  1. I cant believe that people have a bad experience regarding their meals, one 2 years ago .Then say nothing at the time .Only to make statements here that cannot be verifyed either way.

Is it so hard to complain face to face at the time ,i dont think so if the meal is not right you are not kicking up a fuss by mentioning it .

It was late on Christmas day. In the evening actually. It was the first time I'd been in there and simply decided to not go back.

I certainly didn't want to get in to a situation with a group of friends of complaining to a bar owner who was very likely to be drunk at that time of the evening on Christmas Day and may have started a shouting row. I've seen it happen many times before. Some drunken yob of an owner <deleted> and blinding at customers who complained.

In case you hadn't noticed, not every Brit who owns a bar in this country is a professional, civilised person.

And the insinuation that it "can't be verified" as if I'm a rival bar owner trying to slander his business is very unfair considering I've already stated that it was a one off and that the food on subsequent occasions has been excellent.

I was simply trying to show how something done by the Thai staff could cost the owner a lot more than they realise or is immediately evident. Perhaps others in the business and thinking of going in to the business will be helped in training their staff not to cut corners for convenience

No insinuations at all ,cannot be verifyed because it was 2 years ago .You can say it was bad but how can the bar defend themselves with it being so long ago.I would complain at the time before i ate the meal .not on a forum .

re .... is any money changer that can give a very good rate.

if you need to get " a very good rate " you should move away from chiang mai to pattaya .

where all the cheap charlies like you ( read loosers ) live ! ... : )

    enjoy ... dave2

You seem to be a complete idiot to put that response to a legitimate question.
  4. The bacon in Chiang Mai, if its British or American is of good quality I find. The sausage is another matter. I find all the sausage has no taste or little there of, except for the home made patty sausage at Bacon & Bite. If this new place can do a good sausage he will have my business but if it taste like everybody else's sausage... I wish him well.

I agree 100% except I prefer the home made patty sausage at Art Cafe. They are both American style breakfast sausages.

There is an English style sausage made in Pattaya or Jontien and available around the country which is better than the rest (Yorkies as I see that Thai Pauly has just posted). They are not cheap, but well worth the price when you can find them.

Should this place not have been called The House of Sausages (with an 's')

I thought when I drove past today that they were only selling ONE sausage!

Good comment ,i dont think so you need to get out more.

  5. I wear a helmet, stop at red lights, and try not to kill myself or anyone else. How will this cameras affect me?

They may deter red light jumpers who may otherwise have run straight through you.

It still wont stop the stupid <deleted>* who turn straight in front of you when the lighrts are on green ,and if that happens dont expect any help from the BIBs the one we had was worse than usless.
  6. re .... is there the equivalent of a GP?

yes and i recomend her and many farangs who use thai visa see her as well !

if you need a specialist she will know where to send you and can even arrange for a thai to take you if needed

    dave2

None better than this Doctor in chiang mai ,(in my opinion) .The treatment that i have received from this Doctor is the best i have had here or in the Uk.

  7. I had a similar problem a few months ago.

Poured some petrol into a bucket and threw the petrol over the nest.

Got a long wooden pole, put a piece of newpaper over the end of it. Lit the paper, held it by the pole, took it over to the nest and set it on fire and stood well back.

The few survivors were gone in 10 minutes never to return.

What a sad thing to do ,they are invaluable to the pollination process.

  8. I doesn't bother me that customers complain. I've spoken with the staff and tried to establish what happened and why, and I will try to ensure it doesn't happen again. I have a form on every table for people to leave their comments and the first page of the menu says "If you have a problem with any aspect of our service please don't hesitate to inform us."

I would rather these incidents didn't occur, but if they do I'd like to know about it in order to rectify the problem.

Oooh id forgotten about those feedback forms, yes an excellent idea... my only suggestion there would be to make sure pens/pencils are available for people to fill them out... we didnt have any on our table and i didnt want to annoy the Staff further by asking for something else :)

But thanks Kevin, its refreshing to know that feedback, even negative, is taken well and will be used to improve service in the future!

So you do admit that you had annoyed the staff.? I dont think asking to borrow a pencil would have cause any more problems, the best thing to do here is chill out my pen rai.

  9. UN Irish Pub is not closed (it was closed for two hours the other day). What an odd rumour!

As you stated previously to a small incident ,if you know what it was kindly let us know?.why put a taster out then not back it up .I went and their was a hand written note on the door saying CLOSED i asked if any one knew why.Answers please not cryptic clues.

  10. We went to the UN IRish pub today as we usually do on a Monday ,and it was closed a note on the door just said closed.the windows had locks on also anyone know what is going off .

  11. Fixed deposit accounts are fine ,stock market based accounts are not.

Patriciachas, it depends on the view of the officer.

The saying " Rules is rules" - does not apply here in the Land of Scams.

You would never get Immigration to put your point on fixed deposits in writing and my own bank told me that whatever the rules are it is down to "interpretation" on the day.

a fixed deposit account will not be refused.

1 it cannot drop below 800,000 baht if that amount is in when you open the account.

    2. It is accesible at any time.

3.A fixed deposit stock based account can drop below the 800,000 limit that is why they do not allow them.

If it is accessible at any time there is obviously no problem. But that is not a FIXED term deposit which is what you seemed to be implying. Nowhere in your post was there mention of instant access. What is the actual name of the account you are talking about. Is it a savings account at a fixed rate. Though why anyone would want to fix a rate at current levels escapes me.

    Caf

i agree with you why would anyone want a fixed rate account at this moment i time.what i am saying is they will accept fixed rate accounts as long as they are not stock based.

A Fixed deposit account for 6,12,24,36,months can be accesed at any time but only the basic interest rate will be paid at the bank specified rate. The name of the account is Fixed Deposit Account.

Their will be no problem with this type of account.

A stock market based fixed term account would not be allowed because your funds could drop below the minimum limit during its term.
