  1. At the moment I have a sofar on grid 3kw inverter with six 350w solar panels connected in series. As the cost of panels are coming down I would like to install additional panels. I understand I can't go above the max operating voltage but can I use different wattage and voltage panels? Cheers for any help
  2. I have been using a Neta for the last year. I use it for school runs and around town. It's great for this. Long trips would be tiring. It's very bumpy ride. The AC is not great but adequate. It's small inside.
  3. What is the cheapest and quickest way to transfer the above. I currently use wise to do my monthly transfers but my limit is 1000 pounds a time at about 7 pounds plus a transaction. Is that still the best method Cheers
  4. I looked at the Thai embassy website. Is it the up to 90 day non o he should apply for. Also it mentions having covid insurance. Where should he get this. Again many thanks for the help
  5. Hi my father who currently lives in the UK is considering retirement here in udon thani. He has enough savings for the visa but ideally would like to use the 65000 a month method if possible. If not possible this is ok. What would he have to do first Many thanks
  6. Thanks Crossy
  7. We've had a new electric meter installed. Previously, we had a spinning disc meter with our ongrid solar system. Would like to know if it's ok to run our currently turned off ongrid inverter. Obviously we don't want to be double charged for electric or blow the meter up.
  8. Been following your build and would be great to be totally off grid. One thing I read about off grid builds is they need alot of power management unless you really over size. Just my impression
  9. cheers I think I will go with this as I really don't want to go buying batteries
  10. Thanks to the members here I've had a small solar set up running for the last year. I have two systems. Each system consists of 3 of 340w panels wired parallel to an on grid souer inverter. Now the spinning disc meter is to be changed to a digital meter off his week. I understand I need to change to a hybrid inverter but certainly don't want to export any electric back into the grid. Also I don't want to start buying batteries. I do have 2 electric cars that maybe I could change any excess energy. I looked at Lazada but need a little help in choosing an inverter. Also any recommendations should I change my setup. I have space for may another 3 solar panels. Thanks
  11. Thanks to the contributions here I managed to install a gti system last January and been running great. I have 3 330w panels wired in parallel to a cheap 1000w inverter. I have two of these setups. These are wired to the house consumer unit. I just seen on facebook that our area “udon Thani” have started to replace the disc meter to digital. The question I have is can I install a no export limit. My inverters have no option to fit this. Maybe just keep the setup as is and look at a longer payback period. or look into a hybrid inverter looking for suggestions really
  12. You need to confirm pea will fit the tou meter first. Then you need to install the wiring from where the new meter will be to where you will be charging the car. The new wiring needs to be to spec. Afterwards pea need to install the meter. Then MG contractor will come and install the charger.
  13. Many thanks for the replies. I like the idea of drilling the panel and making a solid fixing. But was concerned about panel expansion or is this not a problem
  14. I'm near to ordering all the items for my small solar system. One question is I'm DIY ING the panel mounting and wonder can you drill into the side of a panel for my fixings
  15. Ordered a Neta a couple weeks ago. Told delivery April. B5000 deposit. Nice looking car. Had a test drive around town. Rear view was restricted and seat was a little firm. But will be using it as a town car only.
  16. 2nd meter about B4500 three weeks to fit from order. Udon Thani office
  17. So could I use a single pole transfer switch for the live wire to the air conditioning. Or is it best to try to locate and switch the neutral too...
  18. Yes, 2 meters. Old disc one for the house. New digital one for the EV
  19. We have a MG EV car. To charge this at home we have a dedicated electric meter and consumer unit where the charger is fed from . The meter is a Tou meter. We have several spare ways on the consumer unit and was thinking we could move the washing machine from our house electric supply to the EV charger supply. Will this be ok or will it impact in charging the EV.
  20. Thanks for the replies. Another question, we have a separate meter for charging the car. Using the pea Tou meter The consumer unit also has several spare MCBs. Could we plug our washing machine into this and take advantage of the Tou rate. Also would this be detrimental to the car if using both at the same time ...
  21. I also would like to do this. How do you get around the RFID card. The MG app on our EV plus dose not work.
  22. Just a quick update. Meter and charger fitted and sort of working. Any ideas how to turn the MG charger off...... turning on I use the card and works fine.
  23. Yep tou was the meter ordered. In addition will be installing solar in the near future and maybe do some exporting
  24. Yes We can have a separate meter just for the car. Have visited pea and paid 4500 baht and we are on the list to have the meter installed. The wire from the meter, outside in the lamppost to the new consumer unit in the carport has been installed. Cost2000 labour 7000 materials. MG have been surveyed the site and approved. Just call them when I want them to fix the charger to the wall. What else MG are going to do I'm not sure. Obviously tit and the meter is not installed yet but so far so good. Will update when operational. Still can't get the MG app to work and have given up. Probably no use anyway.
