Keep business as business. I've been very "clear" from the outset that we're not a charity outpost. I pay fair for what we have to pay for, but otherwise my money is mine and I'll chase a thai down in a field of cane for it. (I've done that).
Gotta be pretty careful doing business with some Thais. If you leave an opening, you're gonna get hurt. You just have to recognise and accept that some of them are out and out theives, not business people.
I have had the pleasure of doing good, simple business with some as well. Trust your intincts and cover yourself.
Cheers

Hey there. I figured this'd be the best spot for this ad so hopefully the mods will leave it up. Thank you.
I've got a 2012 New Holland 6610S for sale. It's got only 800 hours on the clock. I'm selling because I've sold all the land and only have the tractor left. Has a blade on front, 3 disc, 7 disc, cane planter, sub soil fertilizer, and a good sized trailer.
The tractor itself cost 1,650,000 new w blade and 3 disc. The tractor is located in Nong Bua Lamphu province, not far from Nong Bua Lamphu city. I'll be there from the 5th through the 10th or so of September to sell the last plot of land. I'd like to get rid of the tractor as well. Currently working in Canada and am travelling to Thailand for the land sale so I am motivated to sell this tractor as well.
Entertaining offers. Contact me for pics, and I'll try to find some.
I'll post this up on the main farmers board as well.

After reading your comment, I had to watch the sharpening. I only watched half of just the sharpening. This is hilarious! Like a Mr. Bean with a chainsaw. It must be made for humour.

Ha!
Yes I started keeping track until it escalatedo out of control and I realized the trap that I had created. If I do get out, I'll consider myself lucky. Lesson learned. I did well in that I bought well. So there is profit in selling the land that does cover losses on the equipment.

How does corn profit compare to cane profit?
Any easier to sell and transport? How many tons per rai of saleable corn?
-
Yeah, I've had enough. It was a stupid idea. I can work for 3 months in Canada with no investment and earn more than I earn here all year doing this and I've got a lot tied up in this. Got rid of half the cane land already, and moving on the rest of it. '
Drip tape works fine, but still a big problem for such a large project. Better than the alternative of one guy on a pvc line moving around in the field. We had good success with our boreholes considering that none of them were what most people would call well done bores.

I'd be interested in the tractor. It's an old model though and I couldn't offer you near what you are asking. Not terribly interested in the grasscutter, but I could cut the local schoolyard grass with it. I've been looking at the newer version of the small kubotas. Afraid to offer what I'd be willing pay actually. Don't want to come across as insulting.

Who has asked for the land survey and why?
I have paid 50% in the past, but that was because I wanted time to close.
Problem is that the more you pay, the harder it becomes to walk if things go south. You'll have to assess the risk yourself, and/or bargain a better deal, or just pay it to secure it if it is a screaming deal. -
I've been through this. Politely ask them to order you an old style card. It may take up to a week.

"The scheme will be launched in 22 provinces."
"Scheme" is the operative word here. I can see it now. Poor farmers bidding for the land or paying bribes....only to have it go to a relative of the person in charge. You just know it's going to work like this, or just never materialize period.
And even if a farmer gets the land to farm.....he's just going to get hosed by the buyers. It's not a scheme to help the farmer, it's a scheme to help the buyers.
Scheme...scam.....same thing aren't they? -
How about a certificate of residency from thai immigration. He has a long term visa.

This situation was foreseeable. What most people are whining about is actually their own lack of foresight.

Where my wife's parents live in Isaan, there is virtually next to no wildlife. Locals hunts frogs, small birds, rats, lizards and snakes for survival. There's nothing left.

I've done that trip in my truck. It's do-able on a motorcycle, in fact, I was thinking at the time that it'd be a great trip on a small bike like that. The brains behind taking a stupid bike like that is that you'd be able to get it fixed anywhere.
Chiang Mai to Chiang Kong. Chiang Kong (Huay Xai) to Luang Prabung. Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng. Then on to Vientiene. Cross into Thailand there and ride back to Chiang Mai taking the route along the river to Sri Chiang Mai and then on through Loei, Uttaradit, Lampang to Chiang Mai.
You'll need paperwork to get your bike across the border and you'll get that from Thai Transport or Motor Vehicle office. In thai it is "Khon Song" (both long "o"s). It's where you'd go to get a drivers licence. You need a vehicle passport.
It'd be great trip with like minded folk, and a pack of tools and emergency parts. You can get by in Laos very easily with good Thai especially if you know some of the small differences (but big ones) between Thai and Laos languages. If you cannot speak Thai, I'd bring someone who could. -
If you just want another multiple entry non-o visa you can get one in Savannakhet Laos with no financial proof.
If you want to do a one extension of stay so that you don't need to leave the country every 90 days you can get a single entry non-o at any nearby embassy or consulate and apply for it during the last 30 days of your 90 day entry.
You will have no problem leaving, getting your visa and then entering with an overstay stamp in your passport.
If, in the following year you will be travelling in and out of Thailand, you'd still need to multiple entry wouldn't you? Even if you extended it for one year. Extending a single entry just gets you the stay, not "inand out" privileges. Am I correct?

A loan is not going to help anyone. It'll keep them in the game a little longer so that you can rape them some more.
-
What would actually help would be laws and programs designed to keep more of the money in the farmers pockets. There must be a minimum farmgate price that is much higher than it is now. There is profit in rice, rubber and cane, just not for the farmers themselves. Look to the wholesale buyers for the pigs at the trough.

Move. Things starting to go strange in Thailand usually don't stop going that direction. Renters have little rights and legal fights can often go bad, with Thais losing face and needing to save face.

Second criteria...."can I endure not selling it?"

There seems to be a glut of property for sale. Like someone else said, easy to buy, hard to sell.
I've bought a few pieces and could sell them all at a very good profit, but I bought on my terms and bought well. First criteria is always "resale-ability".- 1

Hello Canada,
We pay around
160 baht / ton for truck to take Cassava to Factory, Approx 60 kilometers
180 baht / ton for truck to take Sugar cane to factory, approx 60 kilomteres.
Thanks. Do you pay for wait time at the factory too? Some times the trucks get stuck at the factory for days.

Thais love this wood. If the person if offering 10k, you can bet the value it 2 or 3 times that. I'd go with Jotham's suggestion at half of the wood.
Personally I'd want it all if it were mine.
