel workers that caught the virus despite incredibly strict non contact rules.
I cannot see how a "sandbox" would be able to contain the virus with the constant movement in and out of workers.

Careful who you call a psychopath. You might end up with a defamation claim against you.

"He claimed that modern GPS systems could help reduce road accidents by alerting drivers of the safe distance between their cars and the vehicles in front of them, and could prevent car theft while enabling owners to keep track of their vehicles’ location."
These systems are already available and widespread. Collision avoidance, lane changing and controlled braking systems are becoming standard options on new vehicles. None of them require or use GPS tracking which does not have the accuracy. They use "Lidar" sensors on the vehicle which has millimeter accuracy.
GPS tracking has also been around for a long time and is commonly used by fleet owners to keep track of their vehicles and a few owners who may be worried by theft.
There is no reason for making it mandatory unless for some reason the police and govt want to keep track of its citizens.-

It is the free market operating as it will always. The supplier will charge what the market is willing to pay.
Why would people expect private hospitals to be any different.
I went to a Thai private hospital with for an assessment for non-urgent surgery. I was treated like royalty. The hospital was like a 5 star resort. It cost me nearly $1000 for the tests and a quote for the operation of some $25000 USD.
I said thank you very much but I flew back to Australia where I had the same procedure and a week in a private hospital just as nice for around $15000 which my insurance paid and cost me nothing.
If people are stupid enough or rich enough to pay Thai prices then good luck to them and the hospital. I don't see why people should complain. If the price is not right ... go elsewhere, except perhaps the US which is even more stupid for medical services.-

They said a few days ago that there is 200000 overstayers. 7000 Will get arrested soon.
That sounds more like it. I did not see that report.

Only 7000 overstayers in a country that has 30M visitors a year. Who makes these numbers up.?
The exact number of unlawful workers in Australia is unknown. But in May this year at Senate Estimates, it was estimated that there were 64,600 non-citizens who had overstayed their visa. This is in a country with a quarter the population of Thailand and no land borders with another country.-

People who make critical and offensive comments about Thais based on the incomplete information in a newspaper article are only displaying their own moronic nature. They are an embarrassment to all foreigners in the country.
They should wait to pass judgement until all the information is available after a proper investigation.

Why are the shirts only in English. I thought it was mostly Chinese that get into trouble in the water.
The shirts should be tri-lingual, Chinese, Thai and English or use international symbol. -
The last time I went to Pattaya and jomtien about 5 years ago the water was so filthy I decided not to waste my time going there again. There are other nicer places in Thailand to visit.. It seems nothing has changed.

The best way to stop a child having a tantrum is to walk away. There is no point if the target of the tantrum is not watching. The worst thing to do is hang around and try to placate the child.
Clearly this child / adult had been manipulating the parent for years. The parent needs counselling as much as the child.

Pattaya is a seaside resort where you would never think of going into the sea. I won't even eat locally caught seafood, especially shellfish which are filter feeders.

What a fxxking disgrace!
I'm sorry but this is not a civilised country.
Mind-less, sick bastards! Fxxking low life animals! No they are worse than animals.
Sicking.
My young daughter keeps me hanging on here, but I can't wait for the day when she a little older and can finally leave this place!
I'm sorry but similar things happen all over the world. If you try, you can find "uncivilized" behaviour in any country. I am sure the majority of Thai people condemn this behaviour as much as you do.

Only took 2 posts for the anti-religious bigots to show up. Other Muslim countries allow such. It's the country's aberrant/medieval culture, with religion as a convenient excuse. Put the blame where it belongs.
The poster did .... an aberrant medieval culture based on religion. I do agree with you, the culture is aberrant and medieval.

Transgenderism is a mental disorder like paranoid schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder with a 40% suicide rate (4% is average). People inflicted with these terrible disorders deserve compassion and kindness, but to encourage this behavior is psychotic
Transgenderism has many causes, sex chromosome abnormalities, hormone insensitivity, epigenetic methylation, interuterine environment just to mention a few. NONE of them are due to any sort of mental disorder. I repeat NONE.
People who fail to recognize this do not deserve any sort acknowledgement but should be recognised as ignorant transphobics -

Thailand is in desperate need of a Thai version of Donald Trump. Someone in power that really means business and clamps down on illegal immigrants, illegal workers and all the corruption that comes as part of the deal.
Thailand already has a leader like Trump. He is cracking down on the poor Thai and illegal immigrants while encouraging their exploitation by the rich.

At around 18AUD for entry to a cave or a small beach makes it expensive even by Australian standards. I have twice now got to a NP and turned around because I thought it was too much.

When you say "operate" do you mean own the business or just work in one.
Most replies seem to assume you mean to work or manage the business.
Does any prohibition also mean you cannot "invest" in a business owned and operated by a Thai. E.g. you lend money to a partner that then has to repay you with interest.

Nothing simple about this case. Lots of questions remain unanswered.
Why was the boy dressed like a girl?
Was "she" soliciting as a prostitute.
Did the guy ask the boys age first, if so what did she say.
Was there an attempt at blackmail.
Of course this does not absolve the Dane of any crime but it may explain why the Thai is in handcuffs.
People need to know all the information before passing judgement.

About 7 yrs ago my wifes son applied to join the police . H went for the exam and passed but said the police examiner wanted 30,000 baht to pass him . He did not have the money and i was not sure it was true so refused to give it to him .
He then applied to join the army border control near nong khai to stop smuggling across the mekong . He again passed the exam but when he got back my wife got a call from the examiner which i listened to . He wanted 40,000 baht to pass him or he would put the next candidate through. This time fed up of him lounging around the house i paid and a week later he was in.
He said there were about 40 people taking the test so about 1.6 million baht for a couple of hours . I think the test was in Loei so a small place. multiply this for the army and police across thailand and it is a massive amount of money .
My wife a teacher had to pay 200,000baht for promotion , 7/11 wanted 20,000baht for her daughter to be promoted to assistant manager , neice had to pay 30,000baht for nurse promotion , her nephew paid 100,000baht to have a job of 7000 baht a month in the village gov office . Want a job in tesco , have to pay . Job in immigration , have to pay . iT is in all walks of thai life so this report about one instance seems a bit sillyAnd I thought they only did that in Laos. I have two personal friends that tell me they had to pay money to get recruited in a bank and the govt immigration.
It seems like it is a widespread practise throughout the region.

A year in the army might be an interesting "gap year" experience for him and a useful skill in his cv.

There wont be many tourists from Australia where you have to get permission from the govt to leave the country then spend more than $3000 on hotel quarantine when you get back ....
