I agree. Unfortunately, too many people over generalise, respond in a knee jerk manner and fail to see the full picture before condemning an issue. I call it the vigilante in us all.All very sad, in Thailand life is cheap in every respect, god knows what these poor babies were for, I dread to think...
"In Thailand life is cheap..."
Do you often over generalize?
Some people rush to the conclusion that therefore ALL surrogacy should be banned.
This fails to to acknowledge that their are thousands of childless couples want and are entitled to experience the joy of having their own children through a properly managed surrogacy program.
The issue above if substantiated after proper investigation is a good example of the dark side of surrogacy. But the flaw is not in surrogacy per se but in a legal system that fails to properly manage an ethical system of surrogacy.- 4

I also visited the museum many years ago .... it was a unique experience and I am glad to hear that it is still going strong. The "proprietors" are no spring chickens but I wish I had the energy they seem to have.

There are plenty in England....where they belong and should stay!!!!!
I was going to write exactly this.
Why go to Thailand and then want a bloody English pub ? why ?
Its ridiculous.
Same reason Thai go to a Thai restaurant in England.

That is only 10 hours a week, What about schools that hold 2x5hr classes. or some other combination.
In Australia there was/is a lot of abuse and the conditions there are a lot tougher. It's easy for some one to put a tick in a roll book.

Michel Bachmann that lovely woman in the US Congress must have some inside knowledge on our agenda.
Listen to her here on Right Wing Watch.
And to think she could have been President of the USA

Thailand needn't worry, there will always be plenty of Aussie tourists around looking for cheap booze, broads and beaches.

I've listen to homophobes in interviews say they wouldn't want a gay couple living next door because it would "ruin the family" but they have never been more specific. I have often wondered how their family would be ruined.

If taking over the world is on the "gay agenda" then I think we should start by painting the White House pink.

I was really thinking about the "gay agenda" that homophobic religious always accuse us of having. things like take over the world, destroy the family turn all the children gay etc

Thai provinces affected by typhoon Rammasun
By Digital Content
BUENG KAN, July 16 -- Typhoon Rammasun is impacting many provinces in the Thailand's Northeast, while the South is facing heavy rains and big waves.
In the Northeast, persistent rains have quickly raised the level of the Mekong River in Bueng Kan province.
Elsewhere in the Northeast, in Buri Ram province, local authorities warned of heavy rains, flash foods, landslides and runoffs in four districts.
In Sakon Nakhon, officials opened three sluice gates in the center of the province to accelerate drainage from Nong Han Lake into the Mekong River to prevent flooding in the Nong Han community and local farmland but the drainage is slow due to the high level of the river.
In the South, runoff hit restaurants and homes near the Krabi Yai Canal in Krabi province late last night. Local residents have been warned of possible flash floods and runoff in the next few days due to persistent rains.
In Trang province, a seaside road in Koh Sukorn subdistrict of Palian district was damaged at about 10 locations and the subdistrict was declared a disaster-stricken area. (MCOT online news)

I read a lot from religious homophobes about the "gay agenda", but I have never seen one published. So maybe we should start one up.
I'll put up the first ... over to you ... serious and creative suggestions welcome

Good point, it's easy to miss the obvious sometimes. I'm gay so yes I would prefer someone with a similar background, for social reasons, but I don't discriminate, any age, gender or sexual orientation welcome.
Perhaps I should add that I also enjoy an evening ritual of sitting in the boats cockpit with a can of beer watching the sun set over the water.

Yes, came thro VTE. No extra documentation needed for a tourist visa and none asked for.Came through Nong Khai a week ago on 60 day double entry tourist visa without any issues. But my passport is full of back to back 14 day visa exempt stamps because I actually live in vientiane and do visa runs into Thailand once a month. Us Laos expats are nervously waiting for the August deadline to see what it means for us.
Did you get the visa in Vientiane? What documentation did they require- specifically did they require any evidence of flights in and out of Thailand or a bank statement?.
Curiously, a couple of months back when the stricter enforcement was first announced the Immigration officer at the Bridge for the first time in ten years asked me why I was going into Nong Khai so many times. I told the truth, that I was actually on a visa run "from Laos" and I usually go back the same day or I stay a few days to do some shopping. The dates on the stamps showed this, he gave a grunt and passed me.

If things are confusing now, what will happen when they are supposed to harmonise visa conditions across all ASEAN countries originally slated for 2015.

I hope Laos doesn't catch the Thai anti corruption disease. Unlimited back to back thirty day tourist visas. At $30 a pop.
On further thought, nah!!! No chance of them stopping that nice little earner.

Ihave just done a quick calculation on doing aTT of 4000 AUD worth of baht. from my Aust bank into my Thai bank vs sending 4000 AUD.
The difference was nearly 200 AUD in exch. rates and charges.
Screw Aussie banks.
no wonder they are the most profitable in the world, and sailed thro' the GFC.
But I will still keep my shares in them,

Even in Thailand corrupt officials have a right to "assumption of innocence" while their case is being investigated.
Suspended from duties or moved to an inactive post is the correct and fair thing to do.
But it is now on the NCPO to properly investigate and prosecute of warranted. That's when I will believe they are being fair dinkum.
