  1. My SI Net just hooked up this morning. This afternoon not working. I only rent this condo and it comes with internet connection. Is Si Net cheaper than 3BB? Why cheap out? 3BB was always pretty good.

  2. Have a similar situation myself. Different country. Not much to do about it except what you can I guess and it looks like in this case, all he can do is write letters - which are unlikely to help. In my case, I decided that going that route would just make me crazy. So we just accept our fate, I work some in my country of origin and I live here some. It's not ideal, but it does solve the problem of an income in Thailand.

It is difficult sometimes to accept the consequences of our choices in life.

If you keep geese in there with the bananas they keep the weeds down and provide the manure automatically :)

Delicious eggs and security guards are a bonus :)

I have a few geese and I grew a couple of banana trees in their area. They ate them. One day they decided they like the taste of banana tree and they knocked them down, one by one and ate them-nothing left, trunk and all.

  4. All my time here has taught me to be more tolerant of what people do. I've seen a lot of weird things here that don't fit into what I learned was right or normal where I come from. What Thais think of age differences baffles me for the most part but I know that they accept a financial factor in their thinking on relationships. It was not that long ago that Thais could have more than one wife if one could afford that. In the rural areas, "indiscrepancies" between men and very young woman are often fixed through marriage and or financial compensation.
My wife says that our age difference of 20 years is totally acceptable. I've given up thinking much about it really.

  5. Who cares what the clinical director for the Cabin thinks? Of course I'm sure he'd advocate for their very expensive treatment program with unproven outcomes.

Fact of the matter of recovery from addiction is that no - one particular methodology works consistently for all addicts. End of that story.

Cheers to the monks at Wat Thamkrabok. Working with addicts is difficult.

if your intension is to break the rules if the dog is banned from being imported into thailand, then we dont need you as another inconsiderate owner.

Cant quite say what I want without being banned, but suffice to say that you are not giving input relevant to the questions.

    Have a nice day

  7. Hi there.

Last time I was home to work I adopted a mature, male pitbull with an awesome temperament.  He loves everyone and is very good with dogs and cats. My intention was to bring him back here with me. I read somewhere that Thailand does not permit the importation of pitbulls. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, would anyone have ideas on how to get this guy into Thailand. Often rules in Thailand are obstacles, not brick walls.

    Thanks

    New thread I suggest.

It would be interesting to know how low the input voltage to the AVR goes when the A/C is running.

Well, I ran a 2 HP submersed pump, 6000 watt water heater, on demand water pump, some fans and a couple of lights all at once. The voltage was down to 150 on the input side, 220 output and AVS at 90% capacity. I havent checked just the air yet.

  9. Have installed the 20 KVA AVS. Works as I thought it would. I've yet to run both air cons off it tho as the brain in one is pooched. Waiting for parts.

I'm going to have some solar related questions combined with Inverter Air Cons. This thread-or a new one?

I'll search a few other threads first.

So, if your neighborhood had a drug addict, you would recommend going up to him and knocking his head off with a baseball bat?   I'd recommend conversing with the addict, and finding out whether there are any ways to mitigate his bad habits.

If he's running around harming or threatening harm? Absolutely. Knock his head off.

I've not compared Kim to a drug addict. Read my comparison carefully-and get the point of it.

OTOH, Saddam was crazy, was eliminated and then things got worse. Unless the world is prepared to follow through,; a simple elimination will just make a bad situation worse.

There are some very credible news sources reporting that confirm his threats. Have you seen the interview with his foreign minister? The EVIDENCE is in. He needs to be eliminated.

    Very different from Saddam.

  12. Not that anyone cares or that it is even that relevant to this topic, but I think farming here is a wash. You need to be Thai and on your game as far as managing employees-farm workers. We've kept our home plot and we're still quite happy now after selling our 100 rai of cane and the tractor.  I miss the tractor - that's about it. Trying to get workers to show up, do the work, do what you ask them etc is crazy making. We were going to start to buy trucks to transport our cane, and then someone offered us what we wanted for our larger piece of land so we went the other way. So happy that it worked out that way.

As far as family- like someone else posted here. Right from day one I've been crystal clear- we are family. Not- you guys are family and I am farang. And we come first. Have never had a problem. It's been 7 + years now with this one.

Anyways its almost 9. time for bed

Our village well just runs the water thru a system that basically just aerates the water which I assume might remove some VOC's. At the water price (cheap) we pay Im sure nothing else is done to it  I just deal with the calcium by cleaning shower and faucet heads with vinegar from time to time to restore flow rates and use an RO system for drinking water. My PPM before filtering is a massive 445 and 8.7 PH it goes down to about 32 PPM after RO filtering. If you are wanting whole house filtering its gonna be expensive and alot of maintenance. Also for plants and hydroponic system I adjust ph myself in batches.

Your measurement of 445 ppm - what are you measuring? And how are you measuring that? How much did your RO system cost?

    Thanks

  14. Hi. Couple quick questions.

Does anyone know anything about the filtration systems used my many of the smaller Thai rural moobans? They are multi level, platform type. I'm curious about them.

We have good ground water here, but it's time to improve our filtration system. Currently use a couple of canisters bought at Global. They weren't that expensive. Next step up is about 15,000 baht. I could build one of these Thai systems if I knew more about them. Main concerns are calcium and biological elements.

    Thanks
